There's been many Japanese animators outside Japan for quite a decade now, I remember when I was still in highschool when I got recruited into one, 'cause I was referred by my school. And that was 12 years ago, they were covering some episodes of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden
Same! I was worried that I couldn’t become an animator like I wanted to be so I was doubtful that I would fulfill my dreams, but now I know that I can be one even though I’m black.

@@JudgementSkull actually it doesn’t, in japan all cartoons are called anime. It’s a foreign concept that when using the term anime it means it’s Japanese made. Manga and anime studios outsource work to non-Japanese ppl all the time.

What is required of an animation production company is the quality of the work, not the color of the skin. If we make such a big deal about skin color when setting up a company, I don't want people to blame it on skin color if they can't run the company well. It's not like there's a difference in ability based on skin color, we're all the same. All races can do the same thing. As long as the quality is high, it's nothing to fuss about. I'm surprised that people are making such a big deal about it, as if a panda drew a picture. Isn't that discrimination? I am someone who'd like to see a Harem Manga with a Black Protagonist with a diverse set of heroines including a Japanese girl as the main heroine, so I hope this studio could perform a joint co-production effort with Japanese artists to make it as soon as possible.

The police have nothing to do with why he can't own an animation studio in the U.S. The reason he didn't open it in the U.S. is purely economics. An average animator in the states will cost you about $60,000/year(have mandatory overtime rates, required raises, etc.) versus $10,000/year in Japan(Usually 6 days a week with 12 hour days are normal). He's business smart. Better to start a company outright than to work with the logistical nightmare of outsourcing as a small business.

Lol that is a very unrealistic estimate, even at minimum wage an animator in Japan would make more than double that figure
