I had a friend from Iceland in college who moved to the US for school- and I’ve never met a more stable and well spoken, smart man. Also politically it sounds like Iceland cares for its people unlike the US. Plus he said each student in Iceland becomes fluent in several languages by the time they graduate Highschool (or at least at the level where they could communicate in that language decently)
10 reasons not to move to Iceland: 1. The housing market is so crowded if one studio apartment is advertised, it gets 400 applications and it is extremely expensive. 2. The healthcare system has collapsed and just getting appointment at doctor is often weeks when it used to be few days. There is so much stress on healthcare workers, they just quit. 3 The police force is also overloaded with subjects and do not seem to care about people when something is stolen. 4. Though it is still safe, it is less safer than before. 5. The food is expensive. 6. The weather is not the best and very often windy and cold. 7. There are already 12.000 or more men in the country than women (3-4%) so the gender difference is not balanced and it is almost only due to immigration. 8. It has become less welcoming and more xenophobic in recent years. 9. During the winter the days become dark very early and sunlight is limited. 10. It is very difficult to become sustainable and try to grow food unless you get yourself a good greenhouse and equipment which is expensive as everything. I can mention many more but i guess Iceland is just a little tribe in the north and if everyone wants to move there it doesn't stay as good as everyone thinks.

For many non-Scandinavians, Scandinavia is treated like a "theme park" (like Disneyland or something), where anyone can go to and live out your fantasies. For some reason, non-Europeans (even many southern Europeans) have this fantasy about what they think it would be like to live in a Scandinavian country. The media has falsely built them up into some kind of a mystical utopian "elvish paradise," where all the people are blond and beautiful, and everyone lives in perfect harmony, with nature and each other. Why don't you have enough ethnic and national pride to try and build up your own people and country instead of trying to appropriate another. You never actually will appropriate it but will, eventually, change it become what you thought you left.
To those of you who think all your problems will be solved by emmigrating to Iceland, think again. Even if you make every effort to integrate, you will never feel completely a part of Icelandic society. It's not because Icelanders are racist or because you didn't try hard to integrate. In European ethnic states, non-natives WILL ALWAYS be considered foriegners. Even your children and grandchildren. This will cause resentment among non native immigrants, especially the 2nd generation, and will feed an inferiority complex that will last for generations. These minority groups will then try to force acceptance by claiming systemic racism and demand government intervention (often financial, racial quotas, etc.). Instead of looking to escape your own native land, then try to change the country you've moved to, why not just make your native land the way you want it to be?
Simply not true. i moved to Iceland 5 years ago and everyone has been incredibly welcoming and friendly. Once people see you've made an effort to learn the language and assimilate into Icelandic culture and ways of life then you're good. Be respectful, it goes a long way.
@@docdoc8556 I have no doubt that has been your experience, but that's only because Iceland hasn't yet been inundated by masses of non-ethnics yet. Single individuals are not seen as a threat, especially when you've made an effort. Just wait. How do I know? Because the exact same thing has alreayd happened in other Scandinavian countries, that were once like Iceland. Also, if you remain in Iceland and have children, they likely won't feel the same. They'll feel as I described above and will always blame "systemic racism" when in reality, it's just a systemic inferiority complex.

@@Leif208 you don't get to tell someone to stay in their continent if they really want to move to a different continent. your comment gave me the ick because i hate living in Asia so much. i don't have plans on moving to Iceland though, i just want to visit soon.
@@joaqueen Why do you hate your own country so much? What makes up a country? It isn't the land. IT'S THE PEOPLE. Asia is the way it is, because of ASIANS. If ASIA isn't a desirable place to live, YOU MADE IT THAT WAY. Iceland, and Europe is the way it is because of Icelanders and Europeans. If an Asian moves away from Asia, he brings Asia to wherever he goes. Where ever you live, IS ASIA. If you don't like ASIA you will turn Europe into ASIA and the kind of place YOU HATE. Why not just make ASIA the way you want it to be? Btw, Europeans don't like Asians living in Europe. We usually don't say it publicly, but we really hate it.
Iceland seems like a beautiful place, and I would love to visit, but I am realistic enough to know that I would not adjust well to living there full-time. I think it’s too hard to adjust to the long winter nights and to the extreme cold (I live in Southern California). I spent 6 long winter months on the east coast, and that was too cold for me, lol. I guess I am a weather pansy.
Iceland is 6 month rain , windy storm 3 month dark snowy 3 month is like European spring April/ may I hate this country a.d I cannot wait to move to Switzerland or Denmark where is civilisation, shoos, other food than Italian and wietnamese and summer
It's fine to live here if you have the chance to go to like southern Spain or some place similar for some weeks during the coldest and darkest months. That's what many Icelanders to. Many of them for example live in The Canary islands for some months over winter. Especially retired people.
People told me Greenland was cold. I walked around in shorts and a t shirt. People told me busan korea cold -15c. I swam all morning in the ocean. People said Alaska was cold, fine trousers and a long sleeve shirt and i was good... So is Iceland really cold or just hype? I want a cold place to relax and breathe in fresh air.
I would absolutely love to live in Iceland. No heat bubble and lots of snow, my favourite season. I guess even if it’s dark 6 months, outside is all white, it brightens up everything…❤❤❤ and it smells so clean.

@@obbobbobb4211 Is it? 37.95% + 24% VAT (on spending) = 61,95% (lowest possible). OFC assuming you eventually spend it all. Straight of the bat, you got 61.95% tax. Then you have super high shadow taxes on Gasoline, travel tax, etc. I'd say the people of Iceland are good bondsmen. Again, I bet if you include (not excluding) All shadow taxes + your income taxes (with VAT) you get about 90% ish tax. I don't know what death taxes (estate tax) is but I'd assume it's high. Here's a few reasons not to move there: Volcanoes. Health care is expensive, they do not have free health care like Europe, you pay for Everything. Food is expensive. Internet service is spotty. Volcanoes. It's freaking cold all the time, even in summer. The sun is out past midnight during summer months, and hardly out at all during the winter. If the freezing 50 mph winds don't kill you, the ocean waves will. Volcanoes. There is only one city, the rest is wide open rural, no trees, And if you're unemployed, you'll be eating a lot of sheeps head, cause chicken is as expensive as filet minon. On one hand, getting laid is easy, as they're into having sex on the first meeting but on the other hand everyone there is related to each other and you have to check your family background before you start breeding. Hello there, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing ever before in life. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name" Will you today genuinely by faith-- receive Jesus into your life for salvation?

@@gger1234 and, it's already beginning to happen in Europe as well.

That image is false and was mostly built up by leftists trying to promote the "socialist ideal," that Scandinavia never was (as well as by people who just like to fantasize about blond women. Why is it that people like blond women so much? I can't figure it out). Why don't you have enough ethnic and national pride to try and build up your own people and country instead of trying to appropriate another. You never actually will appropriate it but will, eventually, change it become what you thought you left.

Being Icelandic.
Do not forget to mention 62% income tax on your income. Then the rest of the tax added up you get about 90% tax.. paradise
lol that's just a lie. it's 37,95% from 370.000 - 1 million kronas. the highest income tax is 46,25% and that is just for everything you earn over 1 million

If you have even the slightest criminal background, even a simple DWI, you ain't living here. If you don't have a good job already lined up, like in thermodynamics, you ain't living here. The national sport is reading.
"If you have even the slightest criminal background, even a simple DWI, you ain't living here. The national sport is reading." How are those reasons to not move there, exactly? Is that bad to you?
