Mark honestly, I've had that holder for over a year in my Model 3, and it's the best one I've had. It's really not an issue on the top right of the screen and it is perfectly placed to see Waze etc. Try it! The 3M sicker is fine to get off, it doesn't leave any marks. If you want any pictures of what mine looks like let me know and I'll email you some. I have mine with a MagSafe charger fitted and the cable running around to one of the rear USB-C ports in the back of the car. It's great, charges, holds the phone, and the viewing is unobstructed.
@@MBrown Try it! I commute from Liverpool to London every week. I tried 3 or 4 phone holders when I first got my car - none any good. But got this and kept it. It's been ideal and doesn't block any view
@@MBrown There are ones that are attached to the end of the dash, they almost look Oem, but I found they were too far away and didn't allow the phone to be angled properly. The best one I've ever had is the Spigen one.
Mark, I use my car as is Tesla 3 spaceship as it came. I don't have any accessories. I don't have any need for them, and my Tesla is giving me all I need.
You do know the mount rotates so you can have it on the right side with your iPhone horizontally just above where you see the speedometer rather than vertically on the right of the screen like you were thinking about putting it 🤦♂️
You can use it on the right and have it on the top right in landscape mode rather than portrait orientation. You need to read the instructions on the box look at 1:43 min. It magnet Mount can be placed above the screen rather than the side.
Nice review. Def. not for everyone! But, I wouldn't mind using it in my model 3 in horizontal mode. Did you end up sending out the unit to a lucky someone already?!
I am using the spigen one as well in my car but i use the one u can attach on the trim on the dashboard, in that way i have it left of the door. Much better. I agree with you on the wrong location in the car. Keep up the good work!
Hi Mark I had the Temai anti gravity holder and I bought the Spigen one exactly like yours but was hesitant to stick it to my screen. I’ve found a go between by modifying the two and found best of both worlds on the dash fixed and on the right side. Just need a few more the parts to perfect it any chance a Spigen holder is flying around?
I have a similar holder (although it does pivot and can be angled) made by Jowua. It also sticks to the back of the screen with a 3M pad…. until the sun shines and then it comes unstuck. The best holder I have is a Joby windscreen suction mount with a Ulanzi phone clamp. It sits just below and behind the rear view mirror and doesn’t obstruct the view much. This also means I can use my phone like a dashcam too.
@@MBrown I have tried directing the second-rate aircon towards it to try to cool it down but it still comes unstuck when it’s a bit hot oitside. A better solution would be a mount that sits behind the steering wheel like a dashboard.
I installed a iPhone the day I took delivery of mt Model Y…since then I rarely use it since I use the Tesla nav exclusively wish I would have waited a while before buying the mount
I agree with your comments re the cradle not being quite right (for me that is) but apart from being able to reach the phone I don’t get why you’d use it for SatNav? Although Apple Maps is getting way better most would agree Google maps is still better but why use the phone for google maps? Tesla uses Google maps so don’t get the reasoning in the first place. Love the drawer organiser though. Very nice.
Hey so its just for places when the Tesla maps takes me to the wrong place. Maybe 10-20 times I've had to get out my phone and recheck it on Google maps to find the right location. Sometimes the traffic on the Tesla is terrible too.
I’d be more concerned about the sticky pad coming loose on those occasions we have hot days and with the weight of the phone, the whole assembly drops off whilst driving. Also, my man’s got so many notifications on his phone 😂😂 200+ emails!! There used to be a bracket that’s snap in between panels and you’d mount the phone on that. That’d be more solid. 3M tape is strong but there’s a limit.
Best comment can win the good! Go go go!
What camera and lens do you use, Great clarity footage!

Hey yes I can see some people would really like it, I just felt at the top
It blocked my road view

Yeah I thought it might be handy, but not for me
Are you in the uk? How does the Tesla satnav work in the uk?

Hey yes I tried that, but felt it blocked my view of the road a little
You absolutely right and I agree with that point , thanks
Thanks George
Hi, how much power does this product charge the phone?
7,5w or 15w ?
You can use it on the right and have it on the top right in landscape mode rather than portrait orientation. You need to read the instructions on the box look at 1:43 min. It magnet Mount can be placed above the screen rather than the side.
Hey yes I do mention that In the video, but I find that it blocks my road view like that, so wasn’t keen on that view either
@@MBrown sorry I missed the part where you mentioned it could go above the screen 👍🏼

I have been totality satisfied w the Tesla navigation & I have used CarPlay for years prior to buying my Tesla
Yeah me too, generally its great 98% of the time
I installed a iPhone the day I took delivery of mt Model Y…since then I rarely use it since I use the Tesla nav exclusively wish I would have waited a while before buying the mount
Thanks Kenny, yes that’s what I’m worried about, sticking a bulky thing to the screen then never using it
Goddam, an honest review!!
Thanks!

Have you found a better MagSafe mount yet Mark?
Not yet I’m afraid
Magbak
what about put it on the lower edges of the screen?
It's kind of in the way of the wheel and indicators there

Thanks, yeah im not sure how long the sticky pad would last!
I think that's a better one than the one i have, coz you can mount it on the top of the edge of your right screen
Yes that looks better I think, however it does block the road a little
can you not have the phone
horizontally. Put me on your list to take the holder off your hands please.

A nice little HUD would be good
Utterly pointless in my opinion. The entire point of the model 3 design is that it’s minimalist and this just looks out of place.
Yeah I thought I would like it more than I did
Might work in left drive tesla
Might be worth trying
Seems so pointless, wouldn’t ever use it in my Tesla
Yeah I just wanted it for Google Maps and Waze
Well done for not endorsing the Spigen phone mount - too many people would praise it as it’s a freebie
Thank you, yes I can’t give something a good review just because it’s free, wouldn’t be right.
