About The Alienist:
The Alienist is an upcoming American drama television series based on the novel of same name by Caleb Carr. The psychological thriller drama is set in 1896, when a series of gruesome murders of boy prostitutes has gripped the city. Newly appointed top cop Teddy Roosevelt calls upon Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, a criminal psychologist -- aka alienist -- and newspaper illustrator John Moore to conduct the investigation in secret. Joining them in the probe is Sara Howard, a headstrong secretary at Police Headquarters.

I love this show, don't get me wrong. But it is lovely to see some levity, genuine joking and teasing between characters. Last week we got John taking Mary to the show and making her smile (and he did some wonderful smiling himself), then we'll be treated to these two smiling. You spoil us, TNT!

Oh, man! I am hearing hints of Gaston in there: "Because you find me handsome", and he's still going on about future children. Well, at least he admits that he's lazy at times instead of bragging himself up to be the 'most diligent man around'. That's an improvement. Well, to be honest, practically any proposal is an improvement where Gaston is concerned!
If you didn’t picture him sitting down and putting his dirty ass feet on a table during this scene, you’re lying.
Uh, John? You said you were giving the boy honest work? Uhh....I think you forgot one tiny major detail...pay him for his work?
I have rewatched the scene and I think John did hurriedly dropped some coins for the boy before chasing after Sara. You hear the faint tinkling of coins and the boy picking them up.
Yeah, after watching it again I did realize I'd jumped to conclusions! Shows you how observant you have to be.
His Way Services Blog - He did not leave, he followed Sara to her ride. He probably paid after she drove away because the boy followed him.

John is such a romantic. Love it.
Such a cute scene it makes me smile every time I see it. I really hope these two characters end up together since they balance out one another so well. He needs her strength and no nonsense attitude and she needs his more devil may care attitude (her giggling like a school girl response exactly what I am talking about). I was watching a post where they were talking about the love triangle on the show between the three main characters and I honestly don't think that will last since you can tell the doctor should be with Mary and John and Sarah are meant to be together. I think in the beginning Sarah "thinks" about the doctor as all us women tend to when we meet a new man (we think what it might mean being with him), but the right choice for her is John. I am loving the show and only wish we didn't have to wait a whole week to see the next episode...this is why I prefer to wait until a show is almost done before I start watching, but I can't with this show I am too intrigued (and I do believe I am in love with Luke Evans lol).

Episode 1.5 the marriage proposal, episode 2.5 they end up making love. Episode 5 seems to the Lucky John and Sara Episodes for each season.
He was being honest. But, if you watch the episode and the scene that came before this one, she needed a good laugh! But, that also makes it easy to see why she thought he was only joking.

I just noticed that when he jogs towards the carriage, he grasps it w/his L hand. In the next shot, where we are looking at him from the front, he is holding it w/his R hand. Then in the last shot, when we are ‘behind’ him and looking @Sarah again, he’s back to holding the carriage w/his L hand. Just a bit of continuity error. 🙂

Based on this clip alone you wouldn't think he got raped two episodes ago, I hope that comes into play later and wasn't put in for shock value alone. I doubt any person would pursue a relationship so quickly after being raped, it just feels extremely off-putting to me.
