What you said about capitalizing on momentum is so true!! my comic was featured last month so I posted every week and got 1500 subs in a month. Also I think heartwarming romance fits Fairy Lantern perfectly. ✨️🧚♀️

It's weird how inconsistent the amount of money per view is. It fluctuates so much. I'm also an ad revenue canvas creator and the lack of provided stats/transparency from webtoon grinds my gears
It really only should be done as a hobby at this point. There was a 5 year period where you could make $100+ very easily and even $1-2k/month if you worked hard and stuck with it. Now it's only an evenings and weekend hobby.

I'm absolutely grateful for this insight, it's so interesting to see the development, so thank you very much for it. Also I think webtoon content on youtube is a very underrated niche but one that can do very much for you if you do the work (I may be biased bc personally its my fav youtube niche, but I'm also not denying that it can be pretty difficult to get views).

Honestly it's much less than I expected. Oh well, it is like a rewarding yourself as a creator. But not much of a career. By the way, you have a nice voice that can help you with RUclips

I’m currently writing (and doing concept art) my own story in hopes of publishing it in Canvas sometime next year! I wanna go into this with the mindset that I just want to tell a story and I want others to read it. I don’t wanna get overwhelmed by the numbers and potential earnings, if I even make half of what you earn lol (or if I even earn at all 😂). But I just wanna know from you if it’s worth it to post in Webtoon. I’ve been doing research, watching yt videos about artists voicing their concern and frustration with Webtoons and how it’s not worth it anymore.
I still think it's worth it in helping find your audience and fostering a community around your story. But yea, money-wise, I'm still looking to find better ways to support my comic financially, and as I'm discovering new things, I want to keep sharing them here on my channel and help out as many indie webcomic artists as I can. ☺️ Good luck with your story!! @meekofortin14 When i first started, it would have been a yes without any hesitation. But now, I honestly don't know if I would. My current life obligations leave little room for comic work. It would really depend on how much they would be willing to work with me in keeping a good balance. Also, if they ever did, I'd want to keep the Canvas version of my comic up for future artists to see the difference between canvas and originals. I think it could be very helpful. But that's just me, and a lot of hypothetical stuff. 😆 thanks for asking!
I was thinking of making a webtoon comic and decided to start now...I already made 4 episodes ( out of 10. I wish to have 10 episodes ready as a head start before I publish)in my sketchbook and will start the digital process after 😋
Im geniunely interested in the ad revenue since it will be a nice income for me ( I'm 20 and live in Central America, every dollar is worth double here) and I wish to do webtoon comics (and other means of art) full time one day

Ad revenue seems pathetic. The real money is made from patreon or sales from red bubble, own website… but how do you refer people to that?
I'm still figuring that one out. Lol.
Patreon seems pretty consistent if you have sustainable rewards. Advertise it where your main audience is. In my case, putting it at the end of a completed comic episode (in the body, not the authors note) seemed to be the most effective. For your own website, ideally, you'd have your comic there, and naturally, readers would just click over to the shop side of your website after reading. But yea, marketing is its own big challenge.

If your comic got accepted to be an original by weebton company they will pay you per episode for a specific number of chapters and the payout depends on the contract , for example if you signed a contract whit weebton that say "1000$ per episode for 50 chapters then they expect you to post 50 chapters on time in return for 50000$ so in general they will pay you 1000$ per episode you post" but this depends on the money you agreed on in the contract from what I heard the payout can varies from 500$ to 2500$ per episode , that's for originals but OFC canvas get paid very very very less , you should have a good art style and a decent story to be selected as an originals , I only see canvas creators complaining here on RUclips about the payout you can't expect a small app to pay you cash for your bad webcomic
I'm only here to show what I make as a Canvas creator on the platform. Not here to complain. lol.
Read all of Solo Leveling... had to of spent close to 80 bucks on tapas. First arc on chainsaw man was 59bucks plus tax for the paperback...
I think doing 1 arc free with ad revenue is good as long as the next arc is paid to read.
If your readers aren't sucked into the world by the end of the 1st arc to the point they gladly will pay for the 2nd arc, I think it is time to use everything you learned and build a new world, or use the same world but with characters/plot and do another 1arc free /2nd arc pay until the formula works.

Hi @vcali1319, I just watched this video (which was incredibly helpful) and I wanted to tell you my experience since I'm from a different country. Canada is usually categorized as North America but Webtoons does pay me in American USD so when it translates to our dollar, the payout gets is often higher because our dollar is lower. Because of this I believe it doesn't matter what country you're from, what you earn is always distributed in American and then your account converts it.

With that many subs, charging even 1 buck per episode would generate nice returns. Totally think 1 buck an episode and 50 bucks per Arc is reasonable in the states.
That checks out. I've seen quite a few creators do a "fast pass" type model by making more episodes available on patreon. It seems to work pretty well.
Heyy, I wanted to ask if you know what kind of webtoon would be too violent for advertisement? Cause I wanted to do an action webtoon, which would have a lot of fighting scenes and depressing moments. Would for example Action in a niveau like Demonslayer or jujutsu kaisen be too violent for webtoon?
I'm not too sure. Best bet would be to check out the originals action genre comics on webtoon and see if stuff lines up with your own comic.

Ooff. That sucks, but thankfully there are other ways to make money from your comic. You can still use your comic to promote something like maybe art commissions or a shop where you sell merch of your comic and other things.
PayPal works in poor country and works in my country why not your's

As far as I know, you have to publish through the website, not the app.

hmmm probably manually. I'd imagine one person would have to manage the pay for both, but don't quote me on it. I'm a solo team. lol! You would have to ask an artist/writer combo--which there are quite a few on webtoon canvas.

I'd say look for an artist who's willing to work with you on your comic. Or you can go the novel route. There's quite a few wattpad novels that have been adapted for webtoon. So focus on your strengths in writing a kickass story. Good luck!

As far as I know, they're not ending ad revenue. It looks like they've even expanded it by lowering the requirements for ad rev. It also looks like Webtoon the company is going from private to public which is pretty interesting. It might mean more money for creators (original and canvas soon) I hope.
Is there still creator reward which pays $100 dollar per month for 40k views or it has removed? Tell me please because if i start my own webtoon but even hitting 100K views and getting only 10 to 40 dollars it will be very disappointing.
yep. unfortunately, Webtoon Canvas got rid of the creator rewards bonus program. but as far as I know, both Tapas and NamiComi still have theirs which are pretty good. it's harder to reach the same view counts since both platforms are much smaller than Webtoon.

If you want ad revenue, then most likely not. Not graphic gory violence anyway.
