While a longer length cable is a welcome addition, I’d like to see them switch from an integral cable to a type c port on the puck. Some third parties do this e.g ESR.
this is what I've been asking for. My whole travel charging kit is USB-C except this puck. If they can add a left side swich, they can add a USB-C port and skip the puck altogether
Got 2 different ones and it cooks my 16 pro max. I would expect a little warm like wired charging but not hot where its uncomfortable to use rhe phone 🔥. I returned them
$40 for puck, $20 for new block. Such a waste of money 😆 the provided cable with the right block can get u 27w. I have multiple cables all around the house and car. Usb c cables are dirt cheap. Only wireless i have is my nightstand. 3rd party unit for $20. Charges all my devices iphone, watch, and airpod. Slower 7.5w speed but by the time i wake up. Its fully charged.
Looks like an engineering fail to not provide a short rubber boot where the cable inserts into the puck, as even the cheapest devices provide. The boot provides a buffer zone, spreading out the bending forces along the wire where it inserts into the puck. With no boot, the wires are going to bend around the sharp edges of the insertion point and fail quickly with use.
What I am really interested in is this… I have the iPhone 16 Pro max I have 2 MagSafe external battery packs. When I am filming I want faster charging from those batter packs. This is really painfully slow. So that would be the most helpful to me. I have a gimble but I can not use my MagSafe batter with said gimble.
I like the faster charging speeds on my 16 PM, but one downside to the new puck is the dimensions while extremely tiny are smaller on the new one. So my old stand which fits the original MagSafe puck very snuggly and can withstand the phone being removed without it budging, the new puck without a phone even attached simply falls out of the holder as its loose. Why the hell Apple needed to change the dimensions I'll never know but this has a good chance of breaking the majority of MagSafe holders out there unless it's been designed specifically for the new one.
agreed about the apple chargers. there is no way you 'need' an apple 30w charger. all these claims always state 'up to 25w', as i highly doubt you are gonna get get 25w sustained for the entire charge. just like with '80w' wired chargers, youll see 80w for the first couple mins, then the phone will draw more like 30w for the rest of teh charge to balance heat and other variables
I'm at 93% on my 15 Pro Max with 95% of my charging done on a Belkin "MagSafe" charger. I'm considering the updated MagSafe charger for my 16. I just came to this review to see if the charger was the same size as the older one to see if it would work in some of my MagSafe holders, but I see you answered that in a comment... Same diameter but thinner.
87% battery life on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Always charged via Apple Mag Safe. Going to keep paying for Apple Care+ after my 2 year plan ends as clearly my phone will dip below 80% in the first half of next year. I don't use my phone hard at all. I actually use my iPad and Apple Watch much more. So not real impressed.
A few months ago I drilled a hole a shelf on the wall behind my couch to put in a chi charger. After a week it gave up on me. But the MagSafe charger I have next to my bed never failed me. I think im getting this one and getting a mount or something so I can replace that charger I have in the shelf. This seems perfect 👌
The old puck also charges faster now .. and this one has not impressed me tbh. There are times it’s faster but other times it has not. Sure if great but I wouldn’t buy the new one if you have the old one.
You’ve got to admire Apple for its industry leading innovation. It’s taken the one meter cable and doubled it to two meters. That’s twice the cable than previous versions. Quite possibly the longest 1 meter cable ever. If it wasn’t for this type of technical leap we’d still be in the dark ages. I look forward to iCable Pro Max Plus. The mind boggles what might be possible or how expensive that will be.

That's a good suggestion. Would be cool to see.
same. every single wireless charger offers this, idk why its only magsafe chargers that have the cable built in
@@varunaXmost i’ve seen the cable is part of it. you’ll thinking of charging stands.

just what I was looking for - thanks for taking the time to put this content together.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!

2:05 wowwww I’m pissed thinking my recent MagSafe purchase is the new one. Thanks for pointing this out wtf I’m returning as we speak
Dang. Glad I could help you within the return window!

That’s correct. Sorry I missed that info in the video itself.
You could also just order the 2m SKU, as that's going to be the new version 😉
True. 😆
Has the charging cable changed for the watch ultra 2 ? only the 3 in 1 MagSafe I have doesn’t charge and the watch just “‘dings”
the way Apple implement this magsafe is really the most perfect wireless charging among other ...kudos!!!
Thanks for the video..I really do not understand why you wouldn’t just charge with a regular cable.

Sounds like a fun project, good luck!

Also Amazon product description still says 15w for some reason , but it’s the new one.
I have heard the new puck is smaller in size, is this true?
The size of the circle is identical, but the new one is slightly thinner. They're very close, though.
iPhone 16 and later? Slow down Tex lol
Haha, fair. I’m hoping people are still watching the video a year from now, though.
