I still looove the style of these cars; I owned one for 17 years. Just wish they would have had more power from the factory. They need tons of power added now just to keep up with the newer Stangs.
Please do a video like this for the 99-04, I know you did an Acceleration power pack video for them a while back but this is so much nicer, seeing a before and after dyno.
Right on! I have a 1998 GT that I would love to upgrade, but there seems to be no step-by step-video for the PI heads. Also, I have the white face gauges from you guys ready to go in my garage. Just gotta find a warm day to do it! I'm sick of this cold, man.
AmericanMuscle.com Please do a pi swap i have a 96 gt pi cams and intake installed still need to put on my heads but full mod list bbk cai/tb/headers off road h pipe, Flowmaster mufflers, underdrive pulleys, sct tuner with chip any one know how much hp i should expect
i recently picked up a 98 GT stock i want to do this powerpack, please respond, if i do all these mods, without a tune would i still see a noticible gain? also the tune is 93 octane so does that mean i dont benefit from it unless i use 93 octane gas, ive only seen 91 in my state. Is their a 91 tune?
You won't see as good of gains but you will feel some increase in power. 93 doesn't matter without a tune however but if you were to get a tune which I highly recommend (a dyno tune is best) but running 91 octane just won't give you as good of gains as 93 I'd say when you get your tune tell them you're going to run 91 octane and make sure they tune it with 91 in the tank.
Great videos! Keep up the good work guys! I just bought a 1997 GT to flip! If it's in the budget I'll definitely be looking into some of your suggestions of mods!
My 1998 gt stock was 223 hp I added a Acufab throttle body 373 gears a small cam cold air intake and exhuast now im pushing a lil 300 hp so the small bolt ons work well for the 2v mustangs
@@eriv4735 Chrisfix did the full exhaust, cold air intake, and pi manifold and only made 210whp (around 250-260 crank) with his 98. No way you made 300hp with just exhaust and intake. You might pick up 10 from the exhaust (probably 0 if you didn't do the mid pipe) and not really anything from the CAI. You get the 78mm intake plenum, ported pi heads w/ oversized valves, ford gt follower, aftermarket cams, full length headers, degree your cams, off road h/x pipe, good flowing mufflers, lightning maf, 24lb injetors, under drive pulleys, and a nice dyno tune. Then you might be right at 300.
@@TheRextc I know this is an older post, but while i mostly agree with what you said, I got a 96 with a trick flow heads kit, victor jr intake, elebrock rails, shorty headers and exhaust and few other small uprgrades and Im at 407 rwhp 415ftlbs torque.

I have picked up a 98 Mustang Cobra. I am very excited as I have had the GT’s previously. It has 130000 miles which is a large number, so I will put in a higher grade of Spark plugs and wiring Will put on some new rims and tires, clean out gas tank and run 9193 Octane through it. Change the oil in engine to synthetic, drain 5 speed transmission and put new clean oil in it, as well as the differential. With this car, should I change the springs out and put in new shocks? What else can anyone recommend looking at I am in process of considering the following, short shifting unit, thinking about the micro chip and tuner, it has good air induction. 26 HP and 34 TQ...and 95% of that was the 93 bama tune. I doubt those parts really added very much. I'd still stick with an accufab tb/plenum and then go with a magnaflow/borla setup for the exhaust.
That automatic Accord V6 of my year dynos about 190 to the wheels... Does that help ? TOV(Temply of VTEC) dyno test my car rated at "240 hp" and an Acura CL Type S and it was rated at "260 hp", they dyno'd within 1 whp of each other. Go figure. Honda rated my engine at 250 hp on 91 octane, it was slightly underrated, and it has a very low drivetrain loss being FF manual.
How come so low horsepower for a v8? My dad has a 2003 cadillac cts that make 210hp and that's just a v6 with a computer install. Could probably go to a dynoed and get it tuned for much more I bet right?
4.6s just suck in general I'm currently swapping my 94 gt to carb with gt40 heads and a cam ditching the aod for a c4 it's a mess right now I removed the pcm harness see how it all works out probably going to get the bottom end redone wile its out to
From a dig, of course. RWD and LSD + 300 lb ft of torque versus FWD and Open Diff + 200 lb ft @ 5000 rpm. But from a roll I am faster because my engine only gets stronger to redline, where his power dies off somewhat past 5k rpm. I have the advantage of 6-speed versus his 5 as well.

With basically a stock NPI motor with PI intake, offroad X, shorty headers, loudmouth catback, C&L plenum, and CAI (same basic mods in this video) on these small specs (in a 98 Mustang 5 spd): 222/226 duration at 050 525/500 lift 108/114 centerlines 111LSA, basically a in between of the stage 1 and stage 2 cam, 273 rwhp 287 rwtq. PI top end swap would yield about 270hp at the crank, not the wheels, and with higher compression. Id say cams could almost be a bolt on part in these cars because they don't take long to do, and aren't too difficult. This was on unported npi heads. Exploit the ptv clearances.

A lot of times people confuse crank horsepower with wheel horse power- so that's probably whats happening here. Factory advertised numbers are always at the crank but through drivetrain loss, horsepower at the wheels is typically less. Hope this clears things up- Justin
Hi Justin, thank you so much for that context! Im familiar with the two ways of measuring, didnt realize ford did it from the crank so now it completely makes sense. Thanks again!
Its not so much the heads as it is the cams and intake. Non pi heads are not bad peices when mixed with the pi intake and the ptv clearance is exploited.

From a single cam 3.0 liter V6, all n/a.... Before you say it has no torque, it had 90% of peak torque from 2000 rpm to 6000.

Well im well aware of that.It has a bigger supercharger on top of a bigger engine so yea.

why is it that when all the cars are dynoed they put out less hp than what google says?

How can I tell if my mustang is a 1994-1998 car
Hey, Carlos! I'd recommend looking your VIN up online, that should tell you the specific year of your car. -Zach
Will not include 94 95
Yet title says 94-04 😑
but it makes 220 whp, same as v6 accord.... rwd loses more power through drivetrain loss then fwd
Oh how little you know 😂
With MIL eliminators, spacing your O2 sensors, or removing the CEL bulb like most of us. lol
needs headers
lol 210 whp my 2004 Accord V6 made 225 stock.... My friend has an 04 mustang gt with cai and flowmaster and dynoed 223 the same day.
I doubt your “Camry” even made 225 at the crank
No, I totally believe you dude..........
definately when stock
What headers did you use?
What if it’s not GT is that ok
As long as you make sure the parts you're buying fit the V6, not the V8, then sure! -Zach

if install is 210 horsepower ,,the difference
Can I get a ticket if. Do this cat back lol
Doubt it
That power curve is just painful to look at. Its like one of those new Turbo Economy cars, all the boost at 1500 rpm and the nothing after 3000 rpm.
they probably figure that foxbody owners have no money to spare or something anyways?
WOW! all those mods and still only put down 210hp. These 2 valve engines are just horrible
Chill dude.
This is around 250 crank hp, not a bad upgrade. Do a pi swap with these mods and it would be closer to 300whp.
This is a 97 not 98
How do you figure?
*Bite
lol. The only bolt-on for a 98 GT worth a damn is a blower.. and that's after a PI swap. This coming from a guy who owns a 98 GT.
Its a baseline Jesse Coleman its almost idle if it was at 4000rpm the difference is going to be greater. Also if fords are shit y r u watching this video
those are pretty bad gains for all the mods u dropped in there...
Im sorry im not trying to hate, but 210hp? my dads 99 v6 stang would rape this thing. You need a 4v in that thing..
96-98 gt's had less hp than 99-04
still no foxbodys?...goodbye
