  • I finally got the opportunity to get the first oil change completed on the R6. I was only about 500km over the first interval of 1000km (600miles) which is still okay but always good to try and stick closer to the intervals shown in your owners manual. In this video I not only do the oil change with the filter but I also do some basic checks for the bike to make sure things are still in good condition.
    1. Oil Change
    2. Oil Filter change
    3. Chain Cleaned
    4. Chain Lubed
    5. Headlight Check
    6. High beam check
    7. Turn Signal Checks
    8. Turn key system check (off screen)
    9. Coolant reservoir level check (off screen)
    10. Check all the hardware
    11. Make sure all hardware are tight and not loose (off screen)
    12. Clutch lever check (off screen)
    13. Brake checks
    14. Brake light checks
    15. Lube pivot points (off screen)
    16. Horn Check (off screen)
    17. Tire Pressures (off screen)
    18. Clean the bike if needed!
    Now I am good until the next oil change interval! Let's go riding!
    Next oil change I will do a very thorough check of the bike to make sure everything is in good condition.
    Leave a comment down below if there is anything you want to see with the R6 or if you have an idea for a video for the near future!

      I bought this off of Yamaha's website here in Canada for $69.95 (CAD). Now these kits are offered by different countries and varies in contents or if the country even offers them.
      Yamaha Motor Canada Website - www.yamaha-motor.ca/en/yamalube/motorcycles/oils-lubricants/yamaluber-10w-40-4t-performance-synthetic-oil-change-kit---mc-3-l/MCY-OILCH-KT-21?sourceCategoryCode=702
      I know US also sells one, but I am not sure about any other countries at this time.

    Thank you so much for guidance but is it possible to unscrew the oil filter with hands or any other means?
    Its Because I don't have a oil filter wrench..

    • @CHRGITUP
      @CHRGITUP  2 года назад +1

      Oh yeah for sure, there are other ways. You can use a screwdriver to tap the bottom of the oil filter in the direction it needs to be removed. You can again use a screwdriver to make a hole in the filter base and then turn it. You can also possibly use a belt to hold it and turn. Type in "how to remove an oil filter without a wrench" on google. You'll also get much more info on there and possibly videos as well.

    no one is mentioning the size of the oil filter tool... I've watched like five of these video's.... I'm loosing my mind right now!

    • @CHRGITUP
      @CHRGITUP  3 года назад +2

      It's a generic 65mm oil filter wrench used on a huge range of Japanese bikes + other manufacturers.

    My level is same as yours on the dip stick. I still get a oil light when the bike is cold… but after 10min of riding, the oil light goes off.
    Can I add more oil ?

      Did you just recently do an oil change?
      When you checked the oil level was the bike on the kickstand or upright?
      Have you seen and oil spots under the bike at all or any smoke while the bike is running?
      Are there any codes being displayed on the instrument cluster?
      You mention that once you ride the bike for 10min and it gets to "operating temperature I'm assuming" the oil light goes away, does it then come back on immediately once the bike is cool again?

    • @geniusliving8606
      @geniusliving8606 2 года назад

      Did an oil change 1500 miles ago. Not due for another 2500 miles.
      Standing the bike upright while engine still was cold, the oil stick said it was low!
      I would ride for 10min then the light would go completely off.
      But if I had the engine get cold again, the light would come back ON.
      Yesterday I added a little oil and it seemed to fix the issue. No more light. Checked the oil stick, oil is at half point when the bike is cold.

    • @CHRGITUP
      @CHRGITUP  2 года назад

      Okay so when you check your oil the bike should not be cold. You should run the bike for about 2-3 minutes which will allow the oil to get thrown everywhere in the crankcase along with the filter. After it get's warm then you check the oil with the dip stick for the R6 other wise you could get a false reading. Just keep that in mind for the future. Check out your owners manual it will basically say what I just did. In the video if you remember I also run the bike for a couple of mins before checking the dip stick and then adding more if more is needed.
