I recently got into niche fragrances and I went to a niche perfumery and smelled over 100 niche fragrances and I came gone with Montale-Arabians Tonka, the niche ones I had before is Kilian love don’t be shy, Mancera-holidays, Oud satin mood, Tom Ford santal blush. The next on my list is Initio side effect, BDK smoking rouge, xerjoff Erba Pura and PDM Safanad.
I'm on my 2nd bottle of Bal d'Afrique..I just love it! And also agree with Atomic Rose. both are compliment getters for me and it works in the heat and humidity of the South Pacific. Aside from that, a fragrance that would be easy on the nose for niche beginners (in my collection) would be BDK Gris Charnel and FdB Santal Complet.
You are my fav fragrance RUclipsr! Your channel is binge watch worthy! ❤️ In this video the descriptions of the niche fragrances and the comparisons to brand fragrances are so helpful and really spark my interest.
PDM Delina, Phylosikos, Baccarrat Rouge 540 are my go -tos for easy wear, depending on the season, and easy to wear. I also love Jo Malone's Orange Blossom. (Perhaps not considered niche though.)
The fragrance that sounds interesting to me is Gentle Fluidity Silver because do love the Bleu De Chanels and Dior Sauvage, but I'm also searching for a fresh and clean scent, but also versatile.
I know... I have a few buying guides planned over the next two months (super excited to share these!) but will definitely be looking at a kilian guide in the new year!
I just bought the Gentle Fluidity Silver yesterday after thoroughly testing it on me and NO REGRETS! I know they market the silver one towards men but it just goes so well on me 🥰 I can’t stop smelling myself!
Funny, I only like Bal D'Afrique when it's very hot and it mixes with my perspiration. The only niche fragrances I have that I would recommend to beginners are Montale Intense Cafe/ Mancera Roses Vanille, and I agree with the commenter who said Atelier Cologne frags such as Vanille Insensee. Most of of my favorite frags are controversial, though, not mass appealing.
Gonna get my sister Atomic Rose for Christmas and I think she'll like it as Delina Exclusif is her go to perfume. My first niche purchase was Layton and was definitely happy with it. It really is a safe buy when first entering the niche world. I'm glad you reviewed Hacivat in this video as I have a sample on the way.
Hi Josephine A good list of fragrances for beginners to step into the niche world 👍 Parfums de Marly is definitely a tip, you mentioned Layton and this fragrance is perfekt suitable also Percival or Galloway and some others from the house. Creed from Aventus and all niche fragrances with a similar scent DNA (not clons) are suitable, you mentioned the fantastic Nishane Hacivat, in addition Tiziana Terenzi Orion and Roja Parfums Elysium. From Amouage I think Reflection Man and Honour Man fit into the category, also Rehab from Initio, DesirToxic from M. Micallef and maby Santal Complet from Fragrance Du Bois. Escentric Molecules is niche, so Molecule 01 and 02 fit in and they less explessensive as all the others. Greetings from germany
@@jusderose well It's one of the greatest perfumery chain in Argentina, so I don't have any reason to priorly distrust them. But, you're right and I will check it as soon as I get it. Thank you for the advice. I tell you later. Thank you so much! (Sorry about my English, is not my first language)
Wind Wood by Mancera is a very gentleman-y violet-woodsy fragrance with a leather touch Cedrat Boise (no comments needed on this one) Neroli Ispahan by Boucheron (it's a prive fragrance, so I consider it niche) - it's a great neroli scent that feels a lot richer than your Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino Molecule 02 - I see it as a "niche Sauvage"
Alexandria fragrances inspiration of Layton called Royal Equestrian is pricey alternative and I think as a scent is better and will give you more compliments than original.Buy 15 ml travel spray and check,I'm not a fan of dupes or Layton either but in this case Alexandria wins easily , maybe is more synthetic and sharper but still first choice.
Another great video 😊 unrelated topic however for me i used floris special No 127 lasted all day for me was only a little sample i also have floris No 89 both autumn winter fragrances both really good definitely recommend review when convenient for you
Have you tried the Floris 127 bath oil? Oh my god, that entire wing of your house will smell like heaven for the the rest of the week, or permanently if you bath in it every week. So elegant, especially as a gift for men who love a good long soak. :)
Great video!!! Just started getting into niche this year. Layton is by far my favorite scent ever! Also loving Herod and Viking. Been considering a couple by Diptyque as well.
😉 In my opinion Hacivat shines even more in the colder seasons. Its the sunshine on my skin when everything turned grey outside. 😎 Alexandrias interpretation is not as dark and can be layered great with Full Incense imo ❤️
Great fragrance selection and wonderful review with that cool music on the background. Peau de Pierre looks like YSL M7 Fresh, hope to try it. Noir 29 is a great fragrance indeed. Cheers👍👍👍
Hey! Love the fashion. If I was buying any of these purely on a name basis it would be Gentle Fluidity and Atomic Rose. The word combinations glimmer. The closest to niche in my collection is Kokoricho, JPG.
Very different. The Vetiver is more prominent and elegant vs gentle fluidity feels fresher and more bitter. Both are equally sexy, masculine and versatile
@@jusderose Cool, thanks. Would like to find a versatile, everyday niche and Elysium seems hard to beat. Having difficulty finding a Fluidity Silver sample.
I liked initio’s atomic rose but I LOVED initio’s psychedelic love. For rose scents, I preferred atelierdesors rosé omeyyade, though that may not be a good intro to niche perfume because of the spice and wood in it. I actually liked TF’s rose prick best of the Rose scents I’ve smelled because I find it richer and darker even though I know a lot of people find it way over-hyped and it doesn’t fit into your niche theme. Thanks so much for your advice about what to avoid or why you pick certain niches over other options. That’s so helpful where there is a crowded field in certain scents (like rose scents). Curious what you think of Masque’s Russian Tea for a tea scent. (I don’t care for any le labo scents (especially santal 33).)
Atelier Cologne also a relatively easy brand to start with. Musc Imperial, Vanille Insensee, Citron d'Erable, Cafe Tuberosa.... perhaps not the most unique, but certainly easy to like and layer with. Any thoughts on PdM's Greenley?
Oh my god I think I’m not made for niche. I just bought and wore samples of Initio musk therapy and atomic rose. Holt crap they’re strong. Almost headache worthy and Cleary my nose is uneducated - atomic rose I just smell a killer rose potpourri. I didn’t get any compliments and I wore both all day around swanky areas with tonnes of people. Ugh my head 😝
Same here, bought the Initio parfums initiation set and don’t like it at all. Too powdery and sweet. I also tried MFK gentle fluidity silver and it smells divine. It’s a fresh, crisp scent, while also smelling a bit different. I think you’d like it.
Layton does not smell anything like boss bottle. Lot of reviews say this because of the apple note. The two scents are completely different. Apple notes smell very different from each fragrance because they are synthetic. What I get from Layton is a mixture of different oils to make their apple signature note. Where as in boss bottle it smells completely synthetic. Is that a stab at Boss bottle? Maybe... Still both fragrances are great, but don’t buy boss bottle with anticipation that it will smell anything like a Layton scent.
'Peau de Pierre' translates as 'Skin of Pierre'. Isn't that a little gross or am I missing some nuance in the translation? Should I know Pierre and why do I want to smell like his skin?
Salut oui c'est pas faux un avis sur les parfum de Kilan seront très appréciés. Le meilleur et 2 choix par saisons et pourquoi pas les plus sexy, sensuelle et super puissant. Merci Josephine
Am I the only person who finds Roja Dove's fragrances poor performers? I love Enigma Pour Femme but it just completely evaporates-- I don't even get at least one hour of enjoyment, nor can my husband even smell it on me. I refuse to spend that kind of money on a scent that is a 'skin scent', at best. What a cop-out that phrase is; why do women buy it?! What an insult. Anyhow, is it just me? I'd be so appreciative to read about other people's thoughts on the most surprisingly great performer they own. All fragrance recommendations gratefully received. Thank you. :)
Is Starck a niche house though? I was lucky enough to find it a while back and took it with me. I'd say it also has a smokey vibe in the base won't you agree? Great video Josephine
For a rose fragrance, what do you think of À la rose by Maison Francis Kurkdjian? It was recommended to me and I’m wondering how it’s different from Atomic Rose? Don’t know which one should I try first (roses are my favorite flower scent). Thank you!
I’ve smelled both of those and I preferred atomic rose but they are quite similar. Both are very definitely bright fresh rose scents. However I found MFK a la rosé to be a bit dated like a rose soap you’d smell at grandma’s house. Atomic rose is certainly a fresh fizzy rose that to my nose didn’t smell as dated as MFK a la rose, and was just a hint sweeter, but I think MFK a la rosé had a bit stronger projection. Of course it all comes down to taste which is subjective, but that’s my two cents!
@@jusderose THANKS! I literally smelled them side to side about 1 week ago (along with Rose Ommeyyade and Portraitof a Lady) and took notes, so I felt equipped to offer an opinion!
