    Is there a filter for snorkeling that you can use without an underwater case? Every pink or red filter I have seen only fits in an underwater case. We will be snorkeling and likely not deeper than 12 ft but want to try a filter to balance out the grays in so many videos. But won’t be using an underwater housing/case.

    Your videos are great and I bought the book as well. Do you have suggestions for the other settings to modify for the 5k 4.3/30 FPS? I’m a beginner so not looking to do too much editing after.

    Please could you confirm if you shot most of these clips without the protective housing?
    I tried shooting underwater for the first time today, but my GoPro immediately stopped working. Fortunately, it's still under warranty, so I'm getting a replacement. However, I'm now hesitant to try again with the new one after this experience.

    I normally use a camera, but thinking of getting into using my GoPro. Something not mentioned here is what you are pressing to start video or take a photo? Are there UW poles or handles that have buttons, or do you have to use the button on the camera?

    Hey Jordan,
    I'm going to deepdive Dubai tomorrow. It's the deepest pool in the world and they allow normal people to go about 40 feet deep. I could'n find any video to discuss the settings for that situation. I hope you can help me out

    • @ThePupil
      @ThePupil Год назад +1

      Not sure how it went. But 40 feet is a shallow dept voor scuba diving. However since there much less natural sunlight indoors I guess it is a bit darker at 40ft in that pool than 40ft in the ocean (although the pool is crystal clear). Tomorrow I'll go freediving in a Pool in germany it is 65ft deep. And although they have some lighting there, it tends to be a bit darker.. Just remember the darker the envirement the less amount of fps you want. So it is always a bit of a hit and miss with deeper or darker dives. Darker dives i'd go for max 60 fps since the camera can capture a bit more light than with a high 120fps. For shallow diving or snorkeling 120 fps shouldn't be perfect

    friend, your videos are incredible, you convinced me and I bought the gopro11. one of the reasons is because it can be entered in the water without a housing. which I love. But I wanted to ask you, do you use it without a casing? greetings

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  Год назад

      Thank you so much! As long as you are not going deeper than 33', you don't need to use the Protective Housing. I almost always just use it without the case. The one thing you need to remember is to make sure the side door is closed completely with no red showing. If water gets in there, it will break the camera.

    What about white balance and exposure and flat color or gopro color?

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  Год назад

      Hi Echomania,
      I usually use auto white balance, but if you are purely underwater, you could go with Native for more consistent WB throughout the shots. GoPro color (or Natural in the newer cameras) works well unless you want to do your own color grading.

      Hi Harold,
      You aren't able to take a photo while recording, but you can pull still frames from the video that look really good, specifically if you are recording in 5.3k or 4K. Hope that helps!

    Thank you much for this video! As i have mention before, my first gopro is arriving today and leaving for the Bahamas Oct. 1St for a wk. Need to practice a lot and get use to it. One really newbie question i have is, you mention grabbing photos out of your video footage. Do you use editing software for grab photos ? or does the App do this? Also, if i have a turtle swim next to me, can i use the app to slow it down? or do i need to record in slow motion? I'm not a complete newbie, but time is closing in on me and i want to try and use the gear at its full potential. Any help from you or your followers would be much appreciated. Thank you again for your video and your book

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  2 года назад +1

      Hi,
      Thanks for writing and you are very welcome! You can grab photos from your videos using the Quik App on your phone. There is a little photo icon and when you use this, the app will grab a full resolution photo from your videos.
      If you want to play back your video in slow motion, you need to record the videos using a slow motion frame rate of 60 frames per second (fps) or higher. As long as you recorded at a slow motion frame rate, you can edit it using the app or a desktop editing app to play back in regular speed or in slow motion.
      I hope that answers your questions. Enjoy the Bahamas! I'm sure it will be beautiful!

    Do you think that if i buy underwater filters i wont need to color grade end edit videos?...great video:)

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  Год назад

      Hi Tai,
      You could choose a manual white balance setting and use an underwater filter. If you get your settings dialed in, you might be able to avoid color grading, but typically the GoPro's internal processor does a good job even without a filter.

    Hi Jordan. Thx for sharing your expertise. Your tips will help most of us for sure. Having a Gopro11 and an Insta360 X3..I was wondering if you did ever use your X3 for Underwater pics and vids. I am aware those 360 cam's were not know for their waterproof perf..Personaly I did purchase a dive house for my X3 even normally that one is announced waterproof until 10 meters. So as some video suggestion/idea for you, some tips to relate what we can do or not and optimize for an insta360 x3 cam. Actually underwater world and 360 cam's topic is rarely done so.. 😉 Thx

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  Год назад

      Hi Philippe,
      Thank you for your suggestion! Yes, I love to use the X3 also underwater in the Dive Case. The X3 is waterproof without the Dive Case, but the videos are not clear and the stitching is not correct. This is due to the curved lenses and the distortion underwater. I am working an another video for the X3 so I'll try to include some underwater tips in there for you.

    So puting 5.3k with 30fps, will have better frames quality for pictures than 60fps ?

    • @JordanHetrick
      @JordanHetrick  Год назад

      Hi, sorry I just saw this. Yes, the 30 FPS 5.3k footage typically produces better still frames underwater thank 5.3k-60 since there is not much light as you go deeper.
