It isn't about getting the Heelflip. It is about the conversation. Part 1 is the Video just under 5 minutes Part 2 is the give away anout 10 minutes. Congrats to the winner
Just brilliant! After a knee injury last year, weight gain & probably age (69 this year) my surfing has deteriorated to the point where I can no longer get to my feet - 100% failure rate! Diet, walking, weights - no improvement, just endless frustration! But, here's my solution, graphically demonstrating that persistence, practice & perseverance are the key & that success will come in its own sweet time! THANKYOU!! Sometimes we just need to hear it from someone else, big respect! :) PS have you ever tried skating a pump track? Tempted to try my surfskate out on one - just not getting enough injuries on the Esk8!!
Praying for your recovery and your journey my friend🙏. I can relate more than these videos may show. I have a smashed spine and sciatica down my legs. Feet haven't stopped tingling in 3 years. Also need both shoulders fully replaced, the ball and sockets are finished. All that said, we have good days and bad days. We have to take advantage of the good days. Weight is a battle for sure. I am only 47, I can't imagine fighting it in my 60s. But we push on. It is all we know. You got this. The passion is greater than the obstacles. Seriously 🙏 for your journey. Not that you will recover, but you will recover stronger than ever. Stay Rad
@@nottherealmccoy4955 coming up on the first retirement. 22 more months. That will take me to 30 years. Grateful for every day of it. However, time to hand it over to the next generation. We will see what comes next. Kite surfing is definitely on the short list.
I feel you when it comes to losing that heelflip. That's been me and treflips recently. The mindset you have with approaching the wins and losses is something I admire. Have a good day sir! 🤙
Tbf the amount of time and effort you put into that battle is probably a whole session for me. Fair play for pushing through and getting a clean one. 🤘 Congrats to the winner!
I'll do the same thing trying a trick i know i can do, and waste a full session lol. It's funny my comment came up. i purposely didn't comment the keyword's because i have enough board's and i wouldn't have skated it. Im glad it went to someone more worthy! Stay Rad Sir! U.S.A
We just have to battle it out. Can't let the bad days win. 🙏 Not more worthy Sir. Just good timing. We will inspire Elder to get out a little more. I am blessed and addicted. I have too much skate stuff. It is fun to give it away either locally or here. Stay Rad Sir
Heelflip is the one trick that comes and goes for me the most, it’s incredibly frustrating. You’re right though it’s not the board or anything else it’s all on me and it’s just one of those things. That second one you got was so clean. Congrats to Elder skates, he’s a good dude
Frustrating for sure. But I also think this is part of why we love skateboarding. It isn't guaranteed, you have to put in the work. The rollaways mean nothing without the battle that earned you the trick. Thanks for checking it out. Down Hill video next ‼️ stay Rad
Just found your channel from Rad Old Rat! Man congrats to the winner! I hate I missed out on the giveaway. G&S was my jam back in the day. My first wide deck was a "Scoop Nose" probably about 82-83. not to mention one of my favorite shortboards was a G&S back in the day as well. subbed.
I am a G&S guy as well. Lots of G&S make it way into the channel. Have you been in the G&S website. They have a lot through backs. Thanks for checking out the channel. Stay Rad
@@AdventuresInSkateboarding I have checked out the G&S site recently, stoked to see they are still at it. I traded a new Powell Sword & Skull popsicle for a "Heated Wheel" shaped deck a few months ago, (Blender's company) so I still feel the G&S vide a little lol! This is my second comeback to skating after 20yrs. My first time getting back to it was in the early 2000s and forums were all there really was for inspiration. Its good to see all the old-schoolers still out there on YT.
@GreybeardSkates I stopped pushing in 89. Tried to get my kids into it around 2006. Only had an Ollie at the time. Didn't touch a board again until Dec of 2017 at age 41. I haven't put it back down since. Welcome back. I skated one heated wheel. It was cool. I passed it a long to a young shredder. Stay Rad Sir.
That 6 try heelflip to fakie was a beauty. I also wanted to say about a previous video of yours, I saw you do a noseslide to manual which was super cool and I wanted to recommend a halfcab noseslide to manual at the spot or a similar spot like that... just wanted to plant that seed bc I think you can do it.
Adding halfcab variations is definitely on the short list.biy seems to come up a lot in conversation lately. I have spent a good amount of time on a few tricks. Now it is time to do them while skating faster, putting them together in lines, and add variations. Thanks for checking out both videos. Next is Downhill‼️ not a good downhill video but an honest one. Stay Rad Sir
I think Manny Santiago has the best tutorial. Highly recommend it. At the end of the day it is just powering all the way through an Ollie off the front of the nose of the board. I did a video on how I learned heelflips years ago. I think it is a good video. Keep me updated on the progress. Stay Rad.
That is skateboarding Sir. We have to earn it everyday. Frustrating at times. However, it only feeds our determination and oddly our love of it. It makes the rollaway what it is. 🙏. Stay Rad Sir.
Felt like forever because it is a trick I believe I have. There was actually one more make that I didn't put in here because I got so hot I took my shirt off and then boom... Landed it. Had to put the shirt back on and go two more tries ha. The people don't need to see the old man without a shirt 😂.
I lost them permanently about ten years ago. They used to be my easiest trick. But i havent landed one in close to a decade lol. Switch ones work way easier anyway 😂
That is bananas to me that switch is easier. 😂. Fakie is the easiest on flat ground for me. Skateboarding, it is a give and take relationship. We give and it takes. But every now and then skating gives back and that is why we keep pushing. Stay Rad Sir.
@@AdventuresInSkateboarding Oh no those are the worst! I feel like you can't get into a decent flow when you spend so long waiting. Honestly one of my least favourite things about skating. When my friends suggest a park that's full of kids/younger people with no etiquette I tell them I'm glad we came to the WAITPARK 😂
@GoGoSkate out park has great etiquette. The morning sessions are about 5 rad dudes. However, it is hard to get in to flow sometimes. I learn quicker when I can just go one after another. All good though. Once it starts to get crazy I pack it up and head home.
I learned fakie halfcab heelflips yesterday. It's actually an easier trick than I thought it would be. I have the same problem with heelflips, some days I can do them first try and some days it takes me 10 trys. Glad you were able to land a couple heelflips, keep shreddin brother 💚🛹
Congrats on the new trick. I need to work half cabs for sure. I had them a few years back. It would be nice to get some variation. It is frustrating when you know you have the trick but then it is just gone. It is definitely earned session. Stay Rad Sir. And thank you for being on this ride.

Nice battle 35 times is not to bad, I do the same thing for hours in my barn. Nice work. cool board that you gave away too.
Your Barn looks rad. The personal battles are healthy in a way. I just wish I knew when to walk away 😂
As you said it's skateboarding! I used to be a Heelflip guy but nowadays I'm more of a kickfliper 😅 Heelflip almost disappeared and I rarely land one.
