I've gotten SO MUCH use from my kid's laminator, purchased for some project when he was in elementary school. He's now a high school teacher (and my dive buddy) and I'm still using it for a variety of projects.
With the latest GoPro 11 + Labs you can fine tune shutter speeds as well as gamma curve and color gamut. With the rather extreme lighting conditions you encounter on these dives I think you should benefit from those features quite nicely. You will have much more elbow room for editing in post as well.
As a army veteran myself the infantryman inside me, laughed a little bit when he said CLS instructor combat lifesaver if you know, you know, I wouldn’t brag about it no hate but as one veteran to another, we’ve earned the right to talk shit to each other. needless to say still a bad ass dude
lol, I would agree based on some of the CLS courses I've seen. Our course was wild, recognized as the best in the army at one point (by the army times, lol). Arty and 50 sims during the lanes, low crawl through mud under "barbed wire", actual egress with casualties in skedcos down a muddy hill, and we still taught IVs back then. It's fun to watch students struggle to maintain a sterile field when they're covered head to toe in mud. Shit was tight. With my team we certified an entire brigade twice during my 3 years with the 25th. So im pretty proud of it, I wish more people took it as seriously as we did.
Look into Backscatter. They have some GoPro bundles with filters, lights, and they have some nice housings too. Divers Ready did a review of the Hero 11 using that equipment.
Wondering. Is there a way to shoot underwater in a lake 24/7? Have a live feed to a blog site. My brother has a home on a lake and I thought it would be great to have a live feed under the dock for example. Perhaps a wide angle shot. Would a go pro be able to do this? How about lights? I also have a Eyoyo Camera. I have only shot things at a down angle though. I need something that can do a live feed 24 hours a day. The infrared lights on the Eyoyo looks great at night.
I can honestly say I’m not much of a camera guy, but this is pretty awesome. Pretty funny comment about lamination machine, nope, no teacher’s card necessary.
I haven' t gotten around to updating the codes yet. So far the two shallowest settings (or at least what I predicted they would be) have been enough for depths all the way down to 200 feet. I'm working on a potential budget setup for taking a gopro to 100m and if that works out I'll probably revisit the qr codes and make a video about it. Thanks for the comment fam.

Yeah I use a range for my caving. It’s a totally different beast than reef in terms of black noise

Great video. Are you saying you have min and max ISO set to 100? If not, what were your max settings?
Yes, when I said the iso is 100, both min and max are set to 100. Thanks!
This is brilliant. I’m going to test this out in our dark cold Monterey and Carmel water
Subscribed just because I'm also a Combat Medic Veteran, don't let me down 🙂
Hell yeah bro!
Why do you need QR codes? You can set up presets for different depths. And select them underwater by pressing mode and shoot Button together.
Hmmmm, interesting.
Good to hear about the QR code, do an update if you find some good settings for deep dives, its a struggle for everyone !
Very cool, thanks for the video! I’m thinking of buying my first GO Pro for my diving videos!
You can build profiles and cycle them with the two button method, even in the waterproof housing
Yeah, someone mentioned that.

Did you figure out WB QR codes? Seems like a great idea too

QR codes, holy crap who would’ve known
Do you use dive Filters?
If not, get them
thank you !!!!
What's your uw lights?
BigBlue 4200, they're pretty good. No complaints.
Anyone else run into na issue where the QR Code firmware shuts off the camera in under 10 seconds when you push the mode button?
Are you using a red filter in these videos?
Nope! Just the qr codes.
Happy to sell you a paralenz vaquita with all the bells and whistles for pet cheap if you want.
Paralenz filed for bankruptcy.
Well then... lol
A bit late but Paralense are no more..
The Paralenz dive camera company died. RIP, who's going to respond next to this market for underwater diver specific action cam?!!!
lol, someone left a comment telling me about that like a week after I released this video. Oops... Gotta check on that stuff before posting.
