I had eye floater but I healed myself and had dry eyes but I fixed it too best treatment for dry eyes is to stop thinking that you have dry eyes and don't depend on lubricant eye drops cause it's kinda addictive to eyes use omega tablets or ginkgo biloba and drink enough water it's works better than eye drops I think dry eyes is very simple problem and have so many solutions some changes in life style can fix it like avoid too much computer screen time and vr too is number one in dry eyes and eye strain problems this days go out run play swim but not in the sea cause salty water can increase dry eyes

The first time I felt dryness in my eyes was before 9 years ago where I always has been experiencing dry eye symptoms (mostly burning) right after being exposed to the sun.. my symptoms were not so bad, and I was able to live my life without any specific treatment for them, but I felt that the symptoms are getting worse over time unfortunately, also after one year and a half I had a LASIK surgery for my eyes and since then my dry eye syndrome is getting worse and worse over time unfortunately.. I tried different modalities to treat my eyes such as IPL, Xiidra and Restasis drops, artificial eye drops, natural eye drops, eyelid wipes, omega-3 supplements and warm compresses but unfortunately non of them has alleviate my symptoms significantly 😞
I feel depressed, hopeless and unable to live my life as before.. I have found out that the weather and the climate around me is the only thing that could help a lot to manage my symptoms, being in a humid environment, low exposure to the sun, moderate temperatures is what you need.. but unfortunately I can’t be in that environment at the moment unfortunately since I live in the middle east..
Hopefully someone could find out more helpful treatment modalities for dry eye disease to help such complex cases as mine😔

Regularly check out your videos - always informative, learning a lot. Thank you. I had cataract surgery 2 years ago at age 71. Since then have suffered with constant dry eyes - always very irritated; teary, itchy, blurry vision with blepharitis. Very good news now - 2 weeks ago started using SYSTANE COMPLETE, PF drops, 2x daily and ... NO more dry eyes! Most recently purchased Blepharitis Eye Wash pads with Tea Tree oil as a preventive step along with a plug-in eye mask but it's the SYSTANE COMPLETE PF drops that really made the difference! BTW - have taken Omega 3 supplements for years. Happy not to have spent $1500. yearly for chronic MGD/LipiFlow treatments. Thank you again.

I know there are a lot of people out there who don't suffer from dry eyes or eye fatigue while starring at a computer screen all day, but based on some published research, I believe some people just "hyperfocus" and tend to gaze more at the screen and not blink.
Similar to how some people hypergrip the video game controller and make it all hot and sweaty. lol

Thank you so much for the information you provide us. I suffer from extreme red eyes and red eye lids. One dr told me it was ocular rosacea and the other dry eye. I think it is dry eye because the methods you talked about in this video do seem to help. I still have to use lumify daily to take the severe redness away. Ive tried doxycicline and it helped a little bit but the side effects i didnt care for. It upset my stomach if not taken with food and made me sun burn in the winter time lol. Im going to try to be consistent doing these methods you talked about and see if it helps out more.

My eyes have been dry for 30 years from Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency and Malabsorption Syndrome. These were a result of having Mono. I use moisture chambers and wrap around sunglasses. Celluvisc and Soothe are used daily. I take many supplements and over the counter meds for all three problems. Prescription meds are used for my digestive diseases. Luckily, my eyes have no pain and aren't red.

I feel like this video has spoken to me the most out of all the dry eye videos of yours I've seen. My optomitrist did tell me that any tears that do get on my eyes tend to evaporate near immediately. In retrospect, I had dry eye issues specifically when I wore contact lenses. My eyes would get heavy pretty quickly after putting the contact lenses in so I wouldn't wear them often. But my eyes would feel fine with just my glasses on. However, it especially got bad maybe 6 months or so after I got LASIK. Not symtoms of severe dry eye till months after the surgery which I found odd. I did start taking a vegan Omega 3, 6, and 9 blend supplement but I'm not sure if the dosage is high enough with the Omega 3 specifically. Recently I've tried upping my dosage so we'll see how that goes. Thank you for all these videos!

I am Identical to your situation…everything you describe is as if I am explaining it myself. The light sensitivity was off the charts. I just started xidra …it does help in the tearing and even light sensitivity. I still feel dry at times, light sensitivity can still be a struggle but not to the point of needing to shut my eyes to go outside on a cloudy day. Much better. I can even drive at night. Night time (sleeping is still awful…eyes get really dry, but I am an artist and can work again and that is marvelous …I noticed a difference within days of starting it. Not cured, but worth every penny. Stings going in a bit…but so worth it. I say if people have a problem with the sting upon application, their dry eye is t bad enough yet 🤪🤪. I'm in Boston, MA and the weather gets just as bad in the winter and the winds seem to evaporate my tears. I think I have dry eye that has caused "anterior basement membrane dystrophy" which I recently got diagnosed with. Currently applying erythromycin 4x a day under eye dr supervision. I am strongly considering moisture chamber glasses to have on hand during the transition of the seasons winter-to-spring and summer-to-fall when I have these episodes of bad eye pain which I have thought in the past was all related to allergies. (I am also a web developer so I am in front the computer all-the-time and also implementing the 20-20-20 rule to reduce strain on eyes. When I get a flare up with my eyes. Generally it’s one or the other. Very rare it’s both at the same time. I use chloramphenicol eye drops for conjunctivitis. It seems to work the best for me. It makes the glands excrete the waxed up oil by themselves with ease (and it makes you able to squeeze it out of your eyelid easily if needed as well) after a few days they are good again.

Though my eyeliner was only done on the top eyelids and most of my meibomian gland loss is on the bottom so I think the eyeliner may have played a part but wasn’t the main cause. I have gotten better but I still have a burning sensation every day and my eyes feel gritty. I can hardly work on the computer and my work productivity has gone down to 30 out of 100. I started taking PRN Omega 3 around 6 weeks ago and I am hoping it will also do miracles like with you! I last week started adding cod liver oil as well so now I am close to 4g a day of fish oil. Found out from a Dr that I was very high in oxalates because of the regular diet items of spinach, almonds, almond flour, almond milk and almond butter. But that’s because I have aging eyes and my eyes are so dry that my eyelids stick to my eyeballs at night and there have been times where the tear film has been torn when I try to open my eyes. But I have found some relief! Thank goodness because my severe dry as h*ll on earth. 😮 . Daytime I use Refresh Celluvisc. It truly is a lubricant eye GEL. Other things claim to be jealous but they’re more of a thick liquid. This has great lubrication power! I also like Soothe XP for advanced dry eye therapy . Nighttime I use Muro 128. The Muro is more like a lotion than an ointment. Unfortunately I need to do maintenance throughout the night as well and then I will use the soothe XP drops. But while it really is hard to get a good nights rest, at least I have not had another episode of my stuck eyelid tearing my eye film which is so incredibly painful every single blink afterwards. I also moved away from Utah which is so incredibly dry and I now live in the Midwest. There is no cure for my dry eye (I have seen two ophthalmologist and both are cornea specialists) but I am managing it fairly well so I will take it! 💖🥰💖 👁️🤷🏻‍♀️💪🏼🌸

This is what you NEED!!! I’ve done the ipl’s I’ve done the lipiflow, also restasis, tried plenty drops with only relief that lasts a few mins. And who wants HEAT with INFLAMMATION?!? My eyes are like dry plants, they suck up anything. Ointments help but it’s still not enough. You need SEA BUCKTHORN OIL! Loaded with omegas, and INSTANT RELIEF (I took liquid orally) Intense hydration throughout your entire body, and delivered simultaneously, not just “holding” the moisture. When I blinked my eyes felt normal/oily :) not only do I suffer from dry eye, tear imbalances, but also slight conjunctival chalasis :/ not fun, when you blink you feel the dry eye.
Restasis helped but it takes awhile for the cells to die and create new, plus expensive. After taking for six months my eyes def were still on the dry side.
There are also some new vitamins by “now” manufacturer “eye moisture” some different ingredients including maquibright, cayenne pepper, organic açaí palm berry, turmeric juice powder, grape seed extracts. Grapes also benefit the eyes elasticity:)

Hey thanks for asking! I have heard of the Max Dailies but I still have not had a chance to try them yet (sadly). There is one other contact lens I am aware of that also has some reduction in high energy low wavelength light, and thats the Total 30 lens. Research on blue light is still a bit...needed. Based on what I have read, blue light blocking may be beneficial for sleep cycles if up late at night, and if someone is higher risk for retinal disease, maybe it would help too (but this is still debated in the literature). The one benefit from the Oasys Max that I think could help is the fact it is a daily lens. And they usually are more comfortable and they are less likely to carry deposits from one day to the next.

I have lost about 40 % of meobian glands. Can I restore my glands ? You actually told a lot of about managing this disease , long term battle. I understand that is life long disease, but are there at least some studies that show that meobian glands can be grow back?

As of this time, the answer is sadly no. I have also lost a significant amount of meibomian glands and am fairly young (21 years old) so I very much feel your pain. While glands that are damaged from clogging and/or inflammation can be restored, ones that are already dead will remain gone for good. All that can be done right now are maintenance procedures so more glands are not lost. But significant progress is being made in regenerative researches like utilizing stem cells and the process of de-aging. So stay hopeful and take good care of your eyes while we wait for these breakthroughs in science to happen. We will see a cure for our ailments in this lifetime my friend :)

I got PRK and LASIK way back 25 years ago and have suffered from floaters, dry eyes, and some other issues since. I was 21 when I got it done. I wore contacts before then and I think I might have had mild dry eyes due to excess contacts, lots of up close activities, and poor sleep probably but I don't think it was too terrible. The laser surgery was definitely a mistake for me. I was still near sighted afterwards and had all these other issues as well. I have gotten some limited relief form OMEGA3 supplements and will probably take those daily for the rest of my life as a result but it's not enough - I still have dry eyes. Hence, I'm curious about scleral lenses.

Hi Doctor, what is your astigmatism prescription? Can it cause eye pain or headaches if no vision aid is used for extended periods?

I’m in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy and it makes my eyes incredibly dry..and I decided that I want prescription contacts again after 14 years! Needless to say I’m on a mission to wear comfortable contacts, I’m tired of dry eyes and tired of my glasses! 😅

What is the relationship with dry eyes and blurry vision after DALK surgery. And what can I do for make the vision better

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  Год назад +1

DALK is a pretty specific corneal surgery. Either way though, any surgery of the eye and especially the cornea, carries a risk of disturbing the tear film stability or homeostasis (all the antibiotics and other eye drop medications). Ultimately, to improve vision you should work closely with your corneal surgeon or any dry eye specialists in your area. Wish I could help more, but just knowing you had DALK, you have a more complicated eye history and deserve in person, specialized care.

Have you tried Manuka honey? I started using the Opti Mel gel based on your video.

How has that helped you?? I used it for about 1-2 months, but I dreaded the sting!!!! But perhaps it would be good to do a more strict trial with taking before and after photos...along with imaging my oil layers. perhaps I should plan another video lol

Dr Allen, could adapalene (and in general retinoids) damage meibomian glands and cause dry eyes?

I don’t have dry eye but I do get that meibomian gland problem with getting blocked so I will take preventative measures.

This is the best sponsor integration I've seen on RUclips. You integrated the laptop seemlessly into every part of your video, and not once did I feel sold to. No doubt Asus was just as impressed as I was.

Hey I appreciate that! It’s not always easy to work with sponsors and make a video that provides value without it coming off as a huge advertisement. But yes, I hope Asus was pleased with it. I still use the laptop too

I got an eyelash stuck in my eye and because I've got dry eyes is hard to get it out. I can't see it now because it got all the way down to the right corner. Is there something I can put in my eye that can help move the eyelash? Eye drops don't seem to work.
