Published manuals from the supplier can be confusing.
I hope this helps un-confuse some of the radio's feature and keys.
Midland GXT1000 series radio - video manual for:
    GXT1000
    GXT1030
    GXT1050
GMRS radio with three power levels. 0.5, 1.5 & 2.8 watts ERP.
Uses a (700 mAh) rechargeable battery or four AA batteries.
See the additional video to see how to turn off a privacy tone without resetting the radio.

I totally skipped covering the NOAA weather ALERT function.
    1. Hold the WX key for 5 seconds.
This enters the weather stations and finds the one with
    the strongest signal.
    2. Press the WX button and confirm the station number to monitor.
This step lets you select a station without the scan feature above.
    3. Press the WX button again to get to the "AL oF" screen.
    4. Press the up or down key to select "AL on"
    5. Press the PTT to exit.
A flashing cloud will appear showing that the ALERT feature is active.
    Some helpful time stamps
Belt clip 1:09 - Shows replacement part numbers
Charging choices 1:53 - Shows replacement part numbers
    SOS siren 8:20
    Vibrate when called 10:36
    Dual watch (receive) 11:00
    Power levels 12:30
Reset the radio 13:30 - Hold down the up arrow when you power on the radio.
Use this to turn off the "ct" or "dc" codes that have been set.
Not being able to turn them off is a bug in this radio.
Group mode is not discussed since my sample does not include that feature.
Midland told me that they are bringing this feature back. So if you want this feature make sure what you buy has it.

Late to the party but the video was awesome. Our local Jeep group uses these radios on rides.

Is the GXT1000 a good radio to start with to see if GMRS is a thing I want to pursue?

Can you get a better antenna for longer range? If so, which antenna would you prefer?

Are the low watt channels frs not requiring a license?

  • @donalderickson-si8ww

G M R S is 5 watts on portable and my base is 45 watts and requires a license for that

  • @PerxcyzYt915

How do you add frequency’s to it?
