Marty gets involved with the cartel and goads Del into violence. Which in episode 8 of season 1, it’s revealed how ruthless Del can be when he orders his men to kill an associate who betrayed him. And Bruce Liddell is analogous to Marty’s relationship with his son. He knows Bruce is the loose cannon that needs supervision. Yet much like his parenting style, Marty uses apathy as his leadership/parenting style. And Wendy not only co-signs the $ laundering but then she has an affair. Which leads to her lovers death and never gives that man’s child any truthful resolution about his father. There is nothing lovable or anything someone would want to knowingly chose to root for them. And that’s just from season 1
