all F R S // G M R S radio will work together there boards in side match that is why regardless what radio you have thay all play in the same park under the F C C rules.
We've been using an inexpensive set of Uniden radios like these for years. Without recharge ability. You would be surprised just how often you find yourself without cel service. These have always done the job. Might be time to upscale to these newer models though. We do have some of the larger Midland as well as a couple of their base sets in the truck and garage. Always liked Midlands equipment.
I called the F C C talked to a guy he filled in the spaces with some answers from me an I otheried the 35 dollar fee and wrote my call sign on the paper he said I was good to go three days later the license showed upm in my mail box five minnets on phone call three days on paper
after getting my radio set up I called the F C C thay asked questions and I answered them thay did the license form on there computer I payed the 35.00 dollars was given my call on the phone and got the paper copy three days later.

FYI - early in the video you said that AA Batteries were required, then mentioned AAA later. I would think the latter would be correct due to the small size which are slightly larger than mine.
So what is the difference between the Midland GXT1050VP4 and the X-Talker other than the GXT1050 is 5 Watts GMRS? Would it not make more sense to buy the 5 watt radio? I am shopping and am confused. I called Midland and the lady I spoke to suggested the GXT1050 for distance. If someone could tell me why the X-Talker would be a better buy, I would appreciate it before I pull the trigger on buying one.
all radios are the same family service 1/2 watt gmrs side is 5 watts on a H t my base is 45 watts but it is used for off road a t v.s and side by sides hope that answer's your question
5 watt is your talk power as where F R S is real short 1 maybe 2 miles as for small transmiter 1 1/2 of a full watt of power only fixed antenna under F C C rules
I am new to the prepping world I bought this but not quite sure of all these codes and everything is so new to me your video has been somewhat helpful but not well enough for a beginner or a newbie
Think of the codes as a phone number on a shared line. If your family wants to ignore others on the line, you set a talk code. Other without a code can hear you, but you can't hear them.
Picked up a pair of these on sale on Amazon. I haven't even attempted to go far out with them. Unless you're in open land, you're not getting anything close to the advertised range. I picked them up for my wife, and myself, just in case anything happens, and we need to stay in contact.
I got a set of Cobra microTalk CXT595s. They say 28 miles range, but that's really only for open water or extremely flat land with nothing blocking a signal. Keep in mind the "privacy" channels are kinda a gimic. Mine has 121 "privacy" codes, but all they do is allow your party to hear one another on that code. Anyone who has the privacy code turned off can hear you if they're using the same channel. I keep mine in my car at all times, mainly for weather and emergency situations. My buddy and I have gotten a couple miles away from eachother and we were still able to communicate. Thanks for sharing, I kind of like these better than my Cobra's for a hunting use. Take care Ben. Thanks for the review.
cobra has a bad habet thay lie a lot yes that radio will do28 miles you need a compurter a patch cord to go from radio to computer down load C D ROM in stall data from C D to radio there are pl tones on the CD you pick your pl tone to tower and your radio will talk to the tower and know your radio will cover three county's like mine does 20 miles off one tower there is a G M R S group on the east coast when thay are on I talk to weight for it CHICAGO ILL yes through a radio tower group.

I just bought the x-talker T78VP4, have you had a chance to check it out yet? Would like to know if i made a good choice. Will be using it in Colorado on our ATVs this summer

but you shair channel's 15 through 22 theses are off repeater channels for G M R S so the radio has F R S and G M R S radio service I hold a federal F C C radio licensee for the G M R S radio service.
Two things 1) If you put the radios on low power you can use them on all FRS channels, 1 - 14. Better yet, get your GMRS license and stay on high power. 2) You should explain the added channels. They are not new frequencies but rather repeats of the original 22 channels with hardwired in DTCSS or DCS squelch privacy codes. Such as channel 23 is actually channel 1 with CTCSS 250.3 preprogrammed. Channel 31 is FRS/GMRS channel 2 with DCS 23 preprogramed. This makes switching channels with your group super easy without making everyone program codes. Larry WA7ZBO/WQYC732

+Living Survival Realistically everyone should at least have a technician's ham license anyway since they are so easy to obtain, inexpensive to maintain once you get one and they open you up to a lot more avenues of communication, especially in an emergency or survival situation.
you need a license for ham so you need a license your talking 20 miles or more twice I talk to Chicago when that link the repeter's and I do it with 45 watts
What happens if you use channel 4 with out a lic do the men in black show up and zap you or nothing at all I dnt get what is the big deal that seems like a joke to me. Is that just a walky talky nerd tryN to make it seem like a big deal or will i get tackled by sakret sarvace? 😂😒 My kids been using them on high 1 are they now on a no fly list ? Helpful vid but plz explain that part seems so silly i mean i gotta cel phone without a license but a walkie talkie i need one wtf
I am amazed at the distance people say they get on there handheld radios. Mine say 37miles, I only get like 100 yards if I am lucky. That's no BS....any tips or ideas please reply. Yes I have it on high. Yes there newer, brand new from dicks. Use them a couple times a year for hunting

I have a set of those FRS radios. We like them and use them every day to communicate. My wife can call me fast with one of those.

I have the T70 version, basically the same but they're three AA batteries in a rechargeable pack that come included with the radios.
I would get extra AA to charge with second chargers for extra innings or over time

all the privacy cods does is not let anyone talk to you thay only hear you so everyone in your group is fine.

you may want to check with there GOVERMENT first you mite be on a channel you are not sapose to be. these are USA primaries under the F C C>
how many hours will it last the battery before you charge it again any idea
Depends on if you're using high power, or low power channels.
there are the same three hours FRS is low power 1through22

They're also water proof
thay are water tight so are mine

Does this require a license to operate in India
These work on 462, and 467mgz, so you most likely need to find license free radios in your area.
this is a USA radio under USA FEDERAL LICENSE and I would say NO NO
these are made in the U.S,A under rules from the F C C will not work overseas

How do you adjust the volume?

turn up or down

why do you need a license for those other channels?
+Michael Lehman just the way it is. same reason you need a license for ham.
+Living Survival Realistically everyone should at least have a technician's ham license anyway since they are so easy to obtain, inexpensive to maintain once you get one and they open you up to a lot more avenues of communication, especially in an emergency or survival situation.
+kuhrd do you still have to learn morse code?
Michael StJohn nah, They got rid of that requirement a long time ago but it is still a good skill to learn eventually when ya have the time to spare.
you need a license for ham so you need a license your talking 20 miles or more

Can't think of a way, personally. Assuming it is off, and/or has a dead battery.
get a rubber tray when you done take out battery's out and put them in the tray and
leave them in the droue if more then three days so thay don't carode the radio

These radios are very weak. Hand held CB's are a better choice.
and there then a fue dump trucks and 18 wheelers yes it is open and no license needed
Buddy your mouth is moving a mile a minute but there's very little inflammation coming out of it. Why don't you try to get rid of all the unnecessary chat. All you needed to do is give us the information and directions of how to us it. Then go into other aspects of the radio. Have a great weekend.
You. Push. The. Button. To. Talk.
You need a licence for higher channels? Nothing in the instructions about that.
No. You're good for every channel. FCC changed the rules in 2017.
