Impressive for first couple of days. Watch more videos and remember them when you skate lol I'm 39 and just started longboarding last covid. Just kick out your rear foot on the apex of your carve when you slide and put most of your weight on your front foot.

Thanks KS for the tip. I will definitely try and remember that. I believe I am doing it but not fully committed to it. I need to be more willing to take the slam in the learning process. Stay Rad Sir. Appreciate you.

I am all in. I want to skate everything and learn as much as I can. I am going to a downhill event this weekend to really get a feel for the community.
I may not make videos forever, but I will skate through my 50s, 60s and beyond. There are many ways to skate so no reason to ever stop.
      Stay Rad Sir.

You'd think riding downhill would be easy, it's just riding down a hill, right? But it's not, there's so much more to it, and fair play to you for getting stuck in properly. I've done a few moderate hill bombs in my time, but I have zero knowledge of the techniques used in downhill, so I'm really just relying on luck if something goes wrong 🤣
I agree with what you're saying about needing a novice perspective when you're learning something new, I feel like that's why a lot of our channels exist, mine included. Sometimes you can take all the pro tips under the sun but it's the dude that just learned it last week that has that last tiny detail you need to complete the puzzle. Stay rad dude 👊

Agree, I learn better from people that are one of two steps better than me. It is hard to learn from someone that is an expert, they make it look easy and small steps, movements and context are missed. They are rad but I personally have trouble figuring out how they are doing what they are doing. So you end up with this video on failing forward. That is the secret to learning. Stay Rad Sir.

Epic! Thanks homie, downhill skateboarding has to be one of the most beautiful sports. I've been a little obsessed with Josh Neumanns Alpine desents videos (rip) and I'm super stoked to enter the world of DH skate.

    5:08 it's called a heelside slide!
I actually have so many tutorials on my channel and a whole playlist! So kinda disappointed my videos didn't turn up when you were looking for tutorials.
There is a playlist with everything called - "How to downhill skate" or something like that

Your videos are great Sir, I have most all of them. My thoughts was it would be helpful, to me, to watch someone being taught that had never done it before. The conversation between teachers and new skater would add a lot of context. I would be where I am now without you help and video. I am grateful 🙏. Stay Rad Sir.

Nice to see you trying new things. I used to do a fair bit of downhill skating and I treated it like a constant flowing wave just carving, pumping and flowing. Confidence at speed I found came from knowing how to scub slide or 180 bert slide at speed which I found was easier with a longer board.

As a kid we were climbing up the hills at night time to do some downhills as we thought it be safer cause there's less car and you could see the lights of the cars coming from far. But that was a bit stupid as we didn't have lights on us, so nobody could see us!😅 Anyway, some great memories. Also slam memories where I burnt my skin on the asphalt 😂... I 'd love to try real downhill but Finland is flat as a lake...

    • @AdventuresInSkateboarding
      @AdventuresInSkateboarding  7 месяцев назад +1

Love this. As a kid in San Diego, it was all down hill because every place you needed to go was on the other side of a hill. Bombing them was second nature. Now trying to learn this genre with style is so different. I really am enjoying it.
It is flat here to but we are not for from amazing hills. I will go to Asheville North Carolina to watch a downhill event in May. It will be Rad. Stay Rad Sir.

Cool! I went through a downhill phase when I was about 32. I lived in a good spot for it.
I highly recommend continuing to hone those bert slides. I used to use that as my braking tool when I went too fast. I went with the frontside version. Grab the board Indy, initiate a heel turn, and hammer your weight into your heels and you can REALLY slide. Knowing that you can dump speed when you need to is super important. Keep it up. You’re going to have some serious fun. 👍
