I'm two hours away from leaving Orange County and heading over to SD/Little Italy for the weekend - perfect timing! You've heavily influenced our iterniary for Saturday. Thank you!
You made me homesick for my hometown San Diego (born and raised). I've been watching a lot of you and Sam the Cooking Guy. It really helps me through my days here in Texas. Keep up the great work you care doing.
@@Jaycation My local friends say that he can be spotted at Not Not Tacos or Graze several times a week. You can also drop an email to him on info@samthecookingguy.com (I think). Google can probably help. Please keep making me homesick brother. I'll be back to stay one day.
Since you live there, what spots do you recommend? For anything in general! I’m going with my wife and kids! So I do want to visit kid-friendly spots, but my sis-in-law will also be joining us so she’s gonna babysit one of the days, so I need some nightlife suggestions as well? 😂 Thanks a lot in advance!!!!
I moved from SD ten years ago and am hoping to get back. lived in Bankers Hill, just up from my favorite Little Italy.💖 Hope things haven't changed there much. Can't wait to see it again...😊
I used to work at the salt and straw there in little Italy and was fortunate enough to to eat at those restaurants. I miss it there. Mona Lisa has amazing sandwiches my mouth drooled seeing you eating that sandwich.
So in Little Italy there's also a really cool store called Love and Aesthetics. Its on Fir Street. It has a sorta gothic vibe but they sell anything from jewelry to decor. The owner is a really nice guy too. I've been to the store a few times and bought some jewelry there so thought I'd recommend it.
This is the place I'd stayed at when I last visited San Diego. My hotel was literally by that fountain and those tables there. El camino was a cool looking restaurant specially at night ..
From Buffalo, New York, thanks Jay. In Buffalo we have some Really, REALLY fantastic PIZZA, WOW is it Good. I saw your sandwhich which I would call a (Submarine Sandwhich) which I will most certainly try when I visit in several months. Spaghetti, spaghetti. Is what I love. Thank You for doing this video Pal.
Hey Jay! You did a fantastic job on your tour of Little Italy! I spent a lot of time there growing up in SD, and you covered enough to entertain everyone's palate! Keep up the great work. I just subscribed ad well. Take care!
Went for a day getaway today. Walked around, had some brews at Mikkellers brewery, went on the Seal Tour, and ended our night at Mimmo's and a slice at Landini's.
I'm binge watching your videos every day recently. Especially the food you've eaten. I'm San Diegoer either and live very close to you. You made me fascinated with Pillipino food that I would like to buy some dishes from the Seafood city supermarket.
@@Jaycation that's great! Thanks for showing us so many hidden gem spots in SD! National City I think is famous of Filipino cousin, also Mexican food there! I can't wait for your update! Like you!
You forgot to mention Glass door restaurant high rise that’s one of the main reasons I drive to SD from OC that restaurant has good drinks food and a beautiful view
@@AztecHusBone ahh i meant u cant bring your own drinks from a liquor store and drink at that area. I believe u can only get drinks from the restaurants within that piazza. Ill do a better job explaining that next time lol
I too have visited San Diego in the past; and you did an excellent job in putting this video together! However, with all due respect, you missed pronounced a couple of establishments names. "Isola" is not pronounced Eye soh lah, but rather it's pronounced: Eee soh lah with translates to Island in Italian. As far as "Filippi's" Restaurant, the oldest, and busiest Italian Restaurant down there you almost got it right @ 4:04 but nailed it when you actually approached the Restaurant. As far as "Civico 1845", it's not pronounced Seh veee coh, but rather it's pronounced: "Cheee veh coh" 1845. As far as "Bencotto" it's not pronounced: Ben coh toh, but rather, it's pronounced: Ben cohth tho. With translates to well cooked. I'm not trying to put you down; before I did the same exact thing years ago until I was corrected by the locals. And like I said, you did an excellent job! 👍👍
It was probably extremely early in the morning approximately @ 8:00 a.m. through 9:00 a.m. after that it gets extremely busy with food trucks etc. from what I can remember when we stayed at the hotel a couple of years ago across from the fountain.
Wife and I ran into a SDFD truck a few years back in little Italy and asked where would they go for a good sandwich....without hesitation they said Mona Lisa
Top thing to learn about San Diego is that the parking stinks. The city caters to a minority of bike riders and then insists that people are much better off taking the very inconvenient public transportation systems. Special note: It wasn't that long ago that those sidewalks and streets where they want you to dine were part of a massive hepatitis outbreak caused by the homeless population, but don't worry, sit outside in the street and eat your meal in the famous southern Ca. poop corridor.
Whatever you do don’t eat at Sorrento! Not even run by Italians and they only serve cold Tap water and alcohol. What kind of Italian place don’t serve soda and coffee for after dinner. Service sucks ass. Food is salty. So disappointed with that restaurant in lil Italy.
Booked a vacation from Scotland to SD in 2025.....staying in gaslamp, never been before...love this video....looks so cool!!!!!
TOTALLY AWSOME VIDEO JAYCATION. I LOVE EVRYTHING. THANKS FOR SHARING. I LEARNED A LOT.

He's a transplant that's doing great. 👍🏾
Filippi’s pizza is one of the OG spots in little Italy!!!
Sure is! I used to go to Filippi's in Scripps Mesa after baseball games as a kid. An SD Staple!
I love it there in Little Italy. One of my favorite places in all of San Diego. Thanks for sharing it with the world.
Of course! You have great taste in neighborhoods!

How much is the median price of a condo in Little Italy?
I think Danny mentioned it was around 750K if i remember correctly... its definitely on the pricier side!
Its $562k in Little Italy :-) it tends to trend higher if you're looking at Downtown as a whole.
Not a lot of people and traffic. What day did you went to and time ?🤔
