    How Will the Algae Scrubber help balance my PH while using this Calcium Reactor? We shall Find out.. Exciting times ahead for the 120g reef! Thanks for watching everyone!

    good thing thing about having a ph monitor or controller is the quick response to shifts in levels while saving your media from melt down. still thinking about adding one. to the other tank

    I am super interested in how this goes, thanks for the intro CJ. I'll be 👀 with close attention. 😬

    Will be good to see how you set this up. Would be a lot more cost effective in the long run.

    I'm not gonna lie CJ... I'm friggin terrified to run a calc reactor on my upcoming build... pressurize cylinder surrounded by over 240 gallons of water...... could be exciting I guess

    Niceee CJ I'm glad I made the move too it's wasn't hard to dial in either. But when I first got it I just had to play around with it to truly understand how it works. Well worth it 👍🏾👍🏾

    Thanks for the vid CJ. I'm shopping for a new reactor and checking out this Aquamaxx. Think I'm going after the T2 but same thing. You're gonna love your reactor if you haven't figured that out yet. You might start saving your pocket change for a new regulator though. When the time comes that you're ready to throw your regulator and it's crappy little needle valve against the wall, check into the CarbonDoser electronic regulator. It's def the phat daddy rabbit of Co2 regulators.

    I might buy this tomorrow. Do you have an update on this reactor? would you recommend it

    good luck bro! i went from a reactor to the dosing pump set up. one of the things i like about the dosing is it's easier to keep track of consumption and adjustments on the fly. make sure to have a good feed pump, the effulat likes to build up calcium if you drip it, i kept mine with a small stream and adjusted bubbles to that. drip it to the scrubber so that it uses excess C02 to help grow the algae. it was fun, just bit more hands on vs punching a number and spreading it to the hours you want.

    CJ, what do you think the diameter is on the bottom base of that reactor. Just trying to see if it will fit where I want to put it.

    CJ....I just jumped out of my chair!
    your tank is Sick. I love the equipment.
    I have a hole house water softener system. I lowers my alk/ph to dangerous levels. I had A alkalinity of 90 ppm. (Hanna tester)
    do you think a reactors would help Me? wirh 2 part I use 3 times the alkalinity as calcium. Just to keep the dkh at 8
    Thanks for the help

    • @CJSAQUARIUMS
      @CJSAQUARIUMS  7 лет назад

      abreezeducttesting yea it would help maintain your levels but I'm still not sure how water softener even bothers your tank? Rodi unit would cancel out any softener and adding salt would give the parameters your looking for...

  • @robertscott667
    @robertscott667 7 лет назад +3

    CJ.. I'm a little different. I've been using a calcium reactor for years and have never monitored the ph in the reactor. I monitor the dkh of the tank and adjust the reactor from that. Once I get it dialed in I don't have to mess with it. Every once in a while I check the dkh out or the reactor...you want that to be over 30. This is an alternative to using the ph inside the reactor, especially if you use a controller to open and close the CO2 solenoid valve based on ph. The ultimate goal is you parameters of the tank...not the ph in the reactor.

    • @CJSAQUARIUMS
      @CJSAQUARIUMS  7 лет назад

      Robert Scott thanks for the feedback... I'd agree with the tank parameters being what matters. For me monitoring & controlling the ph inside of the reactor will serve as a safety net ... I'm sure once I get use to dialing it in I can approach it the same as u seasoned calcium reactor folks on the hobby..

      Robert Scott, when you run your CR without PH probe is your CO2 remaining on 24/7?

    CA reactors rock! and so does Marnie Depot. I highly recommend controlling the PH inside the reactor. I have the Milwaukie controller and it does a nice job controlling PH. The down side is after a few years the power button broke and the only way to turn it off and on is to unplug it. I guess I'm lucky it failed in the on position. An Apex would be awesome on your tank.

    Looks like they've redesigned the Aquamaxx reactors since the last time I used one. I'll be interested in seeing how you make out with the "flow control knob" for you effluent drip. For me that's always been the achilles heel of these setups, not having a stable drip rate. Great vid, I look forward to seeing the install!

    Wait before I start watching this whole video I thought you said you were gonna go all natural no additives or anything to the tank LOL

    • @CJSAQUARIUMS
      @CJSAQUARIUMS  7 лет назад +2

      Rafael Hernandez this is natural as u can get... melting old corals to feed new ones.. only other option would be continuous water changes... can't avoid consumption in a reef tank ✊🏾

    Nice pick up! Don't forget though a calcium reactor doesn't supplement everything. You will still need to dose things that are in tissue, like potassium and iron.
