nice video, im studying energy engineering and i wanna focus in wind/hydro but im interested in geothermal, hopefully i can get a job in the energy industry in iceland
Hi Petr, Thanks for your informative videos. I'm curious how long it took you to learn Icelandic. Ps Iceland and Japan are two of my favorite countries and I'm fortunate to have traveled there.
600 E of savings is not worth the effort unless you love Iceland :-) Many EU East European students (and not only) would like to work some 3 months during the summer...however...with around 1000 E the cost of travel + some 500 just to get settled somewhere...do the math. And I was told by some friends of mine that the cost of food is just shocking.
I have mentioned 600€ just to not give high hopes, but that’s like the absolute minimum if you don’t care about anything and just spend your money. A lot of people come to work for summer and they don’t complain and always come back, so I guess they’re saving enough. :)
Díky za video, bylo velmi zajímavé a plné informací. Bohužel všechny tyto práce jsou pro mě úplně divné! Myslím, že bych měl na Island přijet pouze jako turista
Good afternoon , Peter How is it going? I am intending to visit to Iceland , I can say that I know well about farming as I was grown up in a Farmers family , I was able to acquire butchering skills . How Can I contact you? .
Bro i am from india. I want to study journalism in iceland. I jave done my batchelor degree in English literature. Do students get any scholarahips and job placements over there. Can you make a video for students who want to study there. I like the way you talk genuinely about things.
Honestly, I don’t think journalism is a good career to pursue in Iceland. There is nothing to report on, news are usually “It was raining a lot yesterday” or “A car got stuck in snow”. I don’t know anything about studying in Iceland, maybe they have good schools but I really don’t know.
@@PetrHerold Thanks bro for your reply. If the colleges in iceland can give placements to various international media it would have been a blessing for students like us.

Thanks for the useful information. But If it's possible please share any recruitment agency for restaurant. And what is the work visa process. Is it possible or what are the chances to get a job if i come on tourist visa.
Hey Pawan, there isnt really any agency for that, I know only the one I shared. Other jobs you have to find on your own. It’s also not possible to work without visa, or at least it’s illegal. And as I mentioned in the video I dont have experience with the visa process :/
HI Petr, I know that's a pretty tough question. I am from Bulgaria (EU member) and I am planning to move to Iceland this winter. I am an IT specialist and I do believe that at some point I'd manage to find such a job there. My question is - approximately how much money will I need to survive the first two months or so without having a job? Like 6-7k E? Or maybe more? Also, can you get kennitala without having a job? Can you apply for it on arrival? And is it common to stay in AirBnb apartment until you get kennitala? Thanks in advance.
Hmm, let's see. I think you'll need at least 100k ISK for a room, more if you want an apartment for yourself (I don't how much are monthly airbnbs). Let's say at least 50k for food. Depending if you want to rent a car or buy a car - probably better option if you want to stay long term, but let's say monthly rent of a car 70k. So that's 1600€ right there per month plus whatever extra you might spend. Let's round it up to 2000€ just in case. If you want kennitala but don't have a job yet with employer who can vouch for you and your income, you need to "demonstrate capacity for financial support" for at least 3 months. The monthly minimum is 217.799 ISK so you need to prove you have at least 653.397 ISK (4650 €).
