(UPDATE) Abandoned Mausoleum Update 7-16-2022- Neglected Cemetery Littered With Trash Also Explored!
Thanks so much for showing us all that Cranston has done to secure the mausoleum from entry. Seeing all the previous videos over the years truly broke my heart, but yours went a long way toward reassuring me that positive action is being taken to protect the remaining deceased people inside. Hopefully there will someday be a permanent solution to this sad problem.
Tyvm for the follow up, King. I'm sorry I replied so much in this video. I guess I felt really compassionate for this cemetary, that its in disrepair & neglect. It should be restored, to a newer much nicer glory, that more ppl might pay to have a final resting place. Again, I'm sorry. This video did justice, and for that, I thank you.
There are family members of very prominent families in there like the Crockers. Send the list to the Rhode Island genealogical society. They may be able to contact others who could contribute money to secure the site. Unbelievable.
Thank you both for another fab explore!😀
Thank you for the update. The condition of the place is still terrible. So sad.
Please follow my reply, as a Canadian,( had to say, lol) I find this a total embarassment and a complete abomination. Utterly disgracefull.
That structure is well built.
Water intrusion especially with freeze - thaw cycles will destroy any building structure regardless of how well it is built.
When you lose the roof & water intrudes; rapid deterioration will result.
Buildings need lifetime of maintenance to last.
The roof wasn't built well or the water wouldn't have got in🤦
So you actually believe that a 100 year old structure requires zero maintenance over the years to remain leak free?
Really?
WOW that cemetary is crap... if i was buried there i would get out of the ground take my casket and tomb stone and move somewhere else
It looks better with all the trees, shrubs and trash plants gone but there’s no saving that building with the roof rotting like it is. It must have been beautiful when it was new and cared for.
I wish I was living in the neighborhood I will be there every weekend to clean up the graveyard
Good afternoon. This place looks fab!
I went to a service here in either 2000 or 1995 I cant remember the year my aunt who is now 98 knew one of the Cullen sisters and I can remember being there when they interned her and man was this place in bad shape back then I couldn't belive they allowed her to be pit to rest there the building was in horrible disrepair even then I can remember seeing rusted pipes and a leaking roof
Hi Rusty, for being built in the 1920’s this place did not hold up well at all. The water damage made quick work. I’m also glad that you were able to comment that you had witnessed the neglect even before the Sisters had passed away. I’m sure that they were doing the bare minimum near the end. Thank you for watching! I appreciate it very much.
@@KingOfExploring It was something else there was a junk car out in front of the building for a long time. I told my aunt the other day just how bad the building has gotten as she is still local and she told me she tried to go and pay her respects in about 2010 and even by then there was a fence around the property and homeless people seemed to be living inside, such as that gigantic abandoned train station in the same town. Thanks for the videos.
Another person commented on the graves that look pretty new.
I agree they do!
I just finished watching this video, now I'll check out your prior videos. Cemetery plots aren't cheap, I bet that cemetery is cheaper than most but all passed loved ones deserve respect!
It would be nice to know who is responsible for this cemetery. Is it the City of Cranston, a church or some private entity? It looks like someone did make an honest effort to secure the mausoleum and clean things up a bit. It would be nice to know what efforts were attempted inside to re-secure the coffins and remains shown in your previous video. This is going to be an ongoing endeavor to maintain the grounds. Whenever you have individuals without good breeding, a lack of good parenting and no respect for themselves or others, this will continue. Good job bringing this to everyone's attention.
Thanks for the video I can't believe how disrespectful people are we live in sad times this makes me so angry
Kinda of crazy instead of fixing it or relocating those that can be they close it up further to let it rot away. If there are no trespassing sign that suggests this is now private property which should be the responsibility of the owners to have this taken care of. If it's the city that owns it and its no long "public property" than they need to set an example and take care of their own stuff...absolutely ungrateful disgusting people that live in this world.
I didn't even make it to the all the trash! The actual disrespect! Why are people like this?!
I don't understand how people can get mad at you for saying the location because the news directly named the cemetery, and really the more people that see this and petition the city to maintain the place the better. I don't know about there but here in Canada people pay for their graves to be maintained in the cost of their funeral service, how is there not lawsuits over this, especially with so many families involved due to the size of the cemetery??
*Probably the company running this place went bankrupt. Who are you going to sue, the corpses?*
Thanks for the update video! Now all the decay is hidden, which is good to keep further vandalism out, but bad because it keeps videos from showing even more interior destruction that could bring down the building and might put pressure on government to do something. If it collapsed I would not want to be on the demo crew, bad karma to be scooping up remains in a dump truck.
Lets go an dump are trash in graveyard who in heck does this .
Keeping the brush choped down is the biggest thing
Send you concerns to the county department of parks and buildings and maybe they can take control of the property and have paid gardeners come in to keep up the grounds. We have had that done here in Western Pennsylvania.
I don’t see the point of complaining about the condition of the cemetery if you are not willing to do much about it. If it’s really that great of a concern, work with the city to organize a clean up or volunteers to maintain it. It sadly costs money to maintain these places, we can either use tax dollars to maintain these places or use other alternatives. If there are deaths dating back to the 1700’s it should have some historical significance which can spur some action. It’s been done in many places.
Thanks KOE for the update. Maybe now those inside, for what it is, can have a tomb
that will no longer be violated. It probably is inside like it was on your last visit except
for the families that paid $6,000 dollars to have their loved ones removed. Since no
municipal money will come, the roof and rest of the decaying foundations will probably
continue in their deterioration until it collapses. It doesn't look like the dumping on the
perimeter of the property is monitored and will continue to pile up until another complaint
gets it picked up 😥
Hey King, I have an important question to raise? I fully understand, that you did this follow up, and for that, ( and I do not speak for all) am eternally greatful, however, I feel that the city is not doing more enough for the city, and of those, deaceased( and recently, departed) I am not a champion for justice, but now seeing trashbags around there, is still not doing enough. If I could do a petition online, to get signatures, and to support that the city do more for this graveyard, as the shape its in, I could name you towns, in Ontario Canada, that would astound you, that each cemetary has an office, at the front gate, or if its a small rural hamlet cemetary, the Ward or township's office deals with that. I have some concerns, I would like to address.
1. Place garbage cans at every exit. ( no food or drink should be in these places, so no garbage. Town can empty these with a small fraction and town folk who does garbage could change these, usually its city maintenance)
2. One of the trees, should be cut down, as sketchy ppl might attempt to climb in the mauseleum still.
3. The magic of a weed whacker..wow eh?
4 There should be a proper wall setup, where dirt and sand should be placed. There sgould be a reinforced cement wall setup to place the dirt and sand from the cemetary to bury the dead.
I just could go on, but idc about state laws, but the city is being to hymie with the "slushfund" it collects from state tax, as I firmly believe it can do more. I have spent time enjoying this and everyone of your videos( and will continue to follow with great enthusiasm, but the city needs to do more, and so, in saying this, may I use this exact youtube link to show this city, how irresponsable they have been, and that more should be done. I feel that there is a great injustice here, and the city can hire anyone, to come mow the lawn. I'm sorry. The trash? Put a proper front n back gate up, and have them post hours of service to deter the " transients". There should be absolutely no one in there, after hours.
Lol done rant.
Thank you.
Yeah, and who pays for this? You? The city doesn’t have responsibility for this.
@@thomasmint1761 um.its on city property. City has a damnnright to look after this
Is this the Roger Williams Mausoleum in Cranston, Rhode Island?
I’m surprised this cemetery don’t have wardens. You would never get away with dumping even more so in a cemetery in England.
Not here in the USA. It would be the city police to patrol but they are busy with more important things. They wouldn’t bother with a cemetery.
Does not matter. City Police are to drive by and make checks. If the city put gates at every entrance, and the city works or municipal works could lock up at say 6pm and reopen at 8am, not hard for police to drive by, and if the surrounding folk who live beside it could make the calls, if they saw shady ppl, or installed fake cameras on huge posts or around building, Loss Prevention & Fire & Security( maybe hiring or outsourcing local security companies, the city should hire. Hmmmm🤔
@@NeonRacer73 I live in a town in Ontario, Canada and all of our cemeteries are open overnight, with no guards, just police occasionally driving by, but there is never dumping or damage like this. Once every 5 or 10 years some idiot might break a few headstones, but there has never been a case of desecrating someone's actual remains, that takes some truly sick and twisted individuals.
@@douggiles7647 oh I agree. Trenton, Ontario here, and around here, and going up to Tweed or Madoc, there are a ton of pioneer cemetarys, and even in Peterborough or Belleville, who breaks into Mausaleams? Ya...
By the way be careful and try not to walk on the graves, heard this story a gravedigger walked on one and the ground gave way and he fell right through the coffin! True story!!
He (or his predecessors) must have been slacking at his job and not burying people as deep as he should, there should be around 2 metres of dirt on top of the lid so for himself to actually go through the roof of the casket it would have to be much shallower than that because it would be physically impossible to fall through the 6 feet of dirt if it was there.
Do you have 'still' pictures? If you do where can I see them?
*THEY SHOULD PUT UP CONDOS HERE*
I'm glad it's closed up now. I love to see inside places but it breaks my heart that people are disrespectful and vandalize them.
If it don't get fixed and it does fall down omg the bodies
This is a historic cemetery. What is the name and where is it!
That's such a good idea the little glass house looking things to put the trinkets in
The state of this, cemetery is truly appalling! It's like you say if they bag it, take it away!!! By the way thank you for the link to this update! I would definitely help clean up... Some of the rubbish is probably being spread by the coyotes, but if there was no rubbish it wouldn't be ripped open and spread around, you know what I mean, the smaller bits. It happens here with foxes
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it very much.
Are you in the UK Susan? I know the uk dialect uses “bits, rubbish, and foxes” more than the US. Just wondering lol.
I feel bad for the poor souls inside here, they deserve a pretty place to rest.
Very sad that these families with loved ones in the mausoleum can't even go inside to pay their respects. They have to do it from the curb. That's the whole point of being put in a mausoleum.
What goes up will come down.
I'm getting buried in the ground!
The mausoleum concept falls apart when:
a) they're full up - and there's no money to be made by selling new slots .
b) two generations pass, then no one visits nor cares. 🥀
Dude what dies it wmell like in there??
Such a shame when fly tipping takes place.
If you get caught fly tipping your fined £1000 pounds and given a criminal record if your a repeat offender your vehicle is taken away and crushed.
What is fly tipping? You mean kicking down gravestones?
@@NeonRacer73 meaning to dump trash illegally
@@anxiousmofo6673 gotcha
Also has anyone from Find a Grave been out there to do a survey?
Do you think that your first two videos spurred them to do what little they did? I wonder if they did anything inside?
Yes, it was my second video and the local news covering it. That is when they cleaned up the outside and secured the building. I spoke to a city worker. They didn’t touch the inside.
@@KingOfExploring so little respect for the dead! Just trying to make themselves look better by securing the outside! Thanks for the update!
@@lisaforsythe5325 anytime! I couldn’t get back inside but I hope that you still enjoyed the videos
@@lisaforsythe5325 I think they haven't done enough, actually.
@@NeonRacer73 I totally agree.
All of the windows are now boarded shut
What a tranquil place!
'Secured the place now' - righttt, after millions of dollars damage has been done, now they secure it, so typical of today's way of dealing with things! No effort to prosecute those that did the damage who I guarantee the Town Supervisor and Police know who were responsible for doing all the damage but they have no guts to pursue them! I'd like to see you go down and interview the Town Supervisor and Chief of police, yah, that would be interesting to hear what they have to say about this entire situation; 'well we're so busy with issuing traffic tickets, got a backlog, and the schools, yah, schools are taking a lot of time arresting the parents on the LBTQ stuff, yah, we're busy, then we have thousands of migrants being sent up from Florida to deal with, yah, we're too busy to run after juveniles destroying millions dollars of property' - Right Mayor, thanks for you time, hope we didn't disturb your coffee breaks!
Who owns this cemetery? Is it owned by the Town? County? Privately owned? Corporation owned? In other words, who has responsibility here? Is this what we can all expect in the future for our own graves? This is the main reason to be buried at sea, nobody's going to f... with your grave out there!
Once the roof goes that'll be it 😮
I wonder if they cleaned up anything inside or if it´s still a mess..
I believe they labeled the inside as so "screwed up" that they just sealed the whole place shut and left it as it was seen on previous footages.
🙏🏻
All the brush probably caused this damaged
All Mausoleums will eventually fall into disrepair.
This is so sad 😢
ok so they did the stricked minimum so people with bad intentions don't get in AND people with good intension that could make them look bad. the trash must still be in there and the roof will never be fixed. mark my words in 10 years this building is gonna fall.
Yes, the minimum. Im surprised the roof hasn’t already collapsed. Sadly, that cemetery is always a ness. Trash everywhere and all over grown. Its very sad to see.
@@KingOfExploring i saw that, is it in a big city? somewhere in a low income area?
@Lorn Harding it is in the bad area of Cranston, RI near the border of Providence.
@@KingOfExploring wow ok that explains some of the garbage.
@@KingOfExploring Sadly I feel like they locked the place up to keep you and other people who could report their failure out, because those signs mean nothing to the people who already desecrated graves. But it will keep law-abiding people like you out so you can't show that they're still doing nothing with the people inside..
Wow what an experience to see live coyotes just amazing.
I’m not afraid of any animals I would must likely approach them.😀
They can be dangerous if in a pack but there was only two and they were more afraid of us.
I know they can attack.
I look at it another way I was in a cage with two lionesses awaiting release😀😀
When my times up it’s up!
And what a way to go.😂🤣👍👍
Some one should be responsible for thus cemetery just think if there family was layed to rest there I'm sure it would be totally different how sad and disrespectful 😢 the city or county should be ashamed
Why ain't prisoners/inmates out here tidying this up chain gang style.?
They have rights man, rights...
Some of those graves don’t look very old.
Some are fairly new. They apparently still have burials at this cemetery.
Yes, there are still some very recent burials. The oldest one I found was 1745
@@KingOfExploring so that’s crazy because someone has to be involved in the arrangements of this burials. Whoever it is needs to be held accountable for the upkeep of the cemetery. Families should not have to do that. The arrangements must be extremely cheap in price….but I would do a cremation before I bury someone in a place like this. Heartbreaking. I hope they fix this.
Where is this?
City of Creston Oakland cemetery
City of Creston Rhode Island
I don’t understand why this is abandoned. Where are the deceased families? How could they allow this ?
Eventually the people buried are not a priority. My kids have never been to their great grandparents graves and neither will their children. My grandparents are buried over an hour away and unless there is a reason to go to that little town, nobody goes. It’s a sad reality. People are buried for those that are alive while they were living. Eventually those people all die and nobody cares. I will be cremated as I don’t want the burden of my grave being on my kids. The dead are not there, their souls are gone and the only thing that remains is dust and bones.
@@alittlewheiser521 I fully agree with you. As a Christian myself, I do believe that a body is nothing after death, just dust and bones... Our soul goes to the presence of our Lord. I don't get why people still mourn the dead as they're in a MUCH better situation than ourselves in this sad world.
All those Armenian flags on the graves. :(
So I guess if you have loved ones there you want to visit, too bad I guess?
Interesting… glad they’re cleaning it up maybe they need a truck ?
They need to get over there again to trim out the brush again.
can we get another update on this spot? inside possibly if you're not too afraid? ...Surely the King of Exploring could handle this?
Why didn't the king pick up the taco bell cup?
Did the king not notice the garbage bag piles are full of leafs and landscaping debris from the people who take care of Cemetery and its sitting in a relatively neat pile until it can be hauled away...probably better to have it collected in bags rather then scattered across the Cemetery right King? I saw about 45minutes worth of cleanup work for a King.
Eventually graves are forgotten about as the generations pass….cremation is the answer.
The city has no obligation to pay for this. The previous owner is insolvent, it is no different than any other company going out of business
Wrong. Just because a business is within a city limits doesn’t mean the cit has the responsibility to save the business. Any business
No respect
