I really enjoy watching your videos.Although i am looming almost 3 years i love watching again your videos for stitches.Always learning something new!I totally understand you,you talk slow, clear and for the foreigners it is perfect!!! thank you a lot
I have learned different names for the loom knit stitch. The e wrap we call cable stitch, the true or classic stitch we call knitting pearl, the flat stitch we call plain. It all works out in the end. I loved the great short little explanations you have on the 4 knit stitch types. Keep up the great work.
I have watched so many of your videos and love the way you explain things-concise, yet thorough, and CONSISTENT & RELIABLE. I feel like because you are thorough, once I watch the video, I feel like I understand it. But then when I see you do the same thing in your other videos, because you are consistent, I really am confirming that I understand it. You are a great teacher!! Thank you!! ❤
Absolutely FANTASTIC instructional videos!! I had no idea that I all these stitches could be created by loom knitting! Your videos are so easy to follow and understand start to finish. You’ve shown what absolutely gorgeous projects are possible. I’m so inspired!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
I never realized, but hoped, that there were other stitches than the e-wrap. Thank you for your videos! I will be pulling the looms out of the closet and start some projects.
Your instructions are so clear and easy to follow. I watched one of your videos and had to try it. I am so glad I did. I have never knitted before and now I can't stop. I'm having ball learning from your wonderful videos! Keep them coming!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I am a visual learner so I really appreciate you making this, I understand now and I can't wait for my first loom to arrive in the mail. I love your videos!!!
I have been only doing e-wraps, never understood the purl/knit. Now i know how to uwrap and the other stitches and can start making more than just e-wrapped hats. Can't wait to watch more videos. Just wish I would have found you months ago. Thanks for all your hard work.
This video is so helpful. I bookmarked it and I refer to it often. You are an excellent teacher. Videos and instructions are very clear. It made me finally understand that there are FOUR (4) different versions of the knit stitch. Love the tip on the easiest and most difficult among them. Thank you for your hard work and for generously sharing it with the rest of us, especially the beginners, like me!
I just purchased your top 10 stitches book. I rarely buy stitch books because they rarely show both flat or in the round. So thank you for that. I also make items for Operation Christmas Child and hats for Veterans so I am happy to support your efforts.
I only knew about e wrap, too.I am so thrilled I found your site. I plan to branch out and try a lot more styles. I just love loom knotting. I have breast cancer and have finished chemo and am about half through radiation, so have an itty bitty amount of hair.I plan to make some interesting caps to donate to the cancer care center. Thanks so much.
Thank you!! This is a great help, especially for me as I have been away from looming for a while and the stitches have become so more advanced! I really appreciate your time and your instructions. So well done!
I recently bought your stitch e book and am so thankful for this wealth of information. My wife got me interested a couple of years back but only knew the basics. I cannot think you enough.
Excellent tutorial, many Thank You's!!! I just pulled my round looms out of the closet and this tutorial has got my right back into loom knitting :) :)
+Pearl B Mccoy Thank you for the Thank you - I really appreciate it ! - Here is a listing of more stitches to keep you looming: www.loomahat.com/loom-knit-stitches/
Excellent instructive video. Well explained and visually clear. Loom knitting is not really well known in the UK yet, so a well constructed video is a great help. Thank you.
Ty Denise loom knitting for over 2 months now done over 40 hats many went to charities.. done socks scarves shoes.. i am now doing swatches of different stitches and doing a small loom of your four and the purl but and i did the knit 3 purl two to get the wave through the hat.. took forever but it came out nice, done blankets and getting serenity loom but i have found some babie boots which i would love to know if you can replicate..but i cant post them here
Thanks for the video I really learned a lot on how to do the different knit stitch. I always wonder how people did different one. Love the videos keep them coming.
That is AWESOME ! Love to know that kids are enjoying this craft learning to be an entrepreneur. Making and Selling - a double whammy - love it love it !
I just started loom knitting this month and have been doing my "U-wraps" without looping the yarn back around, just laying them flat as if doing the flat knit, but one peg at a time. Is there any difference between doing a "U-wrap" my way (so basically the flat knit) vs. the proper way, aside from maybe having a little tighter tension?
I too love all your videos, so clear and easy to follow. My question today is the band knitting on your knitting tool. I covered mine using the tiny colored rubber bands, but they are all starting to break and fall apart now. I noticed yours looks thicker and stronger. Can you tell me the name of the product you used to cover your handles with please. Thanks again for all your help.
I'm new at loom knitting & would like for you to speak on the KB afghan loom on double knitting(rake) & single knitting in the round in one piece. I'm having trouble with tight stitches on the inner pegs. I would like to change colors, add thread, etc. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. 😊
Kinda wish I knew about those better I started my first project... lol now I m gonna have to take it all out n stay again coz they taught me to do the flat stitch but the rim it too tight now... thank you for this
Juliana Mak Thanks for the Thanks Juliana ... glad I could help --- sorry that you have to start again but believe me --- years later I still find myself in this same situation every now and then. I send you a virtual Hug !denise
Odaliz Vera it shouldn't but you might be a tight knitter. No biggy, just pull on the fabric it should turn into those cute little Vs - it just needs some help. Let me know :)
After the cast on, do you do the same stitch both ways? I have been doing a knit purl on my loom. So its the flat stitch right to left then i use the U-wrap going left to right. So seeing your pattern on the hat it looks like I should do the same stitch both ways on all the different stitches? Thank you for any help. New to looming and love it.
Hello when do Flat panels for blocks to sew together for a blanket what stitch would you use I am a beginner and want to make panels for grandkids a blanket Also have you ever did a graphghan with color changes if so do you have a video to show use color changes please
Thanks so much! I couldn't understand why my flat stitch looked so wonky (I am a beginner) - I just had to pull it into shape - LOL - haven't seen that on any other videos!
Can a u-stitch be used/modified to make a garter stitch? I know a garter is 1 row knit, 1 row purl, but can a u-stitch be done 1 row like a knit, 1 row like a purl, using a u-stitch instead of an e-wrap? I'm still early in the learning process, and am considering the possibilities for how to make a fairly tightly loomed blanket (want it warm & not too open) & the e-wrap sounds too loose. Garter &/or u-stitch are the way to go, I'm thinking, but can a u-stitch be used to make a garter-stitch? I also think a cable cast-on would complement the look of a garter stitch, better than any other cast-on/bind-on, but am also trying to find a matching cast-off/binding-off look.
Thanks for the video. It is an excellent way to show the various stitches. I do have one question. On the u-wrap it is possible to start behind and then wrap in front. What is that called....does it make the knit stitch or something entirely different?
Debbie Nemitz Hi Debbie - I saw your follow-up comment and yes what you describe is the e-Wrap and the results are VERY different. The size difference between an item made with a U vs an E wrap is close to half. Here is a website post that might help more: www.loomahat.com/knit-stitch/
LoomaHat.com Thanks for confirming. Once again thanks so much for a great video showing the various stitches. I did once use flat and it got way too tight. It's amazing how much difference just pulling it around like the u makes it so much larger. Although the e-wrap is faster and easier, it also makes the stitches so loose it can be a problem. Thanks again for everything..
I have to ask a question on the loom I have the long Looms not the around what size of the Loom I have 62 pegs all the way down to 26 pegs for a scarf on a two ply Cashmere yarn and it says use a needle if you using needles for knitting 3 to 4 needle what is your suggestion on loom
I really like the E rap on my loom, but how do I stop the first few rows from "curling"? right now I am working with a bungee cord that is 1/8 inch diameter and I get the same output results as if I was using yarn of any kind. my project is a dash mat for my truck. later on I might get more material and actually make seat covers with the bungee cord.
Rob you need to mix stitches to avoid curling - Like a purl stitch every few pegs (rib stitch) or every few rows: ruclips.net/video/l0YlIddiYtY/видео.html
Denise ... love love your videos. I have a question/suggestion. You show how to do the stitches from right to left. Have you ever thought to do a video showing left to right. The reason I ask this is I was making your pencil/eye glass case. The bottom looked awesome.... I got to the top and I did the u wrap backwards and oh Lord it changed the pattern BIG time....I don't know where I went wrong. I had knots on the side, a lacey looking top.... long story short ... I took it off the pegs and trashed it. Please help 😳
@@LoomaHat to be honest Denise I don't remember. I know I tried to find that loop you said to make the sides look neat, I know with the knots on the side I failed there.
hi Denise. when I am making a hat using the e wrap when I firnish my rows I have what looks like a seam next to my anchor peg. am I doing something wrong with my working yarn maybe not tight enough
Hi Mario - say the peg closes to the anchor peg is peg 1 - what you need to do is to pull on the peg next to that one to tighten that stitch. Hope that makes sense
+charles godfrey The stockinette stitch is the knit stitch (one and the same ) - but I like the Uwrap knit stitch for socks - Here is a video of a baby sock - you would do the same technique - just use the 24-peg loom: ruclips.net/video/f2x1BLRv2w8/видео.html
+Michelle CohoonGunderson I use everything - I'm mostly look for color to make sure you can see the stitches. I like Caron Simply Soft a lot but its best to follow the link to the pattern - I always list the yarn brand - type and color
+LoomaHat.com Oh, thank you so much! I guess I didn't do my homework very well, as I did not know you listed the yarn you used in the link. I was mainly paying attention to the tutorial. I've been using Red Heart Super Saver yarn and it hasn't been working so well for me. I believe it's either too thin, or I need to double the strands. I really only use your tutorials because you explain things so well, and what happens if I do or do not do something like you've instructed. I really appreciate your help!
Hi! I'm working on a project on a long loom, and I'm alternating true single knit stitches and purl stitches. How would I go about changing colors here
I need to make a basic hat for a person with a very large head. I want to use the biggest loom but am not sure what stitch or stitches to use. I don't want it real loose stitch. I made one with e wrap but it came out loose. suggestions?
I'm pretty sure the non-e-wraps are "just" different ways of tensioning the same "needle knit" stitch. Someone showed me the true stitch, and I thought I could make it easier and came up with the flat stitch, but found it too tight, so I did the flat stitch one at a time instead of stretching the yarn flat against all the pegs. This ended up more like a "J stitch" which is somewhere between the flat-one-at-a-time and the U-stitch.
Roxanne - have you tried a basic hat first - I'm going to give you a link to an easy project but first watch the video COMPLETELY to the end before starting the project (you'll find the video at the bottom of the page) . PLEASE watch it to the end then get your supplies and try the project - come back and tell me how it went. If you get stuck - you need to tell me at which point so that I can try to help you. www.loomahat.com/simple-slouchy-cowl/
Very new to knitting. How do you do swatches? Would like to practice without using the whole loom like in video. Can u help explain the technique to me.
Hi Hina - you're question is VERY broad - it's really about design - unfortunately, It's impossible for me to tell you when, Just keep in mind that the E give you a larger, looser stitch and the U will give you a smaller, tighter stitch.
I just realized (14 rows into my project) that I've been wrapping my u-wrap stitches from behind the peg instead of from the front. Is this going to ruin my project? Can I continue the way I've been doing it or should I rip it out & start over?
+tbaumeister1 I love those grips - now I can't live without them : ) ... Here is the post with the video: www.loomahat.com/how-to-make-a-grip-for-your-hook/
You're not necessarly doing anything wrong. The eWrap on a large gauge loom is very loose. You either have to get a small gauge like a CinDwood or a KB loom, knit with two strands, use chunky yarn or use a different version of the knit stitch, like the Uwrap.
In this sample - the knit was done flat and not in the round - the result looks different because the stitch then tilts in two different directions instead of one
okay, I have wanted one for so long, but I understand when could are in school. I do enjoy watching your videos best one I have seen,I'm a beginner so they help me a lot. Thank you for making them. Keep them up please.
No. I only have one loop on my loom, I'm trying to learn how to use the loom. You started with a work in progress--- how do I get two loops on the loom?

So the classic stitch is basically the opposite of purling?
+Faelwyn Silverwing That's correct :)
Yes!
Thanks for video!! Can I use the true, uwrap or flat stitch as alternatives when making a classic beanie with brim pattern( ewrap)?
I just started loom knitting this month and have been doing my "U-wraps" without looping the yarn back around, just laying them flat as if doing the flat knit, but one peg at a time. Is there any difference between doing a "U-wrap" my way (so basically the flat knit) vs. the proper way, aside from maybe having a little tighter tension?
If you do one peg at a time, you have less chance in collecting tension. Otherwise no difference.

Thank you so much for explaining the u stitch. I always thought I was doing it wrong. Does same thing happen with the true knit stitch?
Odaliz Vera Hi Odaliz Thanks for the Thanks... trying to understand your question about the true knit - can you elaborate ..
LoomaHat.com When I do the true knit stitch it looks like the u stitch. I feel like I'm doing it wrong. It looks like ladders instead of a V.
Odaliz Vera it shouldn't but you might be a tight knitter. No biggy, just pull on the fabric it should turn into those cute little Vs - it just needs some help. Let me know :)
So easy to understand. Thank you so much.👍🏼😊🌈
I love your tutorials. can you show how to loom knit a baby blanket on round and rectangular loom
Yep - coming up next month - God willing
What cast on do you use if you want to use the u wrap or flat stitch or true stitch
Hi Marie, the direction that knit depends on the pattern and not the version of the knit stitch.

I think I just realized that what I was describing is the e-wrap done individually instead of when wrapping many?

+spooter79 The back side would be the garter stitch: www.loomahat.com/garter-stitch/
Thanks so much 💚😊💚😊
I'm pretty sure the non-e-wraps are "just" different ways of tensioning the same "needle knit" stitch.
I just started looming, and I am having difficulty doing any other stitches but the pur stitch. I tried to follow you; but it is difficult.
If you get stuck - you need to tell me at which point so that I can try to help you. www.loomahat.com/simple-slouchy-cowl/
hi, its me again. pray all is wel. what is the best stitch to use for a scarf.
The Garter Stitch - working on that pattern now for next weekend
Will that stitch be loose or a lil snug. I'm looking for a stitch that will snug it together, I'm trying to make a scarf.
i’m trying to do the flat stitch for a book mark but i’m pretty sure i’m doing it wrong it’s so tight i’m bending the handle of my hook any advice
i was able to take it apart i’m going to try something different
I learned the looser way to do the flat stitch from this video: ruclips.net/video/4n7KsP1KKoY/видео.html. I hope it helps you, too! :)
So how do you start an e wrap, the first wrap on the pegs only produces one loop? Not clear at all
Very new to knitting. How do you do swatches? Would like to practice without using the whole loom like in video. Can u help explain the technique to me.
Leannah - just do 10 stitches and 10 rows - that will help you see the results of the stitch with the desired yarn and loom.
would you suggest the e wrap for hats?
+Debbie Underwood Sure in some cases - really depends on what style you're wanting
How do I start for the Chinese pattern, I would like to try this
im total beginner, pls tell when to use Ewrap n when to use Uwrap. i want to make purse on round loom
Hi Hina - you're question is VERY broad - it's really about design - unfortunately, It's impossible for me to tell you when, Just keep in mind that the E give you a larger, looser stitch and the U will give you a smaller, tighter stitch.
(2 of 2 answers - read the other one too) I highly recommend watching this video : ruclips.net/video/92k2F7Z9x_w/видео.html
hey yes i watched it and got the hang of it plus understood the terms too. Thanksss :)

Thank you for the Thank you jayback50. Very much appreciated !
The classic is the same as purl?
No - it's actually the opposite ruclips.net/video/xVeDJMXi0S8/видео.html
Is it the same as the purl stitch
No this is not the same as the Purl m.ruclips.net/video/xVeDJMXi0S8/видео.html
Some are snobs when it comes to the e-wrap, but I love it. Also, it does not curl if you bloke it correctly...💝
I like the eWrap Michele but you'll get some patterns where that stitch will not be the best option. It's always good to test new waters - right? 😊
I just realized (14 rows into my project) that I've been wrapping my u-wrap stitches from behind the peg instead of from the front. Is this going to ruin my project? Can I continue the way I've been doing it or should I rip it out & start over?
Wow - I have to say that it depends on the complexity of the project - on some patterns yes in other not so much
I don't have a hook like yours what do I use??
Anything with a hook on the end
LoomaHat.com thank u so much you're a blessing my first time knitting I appreciated this thank u Friend
Love your videos!!!!!
how do you begin looming stitch for the criss cross scarf
You can use this method: ruclips.net/video/pHGENuDP44A/видео.html
So then when people say things like a "rib stitch" or a "moss stitch" is it really just purling and knitting certain pegs?
Yep 👍🏽 the placement of the knits and purls determines the stitch pattern 😊
How did you make the grip on your hook?
+tbaumeister1 I love those grips - now I can't live without them : ) ... Here is the post with the video: www.loomahat.com/how-to-make-a-grip-for-your-hook/
I don't really see a difference between "U" wrap and flat.... Is it just a matter of tightness?
That’s correct- the flat is tighter and so a tiny bit smaller
Great information! Thanks!
Thank YOU Kathy !!!
I’m doing the e-wrap, and my inside is so so loose. The stitches are barely visible, and the bars are so long. What am I doing wrong?
You're not necessarly doing anything wrong. The eWrap on a large gauge loom is very loose. You either have to get a small gauge like a CinDwood or a KB loom, knit with two strands, use chunky yarn or use a different version of the knit stitch, like the Uwrap.
Also, how come your "E" wrap sample looks so different from the hat? It looks more zigzagged than straight rows.
In this sample - the knit was done flat and not in the round - the result looks different because the stitch then tilts in two different directions instead of one
could you do a prayer shawl video?
Faith Dodd Hope to - just not sure when - schedule is very tight and trying to cut down on videos and pattern designs. My daughter is back in school.
okay, I have wanted one for so long, but I understand when could are in school. I do enjoy watching your videos best one I have seen,I'm a beginner so they help me a lot. Thank you for making them. Keep them up please.
No. I only have one loop on my loom, I'm trying to learn how to use the loom. You started with a work in progress--- how do I get two loops on the loom?
+Berniece C You have to cast on first. I recommend one row of e-wrap for cast on, then you can proceed with the stitches.
Great tutorial! Thank you :)
G H M R Thank You for the Thank You !
Very helpful, thank you!
+Miz Tenacious T : Thank you for the Thank you Miz !
