- WHY DID KEYBOARDS EVER DIE!? This is my small review of the Blackberry Q10 and my experiences with it thus far.

Easily install your BAR files onto your BlackBerry device with this Chrome plug-in. First install it. Then under the window tab go to :Extensions - PlayBook Manager - Options and add your BlackBerry Q10 ip address. Then click manager your device.
You can also get the BlackBerry developer sideloading application. It may be less buggy, but this Chrome method is very simple and easy.

I've had my Q10 for 2.5 years now and it's been a blast.
Pros:
- Blackberry Hub: having all my messages in one place (SMS, emails, Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp etc) is the best thing ever. It makes the transition between messages/apps so quick and smooth. This feature is seriously underrated.
- Keyboard: do I even need to say why?
- Gestures: very intuitive, one swipe and you can exit an app to quicky check a message or have a look to another app. I love it.
- Battery life: it easily keeps up for a whole day. I also bought an additional battery so I can switch quickly on those days when I use a lot of 3G or take a lot of pics/videos.
- Video quality is great. Photo quality is not the best on the market but still very good..
- This is definitely a sturdy phone. I dropped mine countless times and there were a few falls I know other smartphones wouldn't have survived. My screen was shattered once after a 2 meters dive that ended on concrete floor, but I guess that was a very long shot...
Cons:
- Small screen, plus the square shape makes the screen look even smaller when you watch videos since they are 16:9.
- Despite being compatible with Android apps, many apps don't run on this phone. I have Instagram, Candy Crush and a few others that run very well, but I can't get SnapChat and a few other things. Not the end of the world but it can be annoying sometimes.
I know I'll have to replace my phone soon since I dropped it so many times I screwed the camera's autofocus (which bothers me a lot because I take a lot of pics/videos), otherwise I'd be very happy to keep it for as long as I could.
Physical keyboard... I want it... No more of this tapping a screen bullshit. I want buttons
Glass weave isn't a marketing term, its fibre glass weaved together. I don't know why this is confusing, it is stronger than plastic.
I own this phone and I have something to mention about the battery life . The phone' battery is awesome ! One day I saw my battery drained abnormally fast but I realized that was because some apps where still running in the background in such a way that I lost 40% of battery life overnight , but again when you close all the running apps , you can easily use it for two days straight without any issue. That's something you need to consider . Overall the phone is pretty good , and I am happy with it .
Im getting a blackberry for productivity. For grown adults, a blackberry is supposed to get work done not for games!
Roman Ash I have a Q10, the battery life is awesome. I chuckle every time someone asks for a charger, my phone always lasts the entire day on one charge with plenty of life to spare.
+Ken45 I went from an Android phone that comfortably lasted 3-4 days between charges, so going to a Q10 that I have to charge every 1-2 days actually felt like a bit of a step back, even though I like the phone

I got this phone and it's been 2 weeks. It's a really nice phone. Almost zero lag, fluid UI experience and I'm not replacing this for a looooong time. Works well with my work email too.
I got one of these on release and it was my first Blackberry, I am now hooked! I am looking forward to seeing the Blackberry Passport which is out next late Sept/Oct. It brings a bigger screen along with the QWERTY keyboard which also acts as a track pad! Will be interesting to test it out!

I'm at minute 20 now ... one thing to say, not just to you but to (almost) every smartphone reviewer ... these are smartphone, ok ... but you all focus on social apps (which is ok), on camera quality (ok) and video quality (ok too) and specs, of course. But what you (almost) all forget, or leave as last issue, is to talk about the main purpose of these devices: Phoning !!! and the quality of that, the managing of phone calls, etcetera.

This phone looks like it's for professional use only. You know, its like a phone for businessmen. It provides you the things you really need for everyday like browsing, emails, sms, and music. I really like this phone, it's worth the price. Planning of buying this one.

well i guess im getting this than the iphone 5s. messaging is essential for me and blackberry and its amazing keyboard is perfect. really.
Of course the audio recording capabilities are good! It was able to pick up bass and frequencies that I did not think it could!
The Blackberry is not competing with any other company. They are merging their extended years of competent technology with all the others. Why would Blackberry want to compete when they are the creators for the level of business world managers. My experience as a business woman is the flow and functionality, privacy and security operating all of my business entities with each compartmentalized or accessible, (which I love) through their HUB.
This is the most thorough review I've seen! Fantastic job, it REALLY helped me make my decision.
The back is carbon fibre! The strongest lightest material. Its on sport/luxury cars to make it lighter, and its nicer looking.
This is the best phone Ive owned. My dad bought the Z30 but honestly I prefer the q10 for its keyboard

Got pretty mad alright, I found out I was wrong. All I can say is good thing I have the money to buy a new mac because I beat the shit outa the old one over a fact that wasnt even prooven right(Carbon fibre not being strong).

This was probably the best, most clear, comprehensive and entertaining review ever! The Angel of Tech is quite brilliant and honestly, so is the Q10. There is something about BB10 that is very complete and intelligent and much more integrated than Android or IOS.... Maybe the Z30 is for me, but I love my HTC One, except for the phone-messaging-contacts integration is just about the worst thing Android has ever conceived. Thanks! I'm subscribing for life. You should run for president.

Haha, Same here. I guess it would make a good secondary phone. I was planning of buying an iPhone 5s but after I spent 60K (Yes, 60,000 rupees in India) on the Note 4, I'm thinking maybe the BB Q10 might be a good alternative. I mean I just need it to text anyway :P

If I import a phone, I'd have to pay the import duties, transport cost, state VAT, etc etc. which would significantly increase costs. If only I could get it for 35,000 rupees I'd gladly buy two more :(

Have it for 2 years, i like it more than my iphone....I dont have any problem so far, and the keyboard is fantastic....I hate virtual keyboard :)

Yes, are you able to go through a full day with single charge?
No with it wont last a day with a single charge with normal mode. But me personally constantly activate the airplane mode while inside my pocket or in the bag, to me no point letting radio signal on while you dont access ur phone....when I want to check messages I just turn off the airplane mode after that I activate again and so on.....with that strategy battery will last for 12 hours or more.....its not work for people who constantly looking their phone and checking social media etc....but for me its work well and im comfortable with it :)

if developers start caring about blackberry, it would be much much bigger than apple right now. I love the interface of blackberry, just lacks of entertainment applications.
Same with windows phones just dont get how they are so limited on the apps and games side
My company gave us choices when it was time to upgrade phones - bb q10, z10, iphone and bring your own. I chose the Q10 because I can work faster with the physical keyboard. I've been using BB since the old 'blueberry' days. I'm very happy to see this is about 1 key width wider than the BB Bold that I am still using until I port over to the new phone. Scratch that. I'm not happy I'm ecstatic as I have man sized hands and the larger keyboard is awesome. To me BB is the foundation of all smart phones out there. And as others have said - I don't use my phone for games - so from a productivity standpoint - I'll do just fine. Just one thought...I do love Apple and would have loved to get my hands on a iphone....but BB for me!

I recently had a blackberry and I could say, coming from a high school student that the blackberry is very useful especially if your a very unorganized and fast paced person. I mainly used my blackberry to email my teachers assignments I saved on my phone the night before. One word that best describes the blackberry is "productive" I really love the keyboard.
This is going to be my first not budget phone ever. Yeah sure it is a bit old and cheaper but it is also my way to give thanks to blackberry for their 9320. A budget phone that feature holics think it was average but that it had excellent quality. Audio quality,tough design, speaker, very useful browser. I don't dislike android I love my nexus 7 but I really like phones that are good phones first.
I just bought a refurbished one as a backup phone to my Note 3 and I'm shocked to have the first time experience to Blackberry OS is shockingly amazing, It's got no fancy crap but everything I need. It's a shame that Facebook and Whatsapp is going to stop supporting after December 2016.
I'm thinking of going to BB I'm a Samsung note2 user now. Is it hard to use a BB? I love the BB but it looks complicated. I miss the physical keyboard

Dude. Get it! I was using iPhone previously this year April and then i got Q10 afterwards. It's really good and unlike what she said, it's not hot all the time compared to android or iphone. And the battery life last for 1 and half day which is frustrating sometimes since i would prefer it to be just one day. The OS is by far the best OS in my opinion. You never need to open any apps to access to whatsapp, twitter notifications, facebook, email, etc. It's all in the BBHub. BBOS 10.3.1 is coming out end of November which packs tons of good stuffs and UI is good too! Just ask me if you need to find out anything. I would love to tell you how good it is. BUT if you love camera and tons and tons of apps, get iPhone or Android. Iphone is still very good with the camera.

Yash6100 I'm thinking of buying one as well, but I'm a bit worried by the reviews on BB World. I really don't care much for apps except fb, whatsapp and viber, and I've seen many complaints about them on BB 10 OS. Does anyone have some experience?
momcilo82 in my experience, the android /ios counterparts of the apps you mentioned are better and have more features. There are tons of android devices out there that give you much better value for money. that being said, this thing is gorgeous, feel in hand is great and is really cheap on the second hand market
Your really nice review (speedy and in-depth at the same time) in this case will make quite a difference to any potential I imagine! Finally, a nice Bberry with all fns one might want integrated!
Is this phone still worth buying? I'm currently planning to buy Blackberry Z3 but I'm still interested with Q10. My only concern is if Q10 is already considered a bit outdated given that it's already two years old.
It's a worthy phone.. I am using it and as long as you update to os 10.3 you are good. Classic is just a q10 with a keyboard

This definitely makes me want to buy a Blackberry Q10! I don't mind having limited apps, I could just rely on that on my HTC phone. What I like about this phone is that it seems so simplistic without loosing productivity. And the physical keyboard really makes it such a standout. ^_^
BlackBerry Q10 just rocks...
As far as the lack of applications on the Blackberry the phone is marketed as a business phone not to watch netflix and play games. Its just a matter of preference. If you want to play angry birds get an iphone want the most reliable business phone on the market get a Blackberry. Best review of the phone Ive seen yet.
Oh and the battery life is awesome...
I have blackberry bold and have been using it for 3 years now. Really good battery life, comfy and accurate qwerty keyboard, and durable (mine fell 10 times and still working great with no broken screen, scratches whatsoever).

+Abdul Haseeb I've never had that type of issue with the Q10. Never had any issue at all for that matter.
Using it in 2018 I am senior and it works fine for me some things I still am learning.

The reason you will get a very warm battery combined with a reduced battery life is due to the fact that the phone is 4G/LTE and when you are in an area with little or low 4G coverage, then the phone starts "hunting" for 4G signal.

Yours is one of the last reviews I have gotten to watch. You really did an outstanding job! You were more indepth with things like shortcuts. I had owned a BB Tour and the BB Style. Wife still has the Style. Ive had an iphone 4 for 2 years and I am so very ready to get the Q10. I am 100% committed. This is a phone for grown up adults who could care less of having 300 million apps..I do not care. Great job you just sealed the deal for me. Oh by the way my wife is elegible for an upgrade too. Thx

Best Q10 review on You Tube with great insights into so many features and functions for power users.
Coming from android the quality of this phone is Superb ,it looks and feels so nice in ur hands. Also I have been using it for almost 15 days and this phone has not even once shown anything negative or not upto the mark.OS is simple and very smooth and u can multitask so many things on this platform.
So far I'm satisfied with mine. BB's reputation for security also provides peace of mind.

I've been using this blackberry for one year now and I gotta say I still love it! Ofcourse there are some things that don't work as good as they did in the beginning like the focus of the camera is now really bad, when I press on a song it suddenly skips to another song but in overal it's a great phone and if you're worrying about bb not having lots of apps, don't worry instead of blackberryworld you can download snap,mobile1,amazonapps to download almost all the apps that android has I have netflix which works!, skype, kik, tumblr, wattpad, weheartit etc.. And the blackberry 10 OS is great!

Erica. Just to note about your battery, it needs at least 2 to 3 days to be conditioned. It gets better the more you use it, fully draining the battery and recharging it. If your battery is really getting hot, becareful of some of the Android apps you have installed since some aren't optimized and they will drained your battery fast whether you're running them or not.
The battery heat and drain, is only a temporary thing. Keep using it until the device learns how you use it, and then configures itself to work optimumly for how you use your phone. It does take some time for this to fully integrate, but in time the battery will last longer, and it won't get as hot.
My first smartphone was a blackberry, I moved to android but the touch screen is awful for me and I'm considering going back to blackberry… I do not know. Someone told me to get a 5.2" Sony Xperia Z2 but I think it is too huge and I am not sure having a larger screen is more accurate than a physical keyboard.
That is the perfect explanation for Blackberry. I agree with you about the time-wasting opportunities that other platforms present. I, however, cannot stand a physical keyboard on a phone. My fingers are too large to type well. I love touch screen keyboards. They feel so much better TO ME to use.

I will miss my iphone4 its been a great ride. If BB had this BB10 2 years ago I would still have a Blackberry. My wife loves her BB9630. She doesnt know it yet but when Sprint releases it this will be our early Christmas presents! We both will have an awesome Blackberry. Very professional like phone.

Got to say, tested out the keyboard and loved how easy it is to type with the grooved keys. Also the BlackBerry 10 browser is one of the best for displaying HTML5 content.
Blackberry 10.2.1 is being released in January and it includes support to install apk (android) files directly to the phone. The are android store apps also being released by blackberry developers so it will be as easy as ABC.

As soon as she said the battery life isn't good, I thought "well she probably spends all day leaving things open, downloading random games and keeping them open 24/7, not charging phone to full when she first got it and other things." I have a Q5 and when I use it heavily, the battery lasts about 6-8hours and on a moderate day it can go two days easy, it all depends on how you use it. Overall though, good review.
people dont buy this phone to play pirated Harry Potter with two language audio tracks. They dont have time for it.
