Thanks for the review. I'm comparing the Z10 to the Q10 for my office. I initially chose the Z10 because of the screen size but got word from our organization's ISO the Z10 was a bit problematic. I did not get specifics about the problems so I came here to get a quick overview of the Q10. You did a great job. Thanks again.
Blackberry has their own market which is business, and I think they should stick to that market while improving the phone instead of trying to jump on the commercial side
+Miri xoxo Lol, i'm about to buy this phone online. I've thinking of switching from touch screen phones. I looked at several options including old flips phones and sliders but decided while yes i'm tired of the Galaxy/Iphone, I still want to have a solid browser meaning 2g/3g isn't gonna cut it.
I have had trouble with touch screens due to exercising. When I am sweating or it is raining outside it is difficult to use. Also hard to use if your fingers are cold.
John you always give fair and balanced reviews. I've had 2 BBs in the past before I bought my iphone 4 . Whenever Sprint decides to FINALLY release the Q10 I'm am eligible . Thanks for the balanced opinion.
I don't understand people saying that gestures starting from the keyboard is a problem. Most of the time your thumbs will be resting on the keyboard and for example, after you finish typing a message your thumb will still be on the keyboard, all you have to do is swipe up from your keyboard to your screen then you're home. It's not a problem at all.
Personally, I think this phone looks pretty awesome. I know the latest craze is all the 10 - inch screens on smartphones now, and they are only good if they're 1080p, and have a 5,000 mah battery, but as a smartphone and tech fan, I must say this phone looks pretty terrific. Shame on all of you who say it looks bad, or that RIM is on their way out... I give them props for staying basic but still knocking this one out of the park... I would absolutely consider this phone as my next choice.
The keyboard on the Q10 is the biggest they put out on a Blackberry so far... and it works fine. I have my Nexus, and yes, I love being able to play games and use modern applications, but I always found myself doing that. I went back to my old curve for a week and I found myself paying attention in class and actually loving the keyboard. All I NEED to do is text applications, sure I would WANT to do more, but I got the nexus for that. Switching phones is as easy as switching the sim. No problem.
First of all I really enjoyed your video. You made it interesting and kept me engaged to the end :) I really want a phone with the qwerty keyboard but they all seem to come at a price. Which is you either have the keyboard experience and not the visual experience or visa versa. I don't want to compromise either but really don't enjoy touching/texting on the touch phones and find myself missing the experience of the physical touch qwerty keypad. Didn't really understand what you meant by no send or receive button. The Home button could be an issue as I am used to sliding a couple of times or clicking a home key. I'll go and have a look at the Z10 now, thanks :)
I have owned a BlackBerry Q10 since April 2015. That's four years now. I love the phone. And I like it by prefer it better then a iPhone or android phone with no with soft buttons One thing that you did not mention or highlight is that it has excellent voice dictation. My laptop that I had I spilled coffee on it one month ago and I'm replacing it with another one. So when I comment on RUclips I can use dictation and it gets it mostly right
Thanks for the video man. I do most of my writing on my handheld and I'm losing my head with these touch screen keyboards. The one thing that is killing this device for me is the lack of blackberry apps! Ugh!
Blackberry Q10 is a splendid smartphone which is fully equipped with lots of features. This smartphone comes with QWERTY keyboad as well as a touch screen. Aido offers Discount on Blackberry Q10
You guys are probably the only Non BB fan site that actually cares about sideloading. . .just putting that out there. . .thanks for at least considering it. . .carry on. . .
the shortcut is there if you are in the locked screen there you have a camera button right below. also when you have your phone unlucked you can open your camera in 1 sec
I love my husband's Z10 and was going to get that, but I timed my typing speed and I can type twice as fast on my qwerty keyboard on my Bold 9900 compared to his Z10. So I plan to buy the Q10 for the qwerty keyboard. I have to type a lot of communication with companies on the qwerty keyboard and I don't want to have to double my typing time. But I do wish it had a larger screen for photos.
I already own an iPhone 5 but I want this one. This is a state-of-the-art phone, but the criticism has taken the company down. There was a time when BlackBerry had 55% share in the market, and now just 0.9%, whenever the company is highly successful people start opposing it. This is human nature.
Good review. However I think you should listen to the audio of this review. There are some strange tapping noise going on in the background every once in a while. Sounds like something wobbling on a hardwood table.
Dude, tell your neighbour to stop with the drums. He's no good and never will be. And while you're at it, tell your cameraman that he needs to learn about depth of field, when to use it and when NOT to use it. Clearly, he doesn't know.
Jon, Good review video. I think that your review underlines certain things about the Q10 & Blackberry as a whole. Blackberry phones are a niche market product. The mainstream is now Android & (partially) Apple. As you say, if you want a physical keyboard on your phone, then the Q10 is perfect. But for anyone else, the screen and the Blackberry OS are not as good as the latest Android phones. Blackberry's recent big financial losses mean that the company's days maybe numbered.
Hi Jon! Honestly not one of your best reviews but I think that had mostly to do with the limitations of the Q10 itself. Heard people are having problems adding their enterprise or exchange email accounts on the device. Is this true? Well I took your advice and got myself a HTC One! Happy so far. Thanks!
A deciding factor as important as the phone, is the user. Do they use their phone as their laptop, in which case, this phone will satisfy, and Android/Windows/iPhone will disappoint at the first flash website. Or are they the super-social app-happy type that feels left out if they can't run with their pack on instagram.
Call quality is good, and you can now download the google play store. Awesome awesome phone, definately recommended esp at these prices. Team Blackberry!
Depending on the storage on your iPod. If it's 32 GB or more, I'd go for the BB. They are cool and you can get any missing apps onto your Apple device. Good luck!
Kinda yeah? If theres a bit of complication then theres some more features, just think a of military tech, the more complex the better most of the time
I thought it was awesome that you shared some "irrational" opinions. Strangely I kinda get it. I mean if you're gonna get a phone with a full physical qwerty keyboard, it'd be a little weird to have to answer/hang up calls using the touch screen. Great review, Jon.
The device you bought was probably broken or something, i bought an s3 a few weeks ago to upgrade and didn't get lag. Anyways, you chose the iphone and i have no problem with that, im actually happy for you.
the swipe SUCKS , why they removed the panel that was on the 9900 above the keyboard i cant understand , so annoying , drags the phone so much down..... considering getting a 9900 just because that bar aint there.
i am also hoping bb will add more keys. 2 convenience keys, bb key, back button, call and end buttons and a trackpad. wow that would be perfect!! oh yea, isnt how that how they used to be?
great phone, great os! I currently use the z10 and its amazing! BlackBerry 10 is great. it has all yhe apps i want to use, screen looks amazing and the multitasking is the best, this thing really flies. and as Jon d I'd wish more people would be aware of how awesome the new blackberries are.
BlackBerry missed one thing with this phone, from making it a really great device. The screen is too small. Just like Jon says in the video, they should have AT THE VERY LEAST had a 3.5 inch screen but I would say they should have had a 4 inch screen.
Most of the ppl don't use keyboard on their phone because they simply don't need it apparently. me for my part can't use a phone without a qwerty keyboard, it is simply more comfortable if you write email or play playstation games on a phone but most people are just making phone calls on it so they don't need that comfort, or they simply don't know how it feels to use a qwerty kb on a phone in the first place.
It was a virus for Windows but the files were put to that App in the appstore , it didnt effect iOS. User doesnt care on how many phones it has to work , it cares if it works right or not.
4 inch screen AND a physical keyboard?? That would make the phone twice the size dude! My Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 has a 3.8 inch screen and it's entirely touch (and more than enough screen for me).
I feel like Blackberry is a lot better at making hardware than software... I wish they would switch to exclusively making physical qwerty keyboard phones with android. They could have a custom skin like Samsung and HTC do that could come with BBM and various other features that could set it apart.
You were enthusiastic about the important typical features like, battery, build quality, and typing experience, even call quality, but you didn't research (you can dial from the home screen with out opening an app) or review any of the unique Q10 functionality. This phone is designed for efficiency, but there is a lot more to it than shown in this review.
It's all about priorities. The XBOX music store has a lot going for it. And the modern interface is a nice refresh. I know iOS is rock solid, but it's just a bit too blah for me. iOS 7 fixes some of that, but not completely.
Hurm...still leaning towards getting one but where does one get one unlocked for the no-contract person who wants a Q10 (or even a Z10 if it's not like thousands of dollars)? Also, do you review the phones on Straight Talk? I'd like to know what you think of that Windows phone they have now. Thanks!
Maybe it lags but it still depends on how the user uses the phone About appstores, you know you can download more than 1 appstore on the android right? And both of us can't deny the fact that anything can get infected, maybe nothing has been discovered on the iphone, but who knows
quick question: should i get this or the bold 9900 my 9780 just died and i loved the simplicity and comfort of that keyboard yes, i'm oldschool and i don't a damn about apps just comfort
ANY ONE IN 2019..♥️
Anyone 2019 lol this was published 5 yrs ago

MrTechnology83 How's the battery life?

lol I'm literally thinking to downgrade from iPhone to this but to me it feels like an upgrade.
Why would anyone downgrade their phone❓
+Joshua Joji I meant upgrade
+Miri xoxo Lol, i'm about to buy this phone online. I've thinking of switching from touch screen phones. I looked at several options including old flips phones and sliders but decided while yes i'm tired of the Galaxy/Iphone, I still want to have a solid browser meaning 2g/3g isn't gonna cut it.

thats the reason why I'm watching this :D

I definitely understand about the physical call and end buttons, it's because BlackBerry has always had those so it feels weird without it.

Welcome back, hope you had a nice vacation!
Your reviews are really amazing there good video quality simple I like how you have each topic of a phone in sections

Finally I only watch Techno Buffalo if Jon is here
Getting one 4 my birthday another great review from John
Thanks for replying i'll keep that in mind

Excellent review Jon @TechnoBuffalo!

welcome back Jon
THIS, is why someone should always be monitoring the audio when recording.
every point you mentioned i completely agree with. it's exactly why i still prefer the iphone, despite owning a galaxy s4.
BlackBerry Q10 still an awesome phone
hum that purple background did not come with my Q10 , did you download that ?
I love love love your reviews Jon!
Great review. I just ordered mine.
4:12 dogs a dog in BACKGROND
That noise in the background is soooo annoying
Great review buddy, I think the same about the home button, cheers

Shut your'e fucking brown curried mouth.
Ravi Srinivas hahahaha nice one!
Ravi Srinivas yea he still bad
I was talking about the new ones that blast sound directly into your eardrums.
One phrase that still makes me a buyer. "Blackberry email server"
Jon,
Good review video. I think that your review underlines certain things about the Q10 & Blackberry as a whole. Blackberry phones are a niche market product. The mainstream is now Android & (partially) Apple.

Blackberry's recent big financial losses mean that the company's days maybe numbered.
Your videos are so much better than the others on RUclips! (Y)
I have an LG G2, but recently have been longing for the missed physical keyboard.
Jon's not back yet. This video was recorded before he went on vacation. It was just uploaded today.
Hi Jon! Honestly not one of your best reviews but I think that had mostly to do with the limitations of the Q10 itself. jon, please use a mic with a suspension mount, you wont get that popping sound from vibrations then!
Average quality pictures??? Are you kidding? Its 8 MP camera actually makes better pictures than the iPhones.
very good and fair review. unbiased
Tried is the other day, the keyboard is definitely better than previous blackberry ones, or any physical qwerty keyboard out there for that matter.
Call quality is good, and you can now download the google play store. Awesome awesome phone, definately recommended esp at these prices. Team Blackberry!
Can you get WhatsApp and Instagram on it ?
abdou kane yes you can
This isn't a bad phone BB only problem is marketing . Their phones look polished clean and professional .
Depending on the storage on your iPod. If it's 32 GB or more, I'd go for the BB. They are cool and you can get any missing apps onto your Apple device. Good luck!
Excellent review Jon.
Can't wait to get it
If they had a qwerty android phone with all the top specs.... id be rocking it!!
BTW Jon kind of upset that my Twist wasn't on your countdown of favorite phones of all-time!

Hello Michael Buble
Hahahaha yes!
good review John
keep it coming
i am also hoping bb will add more keys. 2 convenience keys, bb key, back button, call and end buttons and a trackpad. wow that would be perfect!! oh yea, isnt how that how they used to be?
The Droid 4 has a physical keyboard, just saying if you are borderline and on Verizon, look into it.
it's 720x720 but it is also pentile so that PPI number is misleading
great phone, great os! I currently use the z10 and its amazing! BlackBerry 10 is great. it has all yhe apps i want to use, screen looks amazing and the multitasking is the best, this thing really flies. and as Jon d I'd wish more people would be aware of how awesome the new blackberries are.
I have this phone and I love it. For me a phone should be a phone, not a slab of glass (and they all look the same) used to play Angry Birds 24/7.
why wouldn't they put a bigger screen on this? it looks short as it is, even with the keyboard.
Im going back to my older keyboard... Thanls a lot
Nice review, indeed the screen os way too small and the lack of apps is dissappointing
BlackBerry missed one thing with this phone, from making it a really great device. The screen is too small. Just like Jon says in the video, they should have AT THE VERY LEAST had a 3.5 inch screen but I would say they should have had a 4 inch screen.
7.5??? Its a great phone for what its made for, I'm definitely gonna get this
I love the Q10!
Listen to the video with headphones on. Why was someone tapping the mic the whole time?
JON UR BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK , SO HAPPY
Most of the ppl don't use keyboard on their phone because they simply don't need it apparently.
me for my part can't use a phone without a qwerty keyboard, it is simply more comfortable if you write email or play playstation games on a phone
but most people are just making phone calls on it so they don't need that comfort, or they simply don't know how it feels to use a qwerty kb on a phone in the first place.
I really want to try a BB just to see how the os is, but I don't thing I'd use it as my daily driver
It was a virus for Windows but the files were put to that App in the appstore , it didnt effect iOS.
User doesnt care on how many phones it has to work , it cares if it works right or not.
Jon is not back.. He recorded these vids befor going for vacation.. He had said so..
Blackberry needs to adopt android and may be skin it as a BB UI. The build quality is first class.
4 inch screen AND a physical keyboard?? That would make the phone twice the size dude! My Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 has a 3.8 inch screen and it's entirely touch (and more than enough screen for me).
since when does skill haven anything to do with using a phone? You want your phone to be more complicated to use?
I feel like Blackberry is a lot better at making hardware than software... I wish they would switch to exclusively making physical qwerty keyboard phones with android. They could have a custom skin like Samsung and HTC do that could come with BBM and various other features that could set it apart.

Is Technobuffalo ES a part of the original Technobuffalo
Great review. Thank you

About appstores, you know you can download more than 1 appstore on the android right?
And both of us can't deny the fact that anything can get infected, maybe nothing has been discovered on the iphone, but who knows
Still won't be up to the standards BB sets for their keyboards. It is an alternative though.
Hey Jon I have the Q10 and you can have 8 apps open at the same time not 4
yay jon is back :D
He's still on vacation, these are the videos he pre-recorded. :)
quick question: should i get this or the bold 9900
my 9780 just died and i loved the simplicity and comfort of that keyboard
yes, i'm oldschool and i don't a damn about apps
just comfort
so should i go with this or the 9900?
Get the Q10! the 9900 bold is good but the Q10 is like a bold on Steroids! Bigger screen and much more capability
Jon is not back. This was pre recorded...
I wanted this phone to be better. I wanted it to be a no brainer to buy, now I really have to think about it.
i completely agree
How many reviews of the Q10 do you have to do?
I'm not sure to keep my iphone 5 or get the BB Q10 for the keyboard
