If a tiger looks like a kitten, it will hardly feel comfortable roaring. Tobias appears as a kitten and knows that people expect him to meow, so without a mask he could never roar. So from a certain point of view, I think it can be said that the characters that Tobias brings to the stage are just another deep identity of the calm and collected man who speaks during the interviews

I completely agree with you that I’m happy that it’s good for him to put on a mask and pretend to be someone else so he keeps his real self private but I also agree that he doesn’t realise that those characters come from within him and he’s not as shy and introverted as he thinks . I'm not an english native speaker, but a linguistics enthusiast and my native language comes from latin (Brazillian Portuguese). I find it very funny that when I sing along with Ghost songs, I expect Tobias to fully pronunciates some consonants (specially the Ts), like british ou most of non-native english speakers would do, but he omits them most of the time, like a true american. For me, is almost impossible to sing the line "A fall of illusion, your zenith fades into eternity" without fully pronunciating the T in eternity hahaha
I love how he explains the danger of self-absorption as a "supernatural on-stage being." That is exactly what happens to a lot of people who become famous like that, they slip into their "supernatural being" mindset all the time, practically letting it consume them, and they become self-absorbed.
Those who get it, get it!, It's not about him feeling insecure, its about the power of a concept does, if a mask is tool for him to fully express himself, that's awesome! And, I totally "get" what Tobias is saying here about how that HE must become "papa emeritus" or the "Cardinal" to be able to get up on stage to BECOME that "entity" in order to basically "put on a great show'. And, then, he goes ON about many things that show that Tobias is REALLY overthinking some stuff as for the whole "Image" issue about Papa Emeritus and the "Cardinal" in the band Ghost. Now, as I have been watching this video, it seems that Tobias has been admitting that he is actually a MUCH BETTER singer than his mask will allow him to be. And, as this video goes on about just how Tobias had chosen to use the whole "papa emeritus" character as a way for him to be able to "act through him" and become that "evil character" and throughout time, Tobias was able to take that EVIL "papa emeritus" character, and make HIM REALLY make him seem almost HUMAN. Now, THIS is the lineup of the Ghost band AFTER the guys in Ghost as For the first 3 or 4 years lineup has been done with. REALLY, MY favorite lineup of Ghost had been the original lineup. AND, that Lineup had OMEGA and ALPHA as the ORIGINAL guitarists fronting the band. As Ghost's music had been going on throughout the years and DECADES, us fans of the group KNOW that what we REALLY have to look FORWARD to, IS what Tobias and Ghost will be doing as far as making MORE new music.
