    Exactly the video I wanted to see. Since I got out of the freshwater hobby, I've had a gla setup just sitting around collecting dust for over a year. I've read on certain websites not to use the regulators that include the bubble counter which didnt make sense if its quality. Now it all seems like a gimmick just to buy their products instead. Think I found a reason to use it again. Thanks alot!

      I would say most people have never used a quality mechanical regulator, just the cheap ones that will not hold a bubble count. But for the price of a carbon doser, you can get a really nice regulator that will outlast any electric one. That GLA is rock steady

    Nice CalRx comparison and good hearing your personal experience with each!

    Enjoyed the vid! So why didn't you upgrade to a larger AquaMaxx Ca reactor instead of the more expensive Geo's Reef reactor? Are the AquaMaxx reactors worth buying? I ask because while I like the price of the AquaMaxx, I've seen some hit and miss reviews on them. Should I just save up the extra $$ and get the Geo's??? Thx.

      I love aquamaxx skimmers, have 3. It was really close, but I found a good price on the geo although still more. My experience is that both of my calcium reactors had little hurdles to work out, but once set up were fine. Geo is plenty big, media lasts 4moths to 1/2 empty. But if it ever breaks I will most likely replace with the aquamaxx. The geo hasn't been perfect, so I'll go with the $$$ savings with aquamaxx.

    Loved the video man. All great info as I am switching to a calcium reactor. What model is that Avast reactor?

    Great video and perfect timing. I'm switching my reef over to Calcium Ractor after using AquaForest for 2 years. I've been using Comp 1 2 3 and I think I'll supplement the CaRx with A B C just like you've been doing. Just waiting on my Kamoer and Carbon doser regulator and I'll be up and running. Thanks again.

      I pick aquaforest because it had a plan for calcium reactors ABC. Love it. Will do a video on it sometime soon I guess. I use the whole method with my own tweaks but maintaing the plan. Good luck. You'll love it.

      I use aquaforest. I also like the zoevit ones. I believe acropower is good. I think it is easy to make a decent amino, so major brands should be fine

    is your GEO pump making noise when you run? main seems like it's not cycling water, i put the water all the way up the pump is not cycling

      Mine was a pain to figure out, now good. Call Geo, quickly fixed. My fix was: inlet to pipe, outflow from lid. But he fixed me up quickly, wish I would have called sooner

    Nice video . I just hooked up a geos also to my 300 gallon. What do you do when you get bubbles in the chamber. I bled it out but then once i introduce co2 it started looking like a skimmer

      Yeah, having the same problem. Haven't found a video on the solution. I've re sealed all the joints and using course media, dropped on to 6.5 and slowed effluent, seems to help but not fully yet. May call geo soon. Will def put up a review video with what happened

    Id run one if I ever stumbled on it for cheap on ebay or something, but the return on investment takes so long to pay off its just not worth it to me to go all in up front.

    • @danosnanos1817
      @danosnanos1817  4 года назад

      Your right. The upfront cost hurts. The thing that keeps me liking it is the 6 mth maintenance cycle. I've considered aquaforest 3 part for my new build, it might only add an hour to my monthly maintenance. But I love the CA reactor, will always run as long as I can afford it up front

    Hey, can the nano be ran in conjunction with the avast mr5 media reactor as a second chamber?

    • @danosnanos1817
      @danosnanos1817  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, any calcium reactor can. Just plug in to the normal effluent line. I did have to replace the fittings on the media reactor to RO line quick connect from home depot

    Need help, my alk is 10.6 my cal is 526 not sure what to do to make the alk and cal perfect

    • @danosnanos1817
      @danosnanos1817  4 года назад

      Don't panic. "Perfect" is chasing numbers. Those numbers are good. It's a big range. Alk 7-12. Cal 400-550. To adjust know and test your salt mix. 20% weekly water changes for about a month will bring it closer to the salt you pick. Just do things slow, especially alk changes. Keep testing your water and looking at your coral. I just adjust my alkalinity and let the calcium fall wherever it may. Mine runs alk 7.8-9.5, cal 480-540.

      @@danosnanos1817 i do water change 20gal every 2 weeks, should i start changing water every week, till I see dropping alk 8.5 cal 450?, what about the cal reactor, i just don't want the water to go bad inside of the reactor if i don't run it.

    • @danosnanos1817
      @danosnanos1817  4 года назад

      @@alexandravivaldi9993 yes water changes until alk can't stay above 7 for me. Calcium reactor would be good for when you get 5-20x more coral in the tank, so keep testing and keep buying coral;)
