Oh guys u went to my favourite place for Lobster soup 😍 It's so yummy, they serve free black coffee and the price is not bad considering is Reykjavik :) Love this!
I just got back from a trip to Iceland yesterday and found certain things expensive and other things comparable to what I would pay in the US. Lodging was similar, food was pricey but not crazy. Of course it depends where you go. BTW, it was the best vacation ever, I highly recommend it. 👍
I was there in April. I found plenty of restaurants that had what they call “Specials of the day”. Some really good deals, especially at Indian restaurants.
So excited for all the Iceland vlogs! Travelled around the country last summer and it was absolutely amazing. Actually we had the warmest day ever in Iceland back then - 26 degrees and everyone were wearing shorts and t-shirts. We definitely weren't prepared for that kind of weather :P Also, ryebread is pretty much our main food source in Denmark. Like, we have it every single day for lunch. Usually with remoulade and some kind of cold cuts or fish. This video just made me crave it so much, and I'm so happy to be coming back home for a few days next month. Living in Amsterdam, and they have no such thing here.
26 is not the warmest day ever in Iceland. In the capital area maybe, but that's because the western part of Iceland doesnt get so warm. Maybe it was the hottest day this summer in Iceland. We had days here this summer with 26-29 °C in the north and east region. The record in Iceland is 31°C.
10-11 is one of the most expensive grocery stores here, I don't shop there unless everything else is closed and I have to get something that can't wait till the next day.
Going to Iceland next month and I could have done with you spending more time in the grocery store showing me products and prices. I find that interesting. Thanks for the video!
I hope you guys went to the svarta kaffid for their famous mushroom soup! It has to be the most instagramable soup ever. Cool vid and way to explain how EXPENSIVE Iceland is
you have to! It is another planet! We want to go back in winter again and get lucky with the northern lights and also in the summer....it's just so expensive
That was the only place where the soup wasn't watery but it was still a rip off. Only a few spoonfuls of soup in the bread bowl and you have to beg for a refill like Oliver Twist.
I knew Icelabd is expensive,,, but the foods I ‘ve tried are all super delicious,,,, and also the tap water is yum yum… thank’s for sharing this video, it’s really awesome. Best regards to you both.
we in Estonia have also quite sweet kinds of dark bread and we make a kind of mousse or soup out of it, it can consist also different dried fruits and we eat it with icecream or sourcream
not necessarily.. plummers are very high in demand around here and they still don't earn more than the usual person in germany for example.. electricity and water though is much cheaper
Average wage in Iceland is equivalent to $5,600 U.S. monthly. taxes are about 28% to 34% but you get education, health care, vacation and child care.. I pay 28% in the US and I make less than 1/2 of that average a month.
A great food vlog about Iceland and looks like you both had a good time. The lobster soup is not unique to Iceland. The French do it also and they call it Lobster Bisque. It’s the same as what you both had, a creamy, tomato soup with lobster broth (stock) and if you are lucky some lobster chunks. I’m from Scotland and I had a nice lobster bisque from a seafood bar in North Berwick harbour near Edinburgh. It was expensive at £6 a portion with a roll and butter. You can buy cans of lobster bisque in supermarkets across the UK but not as good as homemade. I loved the fish kebab. Haddock is also a popular fish in Scotland, it is more cod they eat in England. The fish and chips looked amazing too but quite a thin piece of cod you both had. Coffee at 7 aus$ is expensive and sometimes you can pay that for a latte or cappuccino in coffee shops in the UK. I had a cafe creme at train station in France and it was 4 euros - a smaller coffee than what you both had and gave the waitress a euro tip. The coffee is expensive in Iceland but coffee is also expensive in France and some places in the UK.
Actually remoulade is a sauce by itself, its kinda similar to tartar sauce but not quite it has alot more different things in it, we eat it on everything in denmark also :)

Great video, thank you! The pricing sounds about right by US standards where I live. If guys love seafood, you have got to to come to New England, if you haven’t already. Any of the major seaside cities, Bar Harbor, Booth Bay Harbor, Kennebunkport and Portland in Maine. Portsmouth, NH, and, my favorite, Boston, MA where are accent is similar to yours... Pahk your cah in the Hahvaad yahd.... lol. There’s also Cape Cod and the Islands of course. Then you have Newport and Jamestown in Rhode Island, Mystic and New Haven in Connecticut. There are so many more awesome spots, but I would be here all night listing them! Lobster soup, is lobster bisque here, also fish and clam chowder ( chowdah) is amazing, super thick and creamy goodness, ike nowhere else. Fish and chips? We’ve got those too, only our remoulade is called tartar ( tah-tah ) sauce, with ketchup or even salt and vinegar for the chips. Did I mention oysters....so good and fresh! Well, I hope you both are having a blast, I’d love to know if you’ve been or are planning to visit the US!

Ive been to iceland around march this year, roughly around the time the volcano started erupting. During that time a lot of shops were closed, as it was easter weekend, which wasnt an issue at the time, as it was more of an exploration holiday, rather than one dedicated to trying the local cuisine. after seeing this video I kinda regret not trying harder to get food at more local shops though! Seeing some of the colorful houses in this video brought back some cool memories from exploring the city center again!

Yes you are making us hungry eating that hefty looking fish skewer 🤤 Cool video guys!! 👌🏻
I was there in April. I found plenty of restaurants that had what they call “Specials of the day”. Some really good deals, especially at Indian restaurants.
Yee its all about finding the offers and deals
So excited for all the Iceland vlogs! Travelled around the country last summer and it was absolutely amazing. Actually we had the warmest day ever in Iceland back then - 26 degrees and everyone were wearing shorts and t-shirts. We definitely weren't prepared for that kind of weather :P
Also, ryebread is pretty much our main food source in Denmark. Like, we have it every single day for lunch. Usually with remoulade and some kind of cold cuts or fish. This video just made me crave it so much, and I'm so happy to be coming back home for a few days next month. Living in Amsterdam, and they have no such thing here.
haha yes we got to 27 I think .. but it only lasted 1 hour!!!
Islandsk rugbrød er ikke det samme som i Danmark, det smage som kage og er blødt eftersom der er rigeligt med sukker i.
10-11 is one of the most expensive grocery stores here, I don't shop there unless everything else is closed and I have to get something that can't wait till the next day.
I just cannot stop listening to Jess say "its a whole christmas store" at 5:12. So adorable XD
Going to Iceland next month and I could have done with you spending more time in the grocery store showing me products and prices. I find that interesting. Thanks for the video!
It’s weird after being to Iceland and then watching videos about Iceland, you literally see all the places you were. Especially Reykjavik.
I hope you guys went to the svarta kaffid for their famous mushroom soup! It has to be the most instagramable soup ever. Cool vid and way to explain how EXPENSIVE Iceland is
Oh noooo we didn't go there!! Will put it in our list for next time :) We really want to come back in the winter :)
you have to! It is another planet! We want to go back in winter again and get lucky with the northern lights and also in the summer....it's just so expensive
That was the only place where the soup wasn't watery but it was still a rip off. Only a few spoonfuls of soup in the bread bowl and you have to beg for a refill like Oliver Twist.
yeah but compared to how expensive everything else is at least the soup was a bit cheaper if you can say that
I know this is from 2 years ago, but you should def visit The Soup Company in vik, great soup and amazing people there. also free refills :)
Great video to show the foods thank you, I go to Iceland on Friday for the first time very excited to try all different foods.
I knew Icelabd is expensive,,, but the foods I ‘ve tried are all super delicious,,,, and also the tap water is yum yum… thank’s for sharing this video, it’s really awesome. Best regards to you both.
My dream land, someday baby I might spend my retirement there.. WE LOVE ICELAND
Hope you make it to Iceland, Kevin!
officially hungry after watching this ! love it guys
Remoulade, anywhere in Europe!😄
Thank You Guys! That was so much fun!
Thanks to your video I've tried all foods you recommended when I was in Rejkyavic 2 weeks ago. :) Thanks for inspiring other travelers ;) ...cheers!
we in Estonia have also quite sweet kinds of dark bread and we make a kind of mousse or soup out of it, it can consist also different dried fruits and we eat it with icecream or sourcream
I’m Icelandic and in reikjavík is so good food and I get it many times
Definitely hungry!! Everything looked so tasty!
The rye bread at Cafe Loki was to die for...I would travel back to Iceland for one slice of their bread.
You two have amazing attitudes about trying new things and being adventurous.
Expensive but Iceland wages is very high, highest in Europe I read :)
I think Switzerland and Norway have higher
not necessarily.. plummers are very high in demand around here and they still don't earn more than the usual person in germany for example.. electricity and water though is much cheaper
Average wage in Iceland is equivalent to $5,600 U.S. monthly. taxes are about 28% to 34% but you get education, health care, vacation and child care.. I pay 28% in the US and I make less than 1/2 of that average a month.
Well Switzerland and the nordics have the highest. And I do believe Norway has the highest but it is very close.
Man I wish I can get a job there... Santa wanted to go to north pole I want to go to Iceland man..
Don't know where you are getting a $3 coffee in Australia, even back in 2018.
7/11 or Nightowl? XD
Salvation Army
My new favorite travel vloggers. Better than others ❤
I love you guys, thanks for the video. Me and my wife are going in June, we cannot wait and seeing this makes us more pumped to get there. Cheers ❤️
We call the pickled mayo Tarter Sauce in the states.
Ah that's what it was... same in uk
Same in Ireland
I think what they got is similar to tarter sauce, but instead of lemon juice it had tumeric in it instead.
Actually remoulade is a sauce by itself, its kinda similar to tartar sauce but not quite it has alot more different things in it, we eat it on everything in denmark also :)
Skyr yogurt is so good, and all those fish dishes looked amazing!
Is it yogurt or whipped seal fat?
@@bill4639 definately not seal fat. Its similar to yogurt.
Food tour love it !
There's so much tasty food here in Iceland!
🎉🎉🎉 👍👍👍
You make by far the best video I hv ever scene on RUclips..
Beautiful color & cam angle, ❤ it..
Wish I could make videos like these someday.. 😊
Hello, thank you for uploading this video, going to be there in 3 weeks and this video is very cool
1:38 Proud about australian coffee, never heard that
American here. Living back in the US makes me want to crawl over shards of glass just to have a good Australian coffee. Sure, we have overpriced hipster coffee shops and coffee machines here, but...it just isn't the same as having a flat white in Brisbane.
You guys are growing so quickly!!!
I know!! Still can't believe it 🐵
Flying The Nest you guys totally deserve it too!!! amazing videos!!
Fun fact: "appelsin" is the Icelandic/Norwegian word for "orange" as in the fruit.
They are to old to grow now they will stay this short.
i hope you're saying this sarcastically hahahhaa
Ohhh Now I miss my Iceland! :(❤️ Hope you had an amazing time!❤️❤️❤️
Hello, how are you? I want to get to know a girl from Iceland with the intention of getting married. I am a Syrian refugee. I live in Lebanon. I am a man and my body is strong
@@nasernaser6883 dafuq 😆
@@nasernaser6883 then find another syrian refugee girl.... 🤷♂️
@@nasernaser6883 Thanks for the laugh! Hahaha!
Sama 🥺
It was so nice to meet you in First-Grindelwald! We are very excited to head to Iceland next, thank you for your awesome videos! Safe journeys as you travel to Italy and beyond.
This was one of the videos I saw before I went to Iceland for Christmas 2018, such happy memories!
It was endearing when you guys called the tartar sauce “pickled mayonnaise” 🤣 I was giggling
It was not a "tatar Sauce", it is "Remulade", a danish invention,,, basically a mayonaise with pickeled cucumber kapers etc. and a dash of mustard.
@@realitymatters8720 Tartar sauce and Remoulade are extremely similar
Both sound good to me for fish and chips.
@@realitymatters8720 The premise is there. Quit trying to reach. Tartar sauce just happens to be mayonaise with pickled Cucumber (called pickles).
Not tartar sauce. Remoulade...its a little different
So how expensive was the food? You mentioned the cost of the coffee, but.. I truly enjoyed this video! You two are so cute! I loved how you filmed this too! I felt as if I was with you!

@@nasernaser6883 who would marry a man that treats women like crap?lol go back fight for your country COWARD!
The fish is just called “Haddock” with no “fish” at the end 😃 We eat it a lot in the UK.
No the fish is Icelandic Cod, like u use to eat before the cod wars.
Wonderful video. Thanks for the insights! I enjoyed seeing the prices of items at the store.
I really enjoyed watching this!
Great video! I went to Iceland last May and absolutely loved it! Cafe Loki was one of my first stops in Reykjavik and I tried that rotten shark before the rye bread ice cream 😆😂 Maybe not the best decision, but when in Iceland you gotta do as the Icelandics do! 😂 Keep up the great content!
Taking my family there in 2 months. Good video.
We loved your show so much that we got fish and chips for lunch with tarter sauce - that's what we call the pickled mayo here in the states. Thank for the lovely show.
