Note: Hayao Miyazaki isn't actually directing Darling in the Franxx #24! That was a joke that I mostly just found funny myself and I didn't think anyone would believe it!
The Canipa Effect I totally bought it lol come on man!
The Canipa Effect You'll live to regret this...
The way you set up the joke wasn’t sarcastic enough. You went on stating factual information for the entire video with no indications of comedic quips. The audience is focused on digesting and interpreting the large amount information being thrown at them, so throwing in a joke out of nowhere will confuse them. And your tone of voice sounded very matter of fact, and I interpreted as that. Try to sound more sarcastic when trying to tell a joke, so the audience is subconsciously clued in.
Maybe try stating the obvious. It may sound like bad writing, but someone is always not get the joke. And this time around a larger percentage of people didn’t get the joke.
Still love your videos and the work you do, but I must admit I don’t really expect any comedic moments in your videos.
Apologize, you fraud.
I've noticed you don't really have a sarcastic tone. At least don't know you personally enough to tell the difference.
Almost fell for the Miyazaki is directing the finale of FranXX troll
Well it was gonna die anyway
Matt Lucas how?
+Emilio Reyes the anime might go in a bad direction
Dude, your content is worth it. I never feel like I am wasting time watching your videos. Keep it up!
Thanks! Now I understand what a "producer" actually does.
I wish someone covered on the producers in *games industry* and the business side of that. Given how anime business operates, I believe something similar happens in Japanese games industry as well.
Hemang Chauhan ruclips.net/video/WUkcz2taCiw/видео.html
This should help out a bit
Extra credit is the channel you're lookin'for
According to Extra Credits the exact role of a producer in a western game studio changes depending on the studio but they were able to give a tentative answer. A game studio producer has their hand in a little bit of all the departments from animation to coding to game design and everything else. But they aren't able to have as much involvement in any one department because of this. Their job is basically to tie together everyone else's work. Some producers also manage the overall budget of a game/project and have to make hard choices of what features to cut if the budget or time runs out.
I just read the other comments in this thread. Looks like my answer was not needed lol.
Still, it clarified a few things.
Thanks!
Hey Canipa might I suggest making a video about anime opening and ending songs and how both the music and anime industry supports each other? I for one is interested in knowing how they come upon an agreement, and which side usually benefits more during the promotion. It's even more riveting when the choice of music fits well with the show as if they were taylor made for them. Though of course, sometimes that's the case, hence my fascination on their relationships. Just a suggestion that I think fits with your choice of content! Keep up the great work man.
That is something I've been interested in!
Hellz yeah I knew that's right up your alley.
@@TheCanipaEffect do it!!I would like to see those videos
Don't play with my heart saying that hayao miyazaki will direct franxx last episode, bro
I'm writing a research paper on animation studios in Japan and what makes them successful and I am SO THANKFUL you put all the resources you used in the descriptions because you saved me so much time. Just wanted to thank you
6:30 I love the picture with Ichigo's crying face from episode 6. I always get a chuckle from that.
(I don't hate Ichigo)
I'm not an Ichifag but I don't get the appeal of laughing at her constant pain.
Dewayne C
"Ichifag"? What is that? Don't tell me that's how 02 fanboys calls Ichigo lol
No. 02 fans call her Bitchigo.
well she sexuall assasulted and abused Hiro so...
Mathew Ricafrente
Laugh because of someone's pain=I dont hate that person.
At Least don't be a pussy and admit something.
Great video, always super informative. Now you’ve gotten me excited for that Shirobako announcement!!
I appreciate the number of Shirobako clips in this. Thanks for going behind the scenes on this and cleaning up the role of producer a little bit!
I really hope you make a studio spotlight for Studio 4° one day =)
On another note great video. Really appreciate getting a larger view of how it all works and finding new people you look up to ^^
A new announcement about shirobako, in a week? Did I hear correctly or am I dreaming?
This Saturday in fact! As you can probably assume, I'm really hoping for a season 2. I'll be at the event myself.
The Canipa Effect that would be amazing.
The Canipa Effect
Relay the announcement as it becomes available. Please... :)
Its a movie! 🎊
I almost forgot about the announcement, thanks for the headsup!
This just reminded me how nice Flip Flappers looked, might go rewatch it.
Ethan D if you rewatch it you may notice some new stuff.
Great video, it shows that it is well researched. It was very entertaining, and you mentioned some of my favorite studios (PA Works, Gainax, Triger, White Fox, 3Hz), which are all awesome. You got your self a +1 sub. Tank you, and good luck.
Interesting look here at producers. I didn't realize they had such an important role.
Also, I would love to watch that episode of Franxx directed by Miyazaki... That is exactly the ending I'd love right now.
Pikachugecko I got bad news for you
Well i been trying to make an original anime myself but i have started a book for it in a sense and now i am drawing i t over as a comic to then turn it into a manga. It's long but i am learning a lot of things i never know and this gives me more hope and understanding. How, Why and what to look for.
This video was very insightful, Thanks
It was a great effort indeed
From past to present and even shows like Shirobako and Re:creators were mentioned
Really excited for 3hz studio Black Box
And will hope Franxx will have a better writing and original ideas in the coming episodes ...
If anything I always go to your videos now Canipa effect .Ready for the Batman ninja
I always forget that Code Geass is anime original.
I feel particularly more invested in anime originals overall than I do adaptations, mostly because I feel like originals have a much higher risk:reward involved, but they're also much more passion projects.
I need to watch Celestial Method
Wow! I loved Shirobako, and if the producer is the same as in Sirius and Black Fox, I'm going to have to check those out as well! Thanks Canipa!
TURN YOUR AUDIO INTO A PODCAST AND PUT IT ON APPLE PODCASTS!!! I would tune in everyday!!
Dude, you have some aweosme production values, and great technical content! like and sub with bell icon for you :) keep up the great work
One of your best episodes!
We love you!
The most recent original yet high quality anime show would be Megalo Box! Yes, it's a spiritual successor of ashi ta no Joe, but it's not an adaptation of any manga/LN and so far it is absolutely kickass, completely blew every other anime this season out of the water.
Eh, Hisone to Masotan is more impressive and I like it way more.
+Bill Erak Dragón Dorado we all know megalo box will get more attention
Bill Erak Dragón Dorado Eh, it looks cutesy and quite good, but nowhere near the level of Megalo Box technical wise.
+Ryan Tran histone no maston has a vibe of slice of life to be honest.i see this anime being underrated
It's a spin-off / AU. Just like Gatchaman Crowds being an original story but with a big name on it.
But Canipa, according to Reddit all adaptations are just made for selling the source material or toys and all original anime is "selling out by pandering to the niche otaku market." (And this is clearly not a contradiction) You know like Kyosougiga, Flip Flappers, and Concrete Revolutio.
Theres your problem, believing in Reddit. Reddit has this thing where anyone can say anything even when its wrong and talking back about that opinion is grounds for you to get punishment. I would trust /a/ more since most good ideas and information is supported and most bad opinions and info is mercilessly called out on.
More like, "according to all anime fans who think they have an idea of what they're talking about".
+CaseNumber00 Isn't that the internet for the most part?
CaseNumber00 it's a joke. Also /a/ isn't immune to circlejerking either
i hope your channel blows up
"except for ichigo" you monster
Hey,she did nothing wrong
Here we go again
Sorry,I wasn't aware that we were in an alternative reality where wanting to end toxic relationships was a bad thing
+miguel lopez Ever since episode 15 Came people have been bashing the show .
don't you mean episode 14? most people seem to love episode 15,I am in the small minority that found it disappointed, this reddit sums up why pretty well:www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/8dwn2r/spoilers_darling_in_the_franxx_episode_15/dxql589/
Wooo buddy great vid ln my favorite things, Original Anime. I always thought it was producers that help facilitate this stuff, but now I got your research. Time for me to try to become a producer.
I love original anime mostly cause I'm always on source material so to save some time I dont watch alot of adaptations when I already read the novel or manga, mostly novels. I love Novels.
I see some footage from Mawaru Penguindrum! Would you ever consider making a video about Kunihiko Ikuhara? I feel like the anime community doesn't talk enough about him and your breakdowns would be a good match.
PENGUINDRUM IS LIFE!
sorry...
Great video bud
Holy shit, this is a great video
Man, I wish that Miyazaki joke is real. That would be awesome lol
Great video as always, but I need to ask what about the second part of Trigger Studio spotlight. Will it ever reach us?
I'm sorry Canipa, but you said that Actas and 3hz made Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars, but I think you were wrong [8:41]. Studio Actas and 3hz did not make this series together, but Princess Main, last year. Regalia is from 2016 and aired in July. That same year, 3hz released their best-known anime, Flip Flappers, in October.
Correct RUclips captions if you can, and if you want.
Ah, shit. Yeah, I made the mistake in the script, fixed it during recording, but the script I used for the recording had changed. I'll fix the subtitle line now.
No problem. Good job, by the way!
Trigger, you the real MVP
very nice about explaining how to to make original anime
I love how to breed the producer make original idea to make it anime
it show how many producer make good anime in japan
l love anime & japan
This was a great video! I knew it was really difficult to get an original anime greenlit these days, but I had no idea all of the factors that can help it reach fruition. Any comment on studios like Satelight which also produce a fair number of original anime? I know something like Symphogear's success is tied into how one of the original creators is a founder at Elements Garden, and they provide all of the music (which sells very well), but there are other shows they get greenlit that typically seem to be mecha from a famous original creator of mecha. Given the content of this video I can't help but feel like there's other factors that go into this beyond "famous original designer."
If only more producers learn from Nagatani-san.
you really trolled with the miyazaki thing
So basically, if you want an anime made, become a producer. Have there been any staff in the industry to produce, direct, and make their own anime? Basically, an anime industry auteur.
JuJu Makoto shinkai
Is that true for Your Name and his other films though?
JuJu yep
.. and when you have a crappy producer the process goes a bit like this:"We have a LN similar to Sword Ar...." "All right it is funded!"
zomfgroflmao1337 No more like "This Anime will have VR with video game "elements"............"
"Fund the hell outta that shit....!"
"one of the main characters has a huge bo..." *FUNDED*
Do we have a link for that Hayao Miyazaki interview?
That plastic memories soundtrack over here killing me
Woah
are you still working on the part3-5 of the anime music composers series
Still have megalo box as the number 1 spring anime
You lucky bastard, where did you find the Rock Man from Concrete? been looking for it since forever!
Get on the 12 part Studio Sunrise video. Or at least one Hajime Yatate.
Best three goal in life.
Being Japanese made the Miyazaki bit fucking hillarious
GO, SHIROBAKO SEASON 2!!!
How do you find this kind of information? I'm sure you're drawing from a lot of experiences, but this is the first time I've heard any about this and would like to learn more.
It's all in the description, but a few of them are in Japanese. I work with a translator for all of these.
Wow I'm dumb, thanks.
Aw man, you almost made me regret dropping Darling in the Franxx
how do you think an artist/producer can submit music they want to be featured on an anime ?? or do a complete soundtrack? I'm curious
Usually you need to sign up with an agency who will represent you in talking to anime companies.
I got trolled so fucking hard by that meme
Anyone know what a series compositor does?
MODISIMO Do you mean series composer? If so, they are responsible for working with the director to write and structure an anime’s overall story.
David Barth ohhh ok thank you! So is it basically the same thing as a writer, or are they different?
They're the lead screenwriter in a way. The director often has more influence over the story itself, but the series composition manages turning that into a screenplay and works directly with individual episode scriptwriters.
The Canipa Effect Thank you!
a busy boyo
Could you talk about Utena?
Just saw infinity war.
What a great anime. Oh, I mean...
Original anime
I was waiting for Sora Yori to get a mention. :(
Ok, I can't tell. Is Canipa joking when he said Miyazaki is directing the last Frankxx episode? Miyazaki is obviously joking about killing everyone but Ichigo, but I can't tell if this is entirely a joke.
Taking into account that what Miyazaki said did not match the subs... at all, yeah...
Thanks for clarifying! Not great at translating spoken Japanese, sadly.
I love Mawaru Penguindrum.
Lmao Miyazaki is the biggest troll ever I love it
Why haven't you done Naotoshi Shida yet???
Gainax is pretty doing piano no mairo of course
Canipon we need new anipod please!
The Celestial Method was a mistake .-.
literally my own mother hahahahahahahahaha
can u pls do a reveiw or analyze the movie 'in this corner of the world' its a kickstarter movie
a lot of anime directors, animtors etc.
and movie critics at japan says its the best movie at 2016
yamakan said to hes blog that this movie is one of the best animated movie of all time
and a lot of creators stated the same thing like kisimoto(naruto)
i know its not popular at west and no anime youtuber mention this movie
i love your content! and other anime youtube content it is very interesting to watch theres no youtube community like this at japan
sorry for my bad English xd
at the start this movie just aired only 63 movie theater and got top 10 at the box office compared to your name 300 theater.
I almost unsuscribed because of the Hayao Miyazaki joke, dude.
You got me by surprise and I believe it for a moment
Like it's not even acknowledged in the description that it's a joke, nor made to sound like a joke. I just got super excited about it and told a bunch of people, but once I searched for the source I couldn't find anything. His videos are so in depth and high quality that I didn't even question it.
Yeah, same happened to me, until I was seeing the sources and none is citing the Hayao Miyazaki. But it was good, even better than most of the April 1st jokes
If I heard it from any other source than here I'll say it was a joke.
I'm really pissed. I almost started watching the series because of it.
This channel takes it self seriously. If it was PewDiePie I'll know it's a joke.
#MiyazakiProteccsIchigo
Ichigo is my waifu. Please don't hang us.
pop team epic is 2018 anime not 2017 :P
Leeron is So XXX
Callum better think that 02 is best girl.
Check that thumbnail, mate
How dare you for being so wrong
Can darling in the franxx have season 3 it's awesome it's boring when have few episodes
Kuromukuro was also a mistake
Well angel beats ended now
Well darling in the Franxx is ending in 11 or 10 episodes
this kinda is a producers job though...
Your pronunciation of Osaka physically hurts me.
I honestly wouldn't say that darling in the franx is original. is the typical mecha anime + a little bit ecchi and puberty + a good an colorful animation.
"Original" as in, not based on a manga, light novel, video game or other.
The Canipa Effect I thought it was based on a manga
+Victor Rodriguez Nope...the manga is based on the anime.
10:46 Sounds like a good idea to ask them to rate my anime idea! Because I've had this great idea for the longest time:
A boy falls in love with a girl.
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl’s phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day’s confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn’t exist in this universe at all. She is the girl’s alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC’s own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
😑
niggaw waht
Uhhh, mediocre original anime, so gooooood
Good video but the way you pronounce the word "project" is American. But you're British.... What's going on?
Caniper is American. Or maybe that was RC Anime. Same guy.
Bruno de Mattos
The guy talking in this video obviously has a British accent. But he pronounces that one word like an American so it really sticks out.
Haha, so basically: I'm English, so I have an English accent. However, I moved to Australia when I was a kid and my friends at school teased me about my pronunciation of some words so much that I now pronounce a number of words the American/Australian way.
Whoa canipa still makes videos that aren't desperate shilling for CG trash?
The Golden Kamuy CG Bear probably made him realize it was fruitless :P
Bill Erak Dragón Dorado There's plenty of cg trash in the west since it pretty much killed 2d animation over here, why do you want it to kill anime too? Just watch modern disney and dreamworks for your eye cancer fix.
Click3tyClick Disney decided to kill its 2d animation studio becuz their 2d movies were just underperforming because of ppl had a negative stigma about 2d.
And that stigma was there thanks to many cheap 2d movies being made around that time.
+javelinmaster2 this comment section is pretty much negative
Matt Lucas and Click3tyClick's comment is pretty stupid if you ask me.
darling in franxx show is so mediocre its such a shame that such talented staff .... working so hard for this game with such a mediocre narrative.
Most people like myself always has expectations for this show
