I agree the l5p duramax are wrowdy when you add more fuel and air, allong with changing the cp4 to the cp3, good to know gm is finally bumping up the numbers for the 2023 l5p to 505hp and 1,087 torque
@@POINTBLANKPERFORMANCE No problem, TFL truck on youtube made a video on youtube regarding the new numbers for 2023 but their has been a couple of articles online confirming the new hp and torque numbers for the hd pickups for 2023 with the 6.6 duramax engine
L5p doesn’t have an cp4 pump but a denso hp4 pump which is capable of 800+hp and Gm also add a factory lift pump which no other pick up truck company has a factory lift pump
Another thing is that the 2020+ duramax has a hood scoop which creates Ram air which give better turbo efficiency, 60% of the air comes from the hood scoop and 40% comes from the traditional fender air box. So the dyno doesn’t bring the full potential of the duramax since you can’t create the Ram air effect while being in one spot.
So I’m a 22yr Vet and now a travel nurse I go around the nation helping hospitals when they have nurse shortages. I tow 16-18k through out the year I’d like to be in 500s whp and over 1k tq. What needs to be done so my truck can run cool and efficient while towing? My truck 2022 DRW Highcountry Duramax Also I don’t see anyone doing any upgrades to the intercooler

Did you have to do anything special to fit the 37s? I have a 20 with a leveling kit and the 35s look tiny just worried the 37s would rub crazy or I have to cut the hell out of it I'm still on stock wheels also

@Dante Bauccio Nothing has unlimited power handling potential - Nothing. But I don’t think there is a more robust connecting rod/wrist pin/piston combo in a OE, medium duty V8 diesel. Have you seen a 2020-up 6.7 Powerstroke kill a rod or piston from strictly cylinder pressure or RPM? Not a disaster from strictly from power. Has anyone seen a 2020+ Powerstroke bend a rod (not from hydrolock) at 900 HP?

Because I’ve seen Gen 1 & 2 failures but I haven’t seen any Gen 3s fail at 800-900 without extenuating circumstances. Gen 2s were holding 700+ rw pretty well and they are downright dinky compared the to Gen 3 parts.
Banks proved the l5p duramax is a beast with the right components. Problem is gm holds it back. I dont feel like dropping big money into a truck to get the performance right after how much these rigs cost. I think the Duramax engine is prob the most robust out of the two but I had to get me a powerstroke got tired of waiting for gm.

We won’t even go into that snowplow with CV joints (well known weak point) that GM puts in the front end of all their 4x4’s, or transmissions so bad that they have to put in Allison trannys or jump in bed with Ford to beg for help with an in house 10 speed, so say again, what about Ford ? LOL, they haven’t even figured out that round tires do not go in square wheel wells…Lol

My current truck has 200k on the odometer and the only reason I am getting a new one is because of the Tremor package. So yea I think I will buy another one, their track record with me has been spotless for 34 years.
Funny. I used to be a FORD boy until a long string of disappointing events. My buddy just bout went bankrupt trying to keep his power stroke running. My Chevy 2001 has a 1/4 million miles and counting. I havent babied it by any stretch. Everywhere I went I was heavy on the long skinny pedal. Still running like a champ after more abuse then any FORD could survive. You're old, so Im sure you babied those fragile rigs you had.
I just traded in my first and last powerjoke 6.4 that I owned for almost 7 years and as much money spent for maintenance and time I spent watching videos to stay on top of it trying to keep it reliably it was becoming exhausting! Although it never left me on foot at 193k it developed a ticking noise. I figured it was the 6.4’s 1,000,000 mile time bomb. On top of that my home town ford dealership treated our new titanium edge that we bought from them like a 20 year old used clunker. Unless it’s a 7.3 I will not buy another ford. I never had problem engine wise with my two 5.9 Cummins/6 speed. Traded the ford for our first 2022 Duramax and it’s very nice truck. Pulls like a dream. When you get to my age you want reliable vehicles not who has this and has that. Everyone has their own reasons why they like something over another. Good video!

California is not allowing ECU tuning anymore. It will not meet CA SMOG anymore. Not even banks derringer meets them anymore. The only thing I think you can do is a S&B intake now.
This is not a fair comparison because the trucks are designed to make their power in different ranges. Should have been done from 1st on up.. just do straight pulls. I think Ford would beat it but this would be a fair test, and of course we know the stock rims n rubber has to be on it.

I added a BDS 6.5" t I my AT-4 with 1" spacers. No rubbing with 37's

The Duramax is definitely less robust than the Gen 3 Powerstroke - talking long blocks.

I own a 1st gen 6.7 powerstroke but that dyno shows the duramax a carry power and torque throughout the powerband better than the powerstroke did.
My PS dyno’ d more in 8th than it did 7th, twice.
