    They took the ring finger and the ring on purpose. John said his reason for living was to remember his wife. The man above the table said he must "cast aside his weakness." The wedding ring, living for her memory, was his weakness. That's why he had to cut off the ring finger and give up his wedding ring.

    • @samhainnc9416
      @samhainnc9416 Год назад +1

      Because of the marker that Santino had that saved John from punishment of killing his sister. He was forced into it because betraying a marker is a more serious offense. And also since it was a family squabble. Wasn't like john went after her on his own or for someone not part of the organization. (this seems to be the consensus as there is no reason given. Plus I think they wanted a reason to dethrone the Bowery King and place a more loyal ruler into the bowery. )

    • @nikosjogren6826

      That's one thing that I found issue with the more that I've watched reactions to this movie. Assisting John, by all accounts, should have been just fine. Yeah he was going against a member of the high table, but at the same time he was under no restriction not to offer services to John. After he helped John, whatever happened should have been free of the King's judgment. The table was fishing for that one in order to regain some amount of control in my opinion.

On top of the weapons training and hand fighting they discovered that the dogs couldn't hear the trainers with all the noise on set, so Halle had to work with them to get them to follow her commands. I'm pretty sure that in the second chapter, the event at which John kills Gianna is actually her coronation, or prior to it. She'd been selected by her father to take his place at the table but had not actually been recognised. That explains why John could kill her with no repercussions, whereas Santino had been officially recognised by the rest of the table when John killed him. I suspect that having a marker isn't enough to justify killing a member of the table, and that the order of rules actually goes along the lines of 1) no murdering the high table, 2) no business on continental grounds, and 3) no disobeying a marker.

    • @ateam404
      @ateam404 Год назад +2

      I think everyone fair game as long as they are not on Continental grounds. Santino was hiding out in the hotel and was prepared to do so for a while. If killing him was against a code he could have just phoned up the High Table members. Everyone that helped Wick after he killed him was in trouble because Wick was suppose to get deaded like the girl was in the 1st one as soon as it happened.

    My favorite fight sequence is the knife fight because it's not overly perfect, it shows very nicely that when you throw a knife while moving at a moving target, you can't always get the distance and the amount of spin on the knife just right to hit with the point of the blade. Also, fighting with knives has a gut level gritty intensity to it that you don't get with bare hands, guns or even swords. That's why, when people metaphorically describe a conflict that's fast and vicious and up close in your face, they compare it to a knife fight.

    Sad to hear Lance Reddick died. He was an awesome actor. John had to give them his wedding ring cause he had to show he belonged to the high table and no one else. John wouldn’t have been able to hide out at the Continental since he was excommunicado. Winston allowed him in cause he knew what the high table asked John to do. It’s funny when they said they were closing due to fumigation they technically weren’t lying cause they viewed John and Winston as pests that needed to be removed. They were planning a 5th one prior to the pandemic to be filmed back to back with 4 but changed their mind after everything opened back up. There was an interview with John & Chad saying they were thinking about holding back on 5 and letting the series simmer a bit. There is a film in the works called “Ballerinas” which delves into this assassin world of the ballerinas you saw in the Russian theater. John Wick will be in that one. Also there is supposed to be a tv series coming out called “The Continental” which is a prequel to John Wick. I think it’s supposed to take place in the 70s. You guys should check out the Hacksmith on RUclips. He recently built a John Wick Bulletproof suit. He explains all he did to make it. He’s also working on a mandalorian suit.

    But also consider John. He tried to leave the High Table's Realm. He was just told he would be bound to it, specifically, almost... married.
    And consider that he still was wearing his wedding band. A symbolic severance of the last tie to the life he's ostensibly been trying to get back to.

    Bellona in ancient Rome or Enyo in ancient Greece, was the daughter of Mars or Ares the god of war and his right arm ready to do his will at anytime, with her other two favourite helpers of Ares, Polemos - the living manifestation of war, and Hubris - reckless pride, all three made the arrangements for cities and nations start tearing each other apart and start attacking, until daddy Mars/Ares arrives and have fun into the battlefield. Also the favourite goddess of the Amazons.
    So parabellum - prepare for (the goddess of) war.

    Good review for this movie. Saw Chapter 4 last night in the theater - definitely one of those movies that need to be seen on the big screen just because of the fight scenes, how they are set up, where they take place, and choreography. Yep - Chapter 4 is a LLLLOOOONNGGG movie!!! Caught a 6:00PM showing and left the theater at 9:00PM.

    LOVED yer giddyness during this watch!
    - seriously missed opportunity not having The Continental's bar band appear and do double duty and help John like the concierge does 😂😂😂
    - I know I'm always wrong about these things, lol, but considering how many 'cameo's' from Keanu's past movies we've seen so far, it would be cool if the high table was comprised of all the women who have already starred alongside Keanu... like Sandra Bullock, Tilda Swinton, Rachel Weisz, Charlize Theron, Winona Ryder... and the head of the high table be his 'dead' wife. And as it turns out she only faked her death just to get 'the great' baba yaga back in the game again. He's faced with having to make a decision... kill her and be who he is, or let her live and keep the part of himself that he wanted to be and longed for.

    Y'all should really watch the shooting, fighting, and car driving training footage for these movies to see how badass Keanu really is at shooting, fighting and driving. Heavy training that is actually practical is really used. It's fucking amazing to watch Keanu and even Halle do the exercises. It's crazy how good they get at hitting real targets with real guns through set up mazes. It is insane. Keanu can really do all the things with the guns, fighting, and driving. I've watched special forces react in amazement and commenting that that is how it would really be done and how you would really be trained in those combat situations.

    don't see any likewise comment so, Parabellum is latin, para (for) bellum (war), most famous quote containing that phrase is "si vis pacem para bellum" (if you want peace, prepare for war) and I am not a big enough gun nerd to know this for sure but I think parabellum is also a modern type of ammunition (?).

    "He looks like the Iron Chef guy"... That's because it is him! :) Mark Dacascos was the chairman on the American version, but he is an actor, and actually an amazing martial artist too. You two should react to 'Only The Strong', starring him. It's a martial arts movie about Capoeira, the Brazilian martial art combining dance and acrobatics. He also costars in 'Brotherhood of the Wolf', an awesome French action/monster movie that is worth reacting to as well.
