    There are a few things I accidentally left out... people who can't tape because their eyes are too deep set, or their lids are far too sensitive for any tape, can tape a pad over the eye to hold the lid down. My favorite for that is using one of the Tranquileyes pads - they are washable, viscoelastic (very soft) and can be trimmed to the best size. I also forgot to mention dry eye glasses for daytime use. We don't sell them anymore but you can get them at zienaeyewear.com.

      Hi, and thanks for your expertise on the Dry Eye subject. Recently one of my eye docs recomended me using an humidifier, and it really helps me .Do you have any ideas to make it more efective?

    Just realized I completely forgot to mention Neil in Mississippi who first introduced me to the Kind Removal tape many many years ago, and later to Mepitac. I am so grateful to visitors/readers/customers who let me know about new products as I don't have time to keep up with everything!

    Thank you so much for taking the time to make these informative videos. I use the Nexcare. Years before, other paper tapes, and even Scotch tape. My opthalmologist was of no help, except ointments, which did not work for me. I think I may try the EyeSeals 4.0. Just watched your Tranquileyes video too, so not sure. I'm finding my skin is more sensitive as I grow older. The EyeLoccs adhesive is too light for my eyes. I find my eyes open at night, no matter how hard I try to press that adhesive down. Thanks again. Love the videos and love The Dry Eye Shop.

    I need tape personally...the mepitac take is extremely high quality. It’s the only adhesive I’m not allergic to. It’s a perfect width at 1.5” and it conforms nicely to the lid. That way, you don’t feel it as much as a paper tape. Paper tapes can almost wrinkle on my lids and that is not fun at all.

    How about just an eye mask to wear at night?

    • @TheDryEyeShop
      @TheDryEyeShop  3 года назад +2

      You mean a light blocking sleep mask? That can work if you don't need the extra moisture of a moisture chamber. But you have to be careful with sleep masks, depending on the size of the lid opening and your sleep style, a mask can come in contact with the cornea and cause an abrasion. The ones with the cavities to vault the eye area and enough structure not to get pressed down are best. Escape by Dream Essentials is good. Contoured eye mask by same is okay for back sleepers. Manta Mask may be good as well. Another consideration is that the ones with the nice cotton fabrics on the side towards the eyes may absorb moisture (rather than reflect it back like goggles etc) so again it depends on the severity of the problem.

    My right eyelid will not close completely after upper bleph surgery. It is 12 days post surgery. The plastic surgeon's PA at 4 day post op visit dismissed my concerns and just said, "it will get better". No warning or suggestions on how to protect my eye. I went a week with not understanding this situation and was so uncomfortable, felt like sandpaper in my eye. This is the ONLY video I found addressing the one eye nonclosure issue. THANK YOU! I will order the tape asap and maybe the bubble shield.
    I have another post op visit tomorrow. Not sure what the surgeon will say. I am so distraught over this. Not sure what to except for the future. Are there eyelid stretching exercises that can stretch the lid so it closes in time?

    Hi! I have a problem that i sleep with both eyelids totaly open after a surgery of Ptose i was born with. The doctor sewed up my eyelids with a nerve from my thigh and attached it to a muscle above my eyebrows. So i i have just enough muscle in my eyelids to blink on daytime. But they go up as soon as i fall asleep. So the eyes are wery dry thru the night...what would you recommend to fix this problem? The niteeye looks pretty good. And i am also looking for some googles to try out...:) Im 30years old and never had my eyes shut one night so getting pretty fed up with this problem:)

      Hi there, sorry to hear that! NITEYE is pretty much failsafe as it reliably creates a complete seal and is pretty much independent of size, but it's not always the best long-term solution due to cost and adhesive. For goggles, it depends on your size and sleep style. In general I would say that the Eyeseals 4.0 is the one most likely to replicate the performance of NITEYE *if* it fits properly. It runs a little large. You should probably be prepared for some trial & error with products, to be able to get something that both does the job and is comfortable enough to sleep in. In your circumstances I would not attempt using the Tranquileyes as there could be risk of the foam coming in contact with the eye and causing an abrasion. Feel free to schedule a call, we can talk over the options in more detail. calendly.com/dryeyeshop

      Hello, had the exact same surgery when I was 14 but never suffered from dry eye until trauma on my face along with Bells Palsy symptoms damaged one nerve side of my face and I have what is known as synkinesis I also sleep with my eyes a bit open and had a punctual plug placed years ago and no longer suffered from dry eye but that one side got worse after I recently had Botox and lifted my eyebrow nicely but I’m now having issue with eye closure and therefore dry eye 😢I ordered the eyelocc strips and will also order the other two Rebecca recommended. I have an eye appointment in a few days. I’ll update with results. Thank you!

    Can I just wear swimming goggles instead?

    • @TheDryEyeShop
      @TheDryEyeShop  3 года назад +1

      Sure. And plenty of people do. (Depends a bit on medical condition, always best to clear anything worn over the eyes with your eye doctor.) The main practical limiting factor is comfort and whether they dig into the skin too much. Also, with anything airtight, you want to try to avoid having it on for more than 8 hours straight if poss.
