- In this video, I explain how I make my own 3D backgrounds for my WEBTOON. They are made in Blender, which is a free, open-source software. I show the entire process, which can hopefully aid you in making your own 3D backgrounds for whatever project you're working on!

another pro of 3d is that by letting a machine do the technical part, we can focus on how the shot, lighting, colours, etc which really should be the main part of being an artist
Exactly, very good point!
i had the archimesh addon for all the meshes but had no clue it had all these features?!! 👀 this is a gamechanger fr
Glad I could help you discover something new!
I think a good way to not worry too much on stylistic consistency is by making the 3D model with pretty simple textures and using it as a guide instead of bringing it in straight. You can drag and drop but I feel it can end up looking a bit uncanny unless it's a full 3D comic or if the model is especially tailored. It takes a fair bit longer to draw over the model but the heavy lifting of perspective and continuity is already done by that point. Still a great workflow for speedy production tho
Absolutely! Drawing it completely by hand is by far the best option but when making comics it just gets too tedious in my opinion (mostly because I dislike making backgrounds in general haha). Thanks for watching!
i'll sub This voice got me addicted
Haha thanks!
Laugh all you want... but I used to use The Sims 3 to make the houses of the characters in order to be constant and choose the right angles for the panels.
Sadly that project was abandoned but someday I'll start over
I've tried that with the Sims 4! It's essentially the same idea as with Blender, but I find it's just a lot faster to change things in Blender when I need a background as compared to opening up the Sims every time
really need to learn this for a comic i've been thinking about making which has an entire mansion... i will draw on top but having the base to trace and simply color and shade will be super helfpful
Yeah, I highly recommend it, it's a huuuge time-saver! Best of luck to you with the comic 😄
Really helpful, thanks a lot my friend 🔥💪
You're very welcome!
Nice! I've been wanting to get into learning Blender forever. This video was very helpful, thank you!!
I'm glad it was useful. Good luck! 😄
THANK YOU! I'm trying to make a webtoon but I've only had a phone for my whole life and I now finally own a laptop so it can be done! I might get a drawing tablet next!
@@Jojo-bu1qr You're very welcome 😄 Good luck with your webtoon!
@@wogglawooh thanks! You too
Really cool setup!
Thanks!
I had no idea blender had an add on like that, so useful
Ikr! Blender has tons of interesting add-ons if you look closely
Omg this is so helpful! Thank you!!🫶
You're very welcome! I'm glad you found it useful 😄
I'm neither a webtoon creator nor a comic artist but I still enjoyed the video :)
Thanks, glad to hear it!
I'm glad you mentioned laziness because that's pretty much the only reason. At that point why even draw comics? Next thing you know there will be a software that does lighting, shading, color, and perspective. Oh wait....
Not sure if you're trying to compare making custom 3D models to using AI? Because that's absolutely not the same thing lol. 3D models save me time on the part I like the least about making comics, but it doesn't do the work for me. I spent days making those background models that I then have to pose and light properly for each panel. Anyone who uses AI to make comics can go jump out a window for all I care because they're using real artists' stolen work, which obviously is not okay
3d custom background is a tool. Not like AI
It helps artists to focus more on drawing characters than stressing out about the background. Plus it helps the character feel more immersive if the background don't feel consistent.
Thank you for sharing these tips!! Your art and backgrounds look amazing! I'm definitely gonna give Archimesh a try :)
I ran into the same "colours too dark" issue as you when trying to import models from Blender to Clip Studio. The issue goes away if you update the material's Color Space from sRGB (the default) to another option like Linear. Still, it sounds like rendering the backgrounds in Blender has more advantages anyway ^_^
Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you found the video useful! I'll definitely try changing the color space to see if it works for me, that's a very useful tip. Thanks! ❤
MY GOD UR A LIFE SAVIOUUUR THANK UUU
You're very welcome! :D
ngl when i cant find a specifc model i make it in the sims 💀
I was planning on doing that for a project of mine, but it just took too long to boot up the sims every time I needed a background 😔
Keep it up ❤
Thank you, I will! ❤️
Is gold❤ like and subscribed
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Just liked and subbed you're hilarious 😂
Thanks, glad you enjoy my humor! 😆
GIRL, MA GIRL, THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU
You're very welcome!
i have a question, when you're creating a room or a house in blender... do you follow the standard sizes of the buildings, doors and other furniture like in archi/interior design/ engr? or you just basically randomly creating the house without having the measurements?
For me, I just made up measurements but it's still within reason compared to actual houses in real life. If you happen to have a blueprint of a house it would be very convenient to import that and use it as a reference!
how did you change the style of the door
After creating a door, new settings will pop up over the archimesh buttons. There you can change the look of the door as well as the handle. Hope that helps!
Im an absolute idiot, watching this and i cant still understand a thing about blender😭
That's okay, it's probably a bit too advanced in that case. I also didn't explain a lot of things properly. I'm thinking of making a proper blender tutorial for beginners where I go over the absolute basics like navigating and moving objects etc. That way nobody should be confused when watching this video!
@@wogglawooh omg please do😍😊ill watch it even if long😏😍
@@wogglawooh my humble advise plz don't
