Thanks Tom for the vlog. You saved us over $250.00 in general admission tickets for not going to the show. A bit rich to ask the average family to cough up $50 each person for tickets. Looks like we didn't miss much.
Pleasure. A taste of the show 😁👍
The organiser of the exhibition clearly timed the event on the wrong day. How many chinese ev exhibitors will turn up on Chinese new year. The place looks depressing. I am sure next year will be better
As someone with Chinese ethnicity, I’d have to agree somewhat … perhaps we need to have this later in the year for 2025?
Go in Friday or Sunday
Friday = traditional reunion dinner (think Christmas Eve)
Sunday is Day 2 of CNY which actually runs for 2 weeks …
I definitely agree. Having attended on both Friday & Saturday, I don’t think the place looked as depressing as you think it is. That being said, because it is Lunar/Chinese new year, a number of the Chinese (and other Asian) exhibitors didn’t turn up and others only turned up as visitors rather than exhibitors as they would’ve been unable to have enough staff to exhibit. IMO I think the event should either be early/mid January or March/April as to avoid LNY/CNY. I myself skipped some family events (mainly just to avoid the awkward questions from my aunties and uncles) and used EEA as my excuse. I also had the chance to annoy Tom and some of the other social media guys as well 😂😂😂
That's great@@_Sensei_88!!!
It was great to see you and Electric Viking as guest speakers!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Is it me, or was it much busier last year? I’m glad I didn’t make the trek down this time.
It seemed that way walking around … I wasn’t sure whether it was because it was more spread out this year. Also keep in mind this video was shot in the afternoon
I was there on Friday, a bit underwhelming.
It was a pretty good weekend and a pretty nice introduction to EV's. Been learning a lot before coming to this show but this was the first experience I had test driving some of the cars. Making the trip from Brisbane, it was definitely worth the time. It was also fantastic to meet you Tom, thank you for being a speaker at some of the panels.
Pleasure! Glad you found it helpful 👍
Was at the show yesterday and got a chance to hear you speak. Thanks for sharing. Also saw the Sakura, took me back to the good days when we had our Nissan cube. Very tempted to get a get one to complement our model Y.
Thank you to FCL/EE for giving me an opportunity to be a guest on a few panels on Saturday!
That Sakura is really cool. Wish more cars like that were available.
Yeah it’s like a Tardis
If they had this in Queensland it would be packed ev's are very popular here. Especially Tesla.
👍
Why isn't it shared around the different states occasionally?. Not all of us can get to sydney.
@@Ryanhothersall you have met Sydney right? :D u have answered your own question :D
Great seeing Riz, Nash and Jules at the show. Thanks for having this great platform for discussing EVs and meeting great people. The Tesla owners club members were very nice, full of knowledge and was a joy riding in Jules' model S and Peters model Y. Test drove a model y, the seat adjustments were very good and driving experience was amazing.
Certainly a great meeting point for those in the industry and EV space 🙏
Thanks so much for this. I couldn't get to Sydney this weekend and the walk through was really interesting.
Pleasure!
Thanks, great to see the variety of electric vans available. Plus that two seater trike? Laurie. NZ. 😊
Is Nissan going to sell the Sakura to Australia?
Good Car Co is bringing this in as second hand imports
Remember when Sydney and Melbourne had car and motorcycle shows? God I miss those days.
I really enjoyed them!
I imagine you are quite the celebrity at these events Tom! Testament to the great work you do on your channel!
I’m very appreciative of the support that I receive for my humble little channel 🙏
It’s very touching when people say hi at these events and express their gratitude for my content - it keeps me going! ❤️
Couldn't get there this year, so thanks for the quick run around. Much appreciated. Cheers.
Pleasure 👍 glad you found it helpful
i like how someone turned an old VW Beetle into an EV
The beauty of conversions 🙏
Yes please, a Mustang Mach-e test drive. And please try and make it the Select model, for some reason there's already a bizillion GT reviews about whereas the Select seems to be 'reasonably' priced yet with still very good equipment level, range and an LFP battery.
I’ll do my best to get one
Should of said hi to the western Sydney solar team, could of showed you around our amazing car
You guys are doing a great job!
I was there on Saturday, I am a bit disappointed that Ultipower and Novated Lease Australia weren't there, as I like to ask about the ZJ Beny home AC charger and novated leasing an EV respectively.
Nice number of Tesla's too
Yes good representation from TOCA
Tom, thanks for the vlog. Made the trip up from Melb last year to Darling Harbour last minute just for the Sat. Gotta say Darling Harbour looked a bit more salubrious than this years venue!
Can’t beat the ICC for location but Sydney Olympic Park is probably better for test drives
Hi Tom, informative as usual. Is there any update on the Tesla 2? Sorry, if you have recently covered this topic.
Nothing concrete at this stage …
The foundation of the show should be EVs. People can come to touch and feel the cars in a low pressure environment. Ask questions without feeling stupid, test drive etc.
💯
I was at the show last year but decided not to attend this year as i had an engagement in Brisbane to attend last week as i am from Victoria, i aasume their was much more to see then what was in this short video as i was expecting much more after last years show. I think Brisbane would be a great place to hold it as it seems there is a hi uptake of EVs their....
There were more cars and test drives to check out this time around 👍
Thanks Tom - I'm surprised VW not represented.
Pleasure!
U missed showing the EV motorcycles Zero and scooters plus their test driving area outside behind BMW but it wasn’t well signposted and I found out by looking at the map
I think I showed it briefly at 05:53 …
Was it open to the general public on that day? On most stalls staffers were just talking amongst themselves.
Yes it was open to all. Filmed in the afternoon when it was a bit quieter
Sad to see no Volvo stand there..
Hopefully in 2025
Thanks for sharing Tom, was hoping to spy a Polestar 4 😊
Me too!
They should alternate between Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Speaking to the organisers I think it will remain in Sydney for the foreseeable future
@Ludicrous Feed .. you missed the solar / battery Tiny Solar Homes display....very cool display
Ah yes I did see that off camera 👍
Good to see fully charged. It is however in the wrong city. It makes no sense to hold it in the same city every year. Melbourne is much easier to get around and has excellent exhibition spaces.
The FCL crew have announced via Social Media that it will be back in Sydney in March 2025
@@LudicrousFeed Oh I know that. I have nothing against Sydney (except of course the awful traffic). I simply state the obvious Melbourne needs to have a fully charged expo. Looking at the video of the show it looked …… like it was in the wrong place on the wrong day. They NEED to rethink.
Thanks Couldn't get there so great video Cheers
Pleasure
Going there today but was hoping there be more then EVs.
Few more than last year. Enjoy 👍
Nice colour on the Lotus.
Agreed 😋
Loved listening to one of ur talks Tom 😊
Thanks! It's nice being able to see my audience! 😍
@@LudicrousFeed unfortunately I couldn’t find you
Attended last year but had to give this year a miss because it clashed with Chinese New Year.
Interesting to see Ace-EV, but it feels like they’ve missed the boat now that cheaper Chinese cars are in the market. At one stage they were promising affordable EVs built in Australia, but their designs are now outdated and not all that cheap compared to the MG, Ora and BYD cars.
Maybe they might survive as a custom builder of last mile delivery vehicles but hard to see them gaining any significant market share.
Yes I’m also curious with this particular brand given what will eventually come from China. Happy New Year! 🧧
Honesty was a little disappointed. Not as much home energy as I was expecting.
There was definitely more floor space so everything seemed more spread out
hello. i brought coffee as promised ☕☕🍵🍵
👍
A few petrol cars there too saw a VW in there
They may have been converted
No petrol cars at all. All of the classic VWs had been converted to EV.
Thanks for the tour, Tom. ET5 - going from 51 kWh to 71 kWh only gets 50km extra? That's not right. It probably means the 51 kWh is really maybe 290km.
These are only very preliminary specs of course 👍
The battery replacement cost and support on the ionic 5 has really ruined the Korean car brand
Hopefully it was only a one-off bad news story 😔
Nice
🙏
I wonder if they ever had plans of a similar show in Brisbane?
Having spoken to the organisers, my understanding is that they will remain in Sydney for the foreseeable future
Cheers Tom
Thanks for the info
I appreciate you doing the walk through video so we can see what’s on display.
What's the turnout ?
Hard to say at this stage
We’ll see what numbers the organisers publish
No Volkswagens - strange - I like the VWid4 but not represented - strange.
(SUN 11 FEB 2024, 04.50 a.m. NZ Time)
Agreed it’s like they don’t want us to buy their EVs 🤷♂️
No BYD, kinda weird considering they had a stand and dj at Qudos bank Arena on Friday night
MyCar work very closely with BYD and were showcasing their cars
The Ampol stand had a VW ID4 - seen here at 2:33
I expected that much bigger, decoration is boring to non existing.
Let’s bear in mind that this is only the second year so let’s see what they come up with in 2025!
Small crowd. Disappointing.
Yes I wasn’t sure whether it was because it was more spread out or whether it was actually smaller than last year …
Is it just me or does this event look underwhelming and disappointing compared to last years event? Even Tom looks underwhelmed in the thumbnail.
Apologies, it’d been a long day! A lot more cars to look at and test drive compared to last year though
@@LudicrousFeed No need to apologise, I appreciate all the work you're doing in the EV industry. Keep up the good work, Tom.
Is that it ?…😂
The camera don’t lie
sure buy a chinese EV fitted with a CATL BATTERY gOOD LUCK
BYD seems to see themselves as an established brand like Tesla which now doesn't need this kind of shows to gain attention..
Great to have more choice in the market now 👍
BYD is officially working with Mycar to display their cars and test drives at the show.
NOTHING BUT COMPLETE B S WHERE IS THE ELECTRICITY COMING FROM. ... thin air ????
