    Answered in this question:
How do you prepare for the semen analysis?
What is the process at the clinic?
    Do you need an appointment?
Do you collect on site or at home?
Do you need to keep the sperm warm?
What is checked in the semen analysis?
What does it mean if the volume was low?
What does the pH of sperm mean?
What is congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens?
    What does the concentration reflect?
Do we need a semen analysis if someone has had kids before?
    How long does sperm live?
What is a normal concentration of sperm?
How does heat impact the sperm
    What is a normal motility?
What is the total motile sperm count?
    What is morphology?
What does it mean if sperm are abnormally shaped?
How can I improve sperm counts?

So does it matter if the sperm that meets the egg is abnormally shaped? Is there any kind of repercussions if an abnormal shaped sperm meets the egg? Or do only sperm that are normally shaped meet the egg?

Can you do a video on Advanced Paternal Age? Are there an diagnostic tests you can take for genetic mutations and all that??? My partner is 48 and we are planning on trying next year, but it's just so difficult to find good information on male fertility especially for older men. This was an excellent video by the way.

My husband has no vas deferens… We don’t know any other couple who has experienced this… we’ve done 2 rounds of ivf abroad without success. I’m still unclear… Would a sperm extraction give results similar to an ejaculatory semen analysis? Because our clinic never gave us results… the doctor simply said everything looked good and my husband is azoospermic but still fertile. The doctor actually went on to say my husbands results looked better than a lot of his other patients… which my brain processed as “ok they did test for motility, etc”
Also is surgery an option for this type of case? Like a vas deferens stent or something?

My reproductive endocrinologist (REI) said I need IVF mostly because of my huz’s abnormal sperm analysis.
So we followed up with a urologist who said an abnormal semen analysis only affects male fertility by about 5-10% & that a low sperm count, abnormal morphology & low concentration & motility doesn’t really decrease the chances of fathering a child much. He also sent a list of medical journals to back his statement & said sometimes reproductive endocrinologists (REI’s) make you more scared than you need to be maybe for opportunistic reasons.
This seriously sucks. Maybe time to see another REI & for a second opinion on whether IVF is warranted. 😞

Hi! If my husband has 99% of the sperm with morfology big head, but the motility and volume are very good, does that means that the baby may come with a problem?

Can citalopram cause low sperm count and low motility? I’ve found one article that said it might but have you seen this in your practice. We became pregnant easily with our first, now 2 years later we are ttc and found out my husband has almost no sperm. We have a repeat semen analysis and consultation next week.

What kind of doctor does my husband have to go to for a semen analysis ? Or does it have to be a fertility clinic ?

I need help, (we’re going to see a urologist soon, but thought I’d just ask anyway…) So my husband took an SA and everything came back normal, EXCEPT his volume. It was super low…0.5. What could that mean if everything else is normal??? I don’t understand 😕

I will probably address a silly question: after having a baby 2 y ago, and still bfeeding, I did not have a period at all for 2 years. We always wanted another baby. So the first menstruation I had after 2 years, I took the ovulation tests and the first time I ovulated we tried to conceive again. It just happened, I am 37 and I do not know yet if I am or not pregnant. My question: since I did not hve menstruation for 2 years or ovulated, is the quality of the eggs affected in any way the first time I ovulated after the 2 years? In my silly brain I am wondering, did I have to wait for any weak eggs to be eliminated trough a few cycles and then try? Sorry for my ignorance and stupidity. Thank you!!!

Yep! watching how I blasted all over the "place" in less than a month was shocking, I used what I talked about the other day, and although it actually took about 5 weeks for my volume to double, I just go'ogled Jan Venstaker's Shooting Ropes and her reaction has been priceless!

I'm 33 with a very regular 28 day cycle (+-1.2 days). My husband had low testosterone but is now decently in the normal after losing weight on a WFPB diet. We are just starting to try for our first (it's been 3 years since he's been on any testosterone). How long should we wait to see if there were any long term effects from the year he was on testosterone?

Sperm regenerates after about 3 months. But it doesn't hurt to get a sperm analysis if you're concerned!

Hi, my husband and I have been trying for over 3 years. My doctor put me on clomid for 7 months, and we had no luck. She wants my husband to go have his sperm checked. We unfortunately don’t have a office in our town, but we do have a cvs and they have a sperm analysis kit. Would you recommend the kit from the store?

    • @alexarobertson17
      @alexarobertson17 Год назад +1

Idk how much the cvs kit costs, but amazon has them for around $25. It doesnt test for motility or anything other than if the count is "normal" we used one when my hubby was coming off of TRT.
