- Filipino food is one of our absolute favourite cuisines in the world! It's an incredibly diverse cuisine with influences from all corners of the globe. Today we're hitting up 3 incredible FIlipino restaurants in Auckland. From traditional Filipino dishes and desserts to creative and modern takes on well-known classics, we're sure there's a Filipino food for you to satisfy your cravings!

Being Filipino ourselves, we surely can't do our due dilligence promoting our home cuisine with just three places. It's so hard to narrow down places into 3 "bests" so we just chose the places we featured today simply due to the variety. So keep an eye out in the future for more Filipino food adventures around Auckland. There are so many more "best places" we want to share with you all!

We got their Kwek-kwek, Bangus Sisig, Pinakbet, and Crispy Pata Kare-kare and they were all amazing! They didn't have it the day we went but you NEED to order their Laing and Pinapaitan too.

Even though Gold Ribbon has its fair share of incredible traditional Filipino dishes, they're really more know for their desserts. You have to try their signature Halo-halo and Ube cake when you come here. Not only are they great but they're such classics too!

Modern Filipino food that might scare the most traditional of homecooks. Nanam embraces its New Zealand influences with open arms and incorporates the best NZ produce to make creative and innovative dishes that stay true to its Filipino roots. Their signature Roast Chicken Sinigang and Taco Pao are must-try's here.

I have to disagree about halo-halo coming from kakigori. My dad was a world war II guerilla.
His dad my grandfather said that halo-halo pre existed the first wave of Japanese spies sent here in 1915 by Japan.
People preserved a lot of surplus foods through immersing them in brown sugar syrup earlier than 1800's.
The Spanish elite also brought ice stored in special rooms. They loved making sherbets. Probably a Filipino cook experimented with ice sherbets and the abundance of sugar syrup preserved stuff.
Wonder where they stored the sinigang broth? Good thing your tita did not ask the waiter for some sinigang broth!
