    Got these radios for an upcoming trip with the lady. Yesterday we each took them to our separate places of work to test the range and somehow were in a setting where we could see the TX or RX indication if the other person was pressing the talk button, but nothing came through (volume maxed).
    Did a factory reset and out both radios on a private channel thanks to your video. Thanks Nate. Subbed.

    Great video explaining so much. I get how privacy mode works, they should have called it, “selective hearing mode”. However I was hoping to see how to set them, I think they need to be side by side to set the code. I bought two sets and I am hoping to set all 4 to the same privacy code. One will go to my mother-in-law who lives 25 miles away. We might need to get her a stronger base unit. We have a bunch of relatives who live about this distance away. I am also trying to get my closest friends to get the Midland XTalkers and test them at various distances. It sounds like Channel 36 might be a good choice since we could isolate to only Midland radios. I have a HAM license and radio but i doubt my relatives and friends would want to cram like I did to get my license which I spent a Saturday doing years ago.

    These radios are pretty popular foreclosed communication in my local area there is a dentist office that uses them where are the dentists in the hygienists and dental assistants can all communicate from one room to the other without having to go search for whoever they want to in some cases that means leaving the patient for a while just to go talk to somebody this way a hygienist can be working on a patient and still be in communication with everyone else.

    I have to give you huge props for this video! I bought these a year ago and have never had time to learn how to use them. Of course, it’s the night before a major weather event in Southern California, hurricane Hillary, and your tutorial brought me up to speed very quickly! I’m super stoked about the weather alert, and I am sharing my set with my neighbor. I am the party with the charging station so I will be getting that weather alert and notifying my neighbor, correct? Or do both of our devices get that alert? Anyhow, thank you so much, you really helped me and have lessened my anxiety about the coming storm.

    You Mentioned 'Monitor and Scan' mode. From what i understand, you said monitor mode is for listening to hear what channels are being use and the radio channels continually scan. The monitor channel you said is for listening to hear who's on? I noticed in the monitor mode the squelch is off (probably to hear far away and faint broadcasts) and my question is related to you saying you CAN'T transmit in the monitor mode; yet I can on the Midland T70. So I am wondering did I totally misunderstand what monitor is? Would you please clarify that? Oh and your video was amazing. I have learned so much. thank you

      You guessed it you can do PMR 446 set it to low to have 0.5watts. But the most on 2watts frs 5watts gmrs. I think PMR 446 is 0.5watts legally.

    • @LeisureTimeLarry
      @LeisureTimeLarry Год назад

      Switching channels will really only help when others are using the channel you are on. Ways to try to get better range/reception are: 1) Upgrade batteries. Ditch the rechargeable pack if it came with it. Using alkaline batteries can help. Better batteries can yield better results, i.e. using Energizer MAX or Lithium batteries, Duracell Power Boost, etc. 2) Hold the radios so the antennas are straight up and down. 3) Line of sight is best. 4) Vehicles tend to cause interference and limit the range to about 1/2 mile. 5) Avoid obstacles as much as possible: buildings, trees, hills, etc. Good luck!

    • @NatsumeKonno
      @NatsumeKonno 11 месяцев назад

      In the US channel 1-7 is 5watts max. 8-14 is 0.5watts. 15-22 is 50watts.
      If you are using a bubble wrap or FRS license free then 2 watts is the most you can get. Keep in mind 7-14 is always 0.5watts.

      You can have YOUR RADIO only turn on when it hears the correct privacy code it is programmed for. If anyone else is monitoring the channel, with No Privacy Code turned on, then they will hear what Everybody is saying. A PL/DCS Code works to Turn On Selected Radios. Try using Low Power first, that is easier. Privacy? You'll need a Cell Phone.

Nothing is private using ordinary two way radios unless you apply for a business license from the FCC. Businesses are allowed to use radios capable of encrypted radio transmissions.

    Radio signal propagation in this frequency range (line of sight), on flat ground with NO obstructions would get about 7 miles radio to radio due to the curvature of the Earth. Throw in obstructions (trees, houses, buildings, cars etc) and the range decreases significantly, and I do mean SIGNIFICANTLY. Mountain top to mountaintop with no obstructions MIGHT get the full distance, but even then, I doubt it. I wish manufacturers would stop using the transmission distance as the barometer for sales. It is misleading to the uninformed consumer, and that is what they are relying on.

    13:50 that's my problem with these radios too many functions and too few buttons you would need the owners manual with you

    Just got a set of Midland T71 radios. I'm happy to see I made a wise buying decision. My question: I asked Midland Support if I could leave my radios in the charger while not in use. Surprisingly, they said No. Do you agree with that recommendation? I enjoyed you in depth instructions for setting up these radios. Thanks.

      Unfortunately, their chargers usually don't have"trickle charging", so they keep pushing power until you pull them.

    1.0 Ok, dude im at 3:00min here and you have repeated yourself as to the differences are watts out and such and you keep saying the same things over and over again here, yet the heading title on this published video says "Instructional Walk Though Radio Programming and use" I see a 28 min rendered content here and at 3 min in I'm still being told that they have colors and same bandwidth in the RX half of the transceiver, as well told that they have different power outputs between the FRS and GMRS which is the case across the spectrum of other manufacturers for the US north American markets, and while that is an expected difference of all hand-held transceivers of this specific arena in consumer transceivers and perhaps this bit of well established information for some individuals out there may not yet possess this commonly held information exactly, that kind of info is not going to elude someone for very long if they are at all buying or looking to buy or just wanting to gain general knowledge of the market and its so with that out of the way I am sure hoping that in the now 25 min remaining that we will get to the actual "operation and programming" part of this instructional video content, and skip or lockout function if available when scanning with the Midland XTalker handheld.
    Here is crossing my fingers in hopes of some actual relevant content directly related to the ZMidland XTalker handheld. hitting play again.
    2.0 OK it talked from one part the front left of the BOAT or Ship, and to the back left was it? I hope that it would work on the right side as well.
    3.0 its all line of sight "no trees" means line of sight.
    4.0 CB radios or 11 meters are not part of the "Instructional Walk Though Radio Programming and use" of the Midland XTalker.
    5.0 Going to low power or high will have zero to do with "hearing the farmer" or not.
    6.0 OH MY GAWD!! I JUST CANT ANY LONGER,
    FOR FUKS SAKE MAN!
