I also have the JBJ 45 I’m new to reefing. Your videos have been very very helpful I’ve been thinking about a calcium reactor for a while now and you have definitely explained it to where I understand it a lot more thank you! Again some people say I’m nuts to put a calcium reactor on a 45 gallon tank but I love the simplicity and after the initial costs it’s very inexpensive For the media per year! Plus any tank I’ve seen with the calcium reactor is just stunning!
Your videos are always informative. I'm looking into calcium reactors myself. It's a large perchance but definitely worth the expense in the long run. Noel
This info is much appreciated. It makes the idea of a installing a reactor on my big display a lot less daunting. Now to start buying some of these parts. $$$$
The second chamber usually is used to increase the ph back(lower the co2 content in coming from the main reactor) so using aragonite is the best thing for that purpose.
The check valve job is to protect the co regular. Smart move going that route. A simple way to tune the calcium reactor is to only adjust the ph. Start high say like 7.2 and go low as your needs
Hey did you have to change the fittings for the media reactor I also have a push on fittings on my calcium reactor and was thinking of setting up a second chamber to try to drive out the co2 before dosing.
I'm always at the end buddy. I'll check on the valve when I get back to the tank. But I'm pretty sure your correct. The valve stops water from entering into the regulator. I assume this is possible when the gas runs out. I have a electronic regulator so I swap it out when its low to avoid that ever happening.
You are correct on the check valve. It should be installed after counter so when you run out of co2 or simply solenoid turn off , water won't flood your co2 tank and regulator. Without it you could damage your regulator (worse case scenario) or make it work bad (in terms of dosing co2). Hope that makes sense (english not my native) :) Have fun .
Thanks for the very informative video Can you use a few different colors on the water line so us inexperienced reefers can get a better understanding for the setup
The check valve stops water backing up the CO2 line... It should be fitted near the reactor on the CO2 line just before the reactor CO2 inlet. .. In my experience the second chamber increase the overall PH, but it does not stop the swings.
Why add the extra step of crushing the media? Does it say to crush in the instructions? I think that the reactor/media developers have all done the research and sell us what is needed to make this work. Just saying, great video though.
Pedantically if you remove the 10% before you add your remag then you have 11% not 10% of remag to the total volume of reborn - your supposed to add the 10% to the 100% - not that it matters !🤣
Mark Mckinnell it’s a great series of videos and very informative but that part made me cringe. Volume and weight are two methods of measurement that shouldn’t be confused for one another. 🤦♂️
It is very hard to find GOOD nano CALRX there isn’t reallly such a thing as over size. The only thing is where this may last the average 100g tank one year it will last me 2 befor I have to replace media 😊🤙🏼
Never quite understood the exact way calciumreactors work. Now I do. Superb explaining!

Good series on calcium reactors. Your videos cost me $$$...lol. Ordered a reactor after watching your vids. Thanks
🤣🤙🏼
Love this detailed vids! Thank you!!

Thanks!! Yea totally agree. You will make the money up in not killing coral and fragging

Take your time to piece it together. I did it over 3-4 months.
EAT SLEEP Reef that’s the plan, the tank has to grow out some more before it’s really needed anyway.
Great walk through
Watched till the end ;) Great stuff

Polyp Lab reactor? Where can I get this one?
Here till the end, another informative, well put together explanation on Calcium Reactors.
Thanks, appreciate it
What calcium reactor is that? Kind of looks like my Aquamaxx, also the AquaMaxx had me set it up as pushing water not pulling is that ok?
Yes check value prevents water from entering the tank when it's out of CO2 via siphon.
Great video and yes I watched it until the end.

What calcium reactor is that? Cannot find it on the net.
If I use my apex for the ph probe, how would I hook up the solenoid to it? So it shuts off if needed
The solenoid has a power plug, that power plug would go into an apex socket so it can be shut on and off.
does the Alk go down when the media is half/3/4 gone from chamber? do you top up media regular or its ok to let media go right down before topping up!
It won’t go down till it runs out. And that will take a year if not more
World wide corals tops off when the media is half gone from the chamber once. Atthe second time, they clean it out and replace with all new media
Hey did you have to change the fittings for the media reactor I also have a push on fittings on my calcium reactor and was thinking of setting up a second chamber to try to drive out the co2 before dosing.
Or could you tell me the model you have in your video ?
Yes is did change fittings. Avast marine has them ready to go. Let them know I sent you and they can get you the same exact setup.
@@eatsleepreef9565 Thank you !!
Man i really lke your videos...

Love the support man. Ya everyone is saying that is the right way as far as check valve
Thanks for the videos and podcast 👍🏻. I must have missed it in the first video, what calcium reactor is this and where did you get it? Thanks
No worries 😉 it’s a modified T1 a good brand I would recommend is vertex or geo Reactor
Top vid many thanks 🙏 can I ask how much this set up would roughly cost please (to the end ) 👍😀🏴

Thanks very much. Which brand check valve you recommend?
@@eatsleepreef9565 Check valve is very simple device. I would use what I got on hand :)
Puedo hacete algunas preguntas en espanol?
@@oscarcamacho5215 Lo siento, no hablo español.
Thanks for the very informative video
Can you use a few different colors on the water line so us inexperienced reefers can get a better understanding for the setup
I will do that for the install video :)!
Hi, I was wandering if you would like to review macroalgae bulb. I could send you one if you want
Yes it dus not back flow back in the the bubbel count with the check valve installed
The check valve stops water backing up the CO2 line... It should be fitted near the reactor on the CO2 line just before the reactor CO2 inlet. .. In my experience the second chamber increase the overall PH, but it does not stop the swings.
que productos usabas antes del reactor??
Victor jaime Valladares dosing pump
@@yuyiboy
I mean brands, liquids or powders
Where is the follow video where you put it all together??
I imagine by increasing surface area when you broke up the media it will help!
I thought so :)
the only thing you miss is the line coming from your tank what kinda pump to feet the calcium reactor
He covered that in Part I. He's using the Kamoer peristaltic pump.
@@drewschneider1935 haha you right I was confused before now understand after I setup my reactor too thanks

To add to it, the other media manufacturers with smaller media actual provides less effluent at the same pH and flow
You want the check valve from the bubble counter to the calcium reactor
Thanks :)
Cost of cal reactor setup?
Less than $1000
Just use Kalk in RODI water in ATO to keep PH up...
That works too
Pedantically if you remove the 10% before you add your remag then you have 11% not 10% of remag to the total volume of reborn - your supposed to add the 10% to the 100% - not that it matters !🤣

doesnt matter , and you are affecting your circulation so bottom line woking against yourself
