I went to San Diego for my first time and stayed a half block away from Sunset Cliffs. The people would treat the sunset like a major event every night just before sunset. Watching your video brought back a lot of memories.
Wow, such a comprehensive video all about San Diego! Your knowledge is really impressive. I second Las Cuatro Milpas for the BEST Mexican food in San Diego. Nothing better than a hole in the wall eatery with ladies behind the counter who freshly prepare your food with those amazing handmade tortillas!

Great as usual Chris! Just one tip for future travelers; we live in Carlsbad just north of the new hotel you mentioned at 53:05. We were watching channel 5 morning news last week and they did a preview of the hotel Alila Marea. Rooms START at $700/night!
I just went to San Diego. I always wanted to go there, and I used your other guide 10 things to do in San Diego. I loved it, and will be going back. Oh and I stayed at The Moxy hotel in the Gaslamp Quarters.
@@YellowProductions wow, I don't know why I just got notification of your comment. The Moxy is really cute. It kinda reminds me of people over 50, lol, which I am, go there to think that we are still cool. (I am). But its kinda retro. The bar and lounge area is really cute and friendly. Even though I got there early, they let me check in. The only thing is that the kitchen wasn't operating, so I had to go out for food. The rooms are cute. Very minimalistic. And the location is ideal. Its in the Gaslamp quarter, but its like a block away from all of the action. So its not very noisy when you go in for the night. Its like 2 blocks down from the trolley station, which I took to the Amtrak station to go to L.A. for the day. And it's a few blocks walk to the Hop on Hop off bus. I enjoyed my time there. There's still some things that I didn't get to do, but I will go back
Thanks Chris. I love how San Diego has such a huge military presence. It is so beautiful. SeaWorld is the best theme park. I can't wait for all the rides to come back. Thanks for letting us know about all these little gems.
Love san diego its my birth city. Navy brat here. Was living as a baby on navy base there for a little while. Was born at the naval hospital near San Diego zoo. Parents took met to zoo as baby. Been back more than a couple of times to see the zoo and SeaWorld
So funny, I followed you for years mostly watching your Asia travel guides because I lived and traveled around Asia. No idea that you're in SD, and now I am living in SD.
I absolutely love how well you put this together, Chris! San Diego has tons of activities/neighborhoods to offer and you presented all of them in a very clear manner. As a native of San Diego, I've got to say this is one of your best live streams (including countless others)!!! Video idea: You should do a walking tour of the Irvine Spectrum Center.
Thanks Kristina! I'll consider doing a tour of Irvine Spectrum.... shooting in shopping malls is a challenge though as mall security doesn't usually like it
Great video! Thank you so much for these tips, Chris! I’m a student at UCSD and I’ve always been wanting to explore San Diego more. I totally agree that convoy street has the best Asian food. I as a Chinese think they’re pretty authentic. Some of the best I’ve ever taken are spicy house, jasmine seafood and liuyishou and I definitely recommend them!
Hooray for San Diego! It's a big place with lots of things to do, all year long. Some of the most desirable real estate in the world is located there. Of course, prices have gone through the roof in the last decade. But if you can afford it, more power to you! The USS Midway is a great place to spend the 4th of July, as there are multiple displays around the harbor, all very visible from the Midway. The host of this video gives a great list of things to do, and it's not even a complete list! You could spend a month there, visiting everything! And the food is great everywhere! Sorry, I know I sound like an ad, but I'm not. I just love the city.
Thank you Chris. Also, for those who are into Comic Con...San Diego Comic Con will start up their in person Con this year on Thanksgiving weekend, at the Civic Center. I have been attending CC for over 15 years in many cities. Many CC attendees like to stay at lodgings near the downtown civic area, but people can also stay at hotel/motels in Mission Valley and ride the free charter bus shuttles that take you downtown to the civic center area for the CC weekend. You might want to check to see if the shuttle charter buses are still free. If the CC tickets/passes sell out, you can still enjoy the the gas lamp area with people walking around in their costumes, bars, and restaurants.
Really great informative video Chris. San Diego for years always came near the top of those 'Best Cities to lIve In The USA ' lists but somehow as a tourist from the UK I never made it that far south when in California. Will definitely visit there when we are allowed to travel again. I remember seeing a documentary about Marshall Faulk and when it showed SDSU I thought it must be one of the prettiest campuses of any school in America, maybe BYU with the amazing mountain scenery is more spectacular but I think you were lucky to be an Aztec!
Watched this for last minute planning lol. I live near jamul. Lived in San Diego since I was born but when you live here it’s almost hard to find something to do. Have to get going because I’m spending the afternoon at Kate sessions park. Not sure if you mention it later on but that’s the place to go in winter time for sunsets because where the sun is at. It’s a very unique view of downtown as well.
I just had a mini vacation with my family there this past weekend and fell in love with the city! We spontaneously bought tickets to the Dodgers vs Padres game on Friday and loved Petco Park. Will keep this great video in mind for our next visit 😁
Sorry I missed this live Chris! I love this video and especially your use of Google Earth when talking about locations. Hoping to come to SD next year (hopefully)...Thank you for yet another super informative travel vlog!
Excellent video! I really enjoyed this video, we have always wanted to go to San Diego, and some day hope to. Your video has helped me understand the area well. Loved the way to showed us the different areas using Google Maps. looks like a beautiful place to live and visit. Thanks Chris
I absolutely LOVE SD, it's seriously one of my favorite places. I'm in Arizona so I try to get there as much as possible (every year or so if I can). Any chance you can do a video on the best local restaurants?? Or maybe best oceanfront hotels?
Again we all agree that San Diego is a beautiful city and it would be hard to find a city with better weather than San Diego. There are no hurricanes, very few tornados or floods but the one thing I find very negative about San Diego is the lack of affordable housing! I seriously doubt you can find a 1,500 sq ft house for $320 like you can here in Virginia Beach or Florida and it's no wonder why there is such a problem with homeless people in SD and LA! There is no money I guess in building affordable housing so I don't think it's ever going to change. Sorry to sound so negative but average people like me cannot afford to move to SD unless I had $1 million to spend on a house. Big Facts!
Best places to go downtown SD? We don't drink so bar's aren't needed. We're staying at the, Manchester grand Hyatt. Will be there in 2 weeks. Any info is appreciated. Love your video's.
