  • *YES, DRY EYE SHOP DOES SELL MOISTURE CHAMBERS* contrary to what you might hear in the video. The video is really dated (2018). I'll try to do a new one sometime this year. - Rebecca
    This is a longish video where I explain and show just about every type of dry eye glasses I know of. The Dry Eye Shop only sells some varieties, but I'm a big believer in dry eye glasses as a pain/symptom management tool for all different kinds of dry eye, so I just wanted a way to pass along everything I know in one handy place. Names and websites are all also provided.

    So here's a little update... We stopped selling dry eye glasses last August, but so many people are asking about them that we are going to start stocking some of the simplest ones again. I'll see if we can figure out how to edit the video to clarify :)

    Thank you for making this video! I live in India and I work in front of the computer for more than 12 hours a day. I got a lasik surgery and ever since the dry eye issue has started. There are no moisture chambers here in India when I searched online. I had old speedo swimming goggles which look a little like guard dog evader so I put them on. To my surprise, the constant pain almost disappeared after few minutes. Wearing the swimming goggles for long hours is uncomfortable though!
    I feel bad that your shop is closed but sharing your experience on youtube is going to make a difference for a lot of people out there. Like it did for me. I'm exploring options on building moisture chambers for myself to get the right fit. Good quality ones are costing me more than $350 including shipping and customs. They shouldn't be that expensive.

      Hi there! Awesome to hear that the swim goggles help.
      Our shop isn't closed. We just don't sell all of the moisture chamber glasses anymore. We have some of them - here's a link:
      dryeyeshop.com/collections/dry-eye-glasses-sunglasses
      You might also want to check out zienaeyewear.com, 7eye.com and wileyx.com. I know international shipping, customs duties etc can be very expensive though. The biggest problem is just getting the right fit, so it is usually not practical to try to purchase them internationally.
      Sometimes something as simple as weatherstripping on a pair of regular glasses can work, too.

    Thanks so much for this video!!! I've been a dry eye sufferer (blepharitis AND eyelid eczema) and I'm just now learning that there are prescription moisture chamber glasses out there! I've been wearing huge goggles on top of my glasses inside the house for a year now! I am ready for something like the Ziena, so I really appreciate this video!!

      I’ve read reviews of the eye seals on Amazon and many complain that they break at 3 mos. Did you experience this?

    • @shinzer8
      @shinzer8 2 года назад

      @@elizabethbogard7568 My first pair broke at the side where the band attaches after one year. They are warranted for one year. I now am more careful not to pull on that connection and they have lasted longer.

    For a 4yr old video - this has been a great resource! Thank you for taking the time to discuss the different brands and the how the eyes cups are suppose to come close in contact with the skin and where to watch out for with gaps. Thank you for pointing out alternative brands. I have a high Rx and suffer from ABMD (anterior basement membrane dystrophy). Was looking at Ziena brand and was able to get my hands on two pairs to look at up here in Massachusetts at Mass Eye & Ear. The Ziena Nerus + Seacrest, was wondering what the difference were exactly. The Nerus proved to be a somewhat tighter fit but a slight gap above. I really want to order the Ziena Verona (which they did not have) and will surely try their 10-day trial to see if that is applicable.

    I just ordered some cheap ones to test before I buy then I found this video confirming my choice. I took notes and if these cheap ones work I will check out your suggestions. I love to walk and if it is the least bit cold my eyes pour water even after putting in gel, hoping the is my solution. Thank you for such great information given in such an easy to understand way.

    Hi Rebecca, thank you as always for the incredibly useful information. I have recently tried the ziena model Kai and have noticed that they look great and fit well at the top and the sides. However, there is a 1/4 inch of a gap at the lower portion and I'm wondering whether this gap renders the moisture chamber useless. Do you think a full seal is required to prevent tears from evaporating? Please let me know if you're able to. I can still try other models such as the Nereus.

    Thank you!!!!!!! Sjogren's Syndrome sufferer. My eyes are the hardest hit.
    Do you know if VSP will cover any of these? I tried calling them, and neither the rep nor her supervisor had ever heard of any knid of glasses for dry eye. I even sent them your video in a dm on Twitter.
    Even working at home, I'm screaming and crying b/v my work room is in the back of the apartment with no a/c., so I need a box fan on high just to survive. It's killing me. I need some moisture chambers.

    Such an awesome video. Just got Bell's Palsy and needed something for eye. Don't want to wear a patch, one-eyed thing cuz I'm a salesman and a vocal performer...kinda have to look semi-normal but still need protection.
    This is the best video ever for dry-eye stuff. Hope you are doing well still. Do you sell stuff or just give great advice? :)

      Rebecca at the Dry Eye Shop has been so helpful to me. She is a a fabulous resource and I have ordered from her shop multiple times. Some things I do that you might consider: press and seal (from the grocery store) over my eyes to sleep. I used to wear it directly over my eyes, but I prefer wearing it over my eye seals goggles. Then it doesn’t stick directly to my eyes and I can lift it up and pull it down as needed when I get up. I also used to cut it into ovals, now I just rip off a few inches and apply it, leaving my nose free so I can breathe; it’s so easy and inexpensive. Another tip: since COVID there have been a proliferation of safety glasses available on Amazon that function for me as moisture chamber glasses. They are inexpensive and a good way to see if that that will help your eyes.

    • @elizabethbogard7568
      @elizabethbogard7568 2 года назад

      Excellent suggestions! I bought the press & seal today. I don’t have goggles yet but plan to put it over a sleep eye mask when it comes. Thanks for your guidance in unknown territory.
