This was a great interview, it is nice to see him speak about things he is passionate for.
Rats was my first song and I loved it instantly. I listened to Prequelle and was hooked on the first listen. Then when I started looking into the band and the Ghost webisodes, I loved all of it. The band's music stood out from the same old boring stuff playing on the radio.

Late to the party* I just really discovered Ghost this last year. The way Tobias describes his obsession over bands and songs is 100% me at this moment with Prequelle (and Ghost as a whole). Obsessed is putting it lightly! ♡♡
when i first heard 'square hammer' i had to hear more from ghost and as luck had it when driving across the US last fall caught up with them in sacramento. then i was hooked and fell deep into the black hole of youtube videos and have listened to them every day since. i like the whole back story, the tongue and cheek humor, the references to old horror movies……all of it. brilliant. saw them again in salt lake city this year and am looking forward to what the future holds for this band.
God he is perfect!!! Ghost is my favorite band. The first moment I saw them in a RUclips video I was HOOKED!!! 2 years later and 4 shows in I am madly in love. Love you so much Tobias, you are gorgeous! Love Ghost forever.
I want a Ghost movie like Spinal Tap. A collection of live footage, weird behind the scene clips from the Clergy and awkward interviews with the Papas and Ghouls.
I am completely obsessing over Ghost because I just discovered them, and especially the song He Is....I must have listened to it 30 times in a row last night...
So, I heard my friend playing Square Hammer on bass, then he played the music video for that. After that we watch Circe, and I thought it was awesome, but couldn't have called myself a huge fan, just liked their music. Then I saw them live right before Halloween a couple years ago, in a theatre. There was an intermission and everything, and it was a really fun show. I've never felt so connected to strangers in a crowd or to a band like I was when I heard Monstrance clock played for the first time. It was such a beautiful thing, hearing so many people all raise their voices and sing along with a sense of comraderie and interconnectedness. It was from that night I was absolutely a fan. I ons3isted on playing all the songs I hadn't heard through the hour drive home that night, windows down, wind tangling my hair. My best friend was with me and we stopped at a waffle house, and saw people who'd also been at the show, who were all dressed up, and we just sort of nodded to each other and it was a fun moment. I'm so very much in love with the music, the sense of humor, and the general spririt of Ghost (pun intended). Thank you so much for bringing this to the U.S., Tobias Forge. The music and goofy videos and antics have helped me through some tough times. What an inspiring artist. Much love from the U.S. 🖤
I’ve been a fan since Halloween 2010. Seen ghost 6 times since they first came to cleveland with baroness. One of my all time favorites. My first impression was how new and fresh opus eponymous sounded. The obsession came naturally. I also like how they piss off the majority of black metal internet warriors. If a band makes someone so mad they buy a rare copy of their first ep, set it on fire and piss on it while taking pics, the band is doing something right.
I’ve recently become a Ghost fan in the last two years and I really dig their sound. I think it’s awesome Tobias has unmasked himself, but I also enjoyed the mystery. I find him intriguing and soothing.
I was raised in a Christian home and while I don't really see myself as a member of that faith. I am a very spiritual person and that is heavily informed by my Christian upbringing. Basically my issue is with hatred, hypocrisy and organized religion. Needless to say I dig me some Ghost. They're super tongue and cheek and I love their campy satanism by way of the Catholic Church and pop culture. Plus they just rock. Kiss the Go Goat is the song I'm currently obsessed with.
What's your belief on Hell for non-believers? I'm aware that a TINY percent of christians believe that non-believers will just die and some TINY percent believe they will go to heaven.
Much as I like a good old F-bomb in my own vocabulary, I love that Tobias, like Ronnie James Dio, can hold a cogent and eloquent conversation without using that obligatory profanity where phrases might lack. Intelligence, poise and talent.
I like the concept where here we have a Swedish composer who performs, not just writes and plays. You're getting the best of both a retro metal show and a theatrical stage performance, where the composer carries his performance on every part of that fucking stage!!
I'd like to see a musical interpretation of Ghost in film form, like an ode to Metallica's "Through The Never"; but doing it *right* in such a way that you're immersed in the Ghost concert experience. Like, this is what Ghost is, this is where everything is coming from thematically, this is the experience of the music itself; being driven through cinema. Kind of like "The Wall", really; but through the eyes of a fan.
Very good band that I just came across (better late than never)! Their hooks are unbelievably catchy and stay in my head. By the various hand signs in Ghost videos and certain lyrics Forge says in his songs, it’s fairly obvious he’s a Mason. Tobias Forge is a lot more articulate than I would have guessed- impressive
First Ghost song I heard was Secular Haze ,and I was immediately obsessed and impressed by the way they sing, the way they dress ,since then I fell completely in love 🥰 ,
Another great interview, very interesting and easy to listen to. I really enjoyed this one. Something I noticed - Either TF is getting some much needed rest or the make up artist did a decent job hiding dark circles and tired skin. He was starting to look pretty fatigued in recent interviews. His eyes still seem a bit weary though. Hope he is enjoying at least a little R&R in between tours.
Not if you believe that the christian god is omniscient and knows you're enjoying it. There's blasphemy in some of the lyrics. Blasphemy is an unforgivable sin. Satan is the enemy and tempter in christianity. Hope you and the commenters don't believe in Hell for non-believers...that would be pretty messed up to feel like you can do essentially whatever you want & not burn in Hell as long as you believe in Jesus & repent.....but believe that every non-believer will burn in Hell just for not believing. A considerable amount of the fans at concerts.
@@jeffanderson1708 once you are born again, you are one with God. Which means you go to heaven. And the you only go to hell if you deny your maker after that. I've asked God before about advice for this music, and that Sunday in church, they spoke about God enjoying us when we are enjoying ourselves, just as a dad enjoy his kid when the kid is enjoying himself. Yes, the lyrics is somewhat different, but Jesus knows me, he knows I love this music and Christian music soooo idk. That's your opinion, this is mine. It's perfectly fine to listen to this when you know who you are in God, but I wouldn't talk about Ghost with friends that doesn't quite understand it yet. Because maybe they'll take it the wrong way!
@@mrheadlessa somewhat different!! LOL!!! That's pretty awful to believe that people will burn in hell if they don't there is a god, such as myself... I used to believe when I was younger - was raised christian. So are you saying those who don't believe in the first place will not burn in hell?
The thing i love about ghost is that he's managed to create this 'lore' around the band without stepping on the toes of Alice Cooper or Kiss... I'd love to see more of this theatrical type of approach.
The bit about masking the Ghost band mates in regards to the 80s era of anonymity is flawless. It makes so much sense. I love it! I thought the initial mystery and intrigue of Ghost was part of a publicity stunt. I had no idea Tobias was recreating what experiencing music was like for him as a lad. Honestly, I like this truth much better than my educated assumption.

Gosh, now I understand what connects my all time favourote musicians (Gorillaz, Rammstein, Ghost) - the lore behind the music. There is always something more than just music to uncover, you can go very deep into lyrics or music videos or even a fictional characters that are creating the band.

when i first heard 'square hammer' i had to hear more from ghost and as luck had it when driving across the US last fall caught up with them in sacramento. then i was hooked and fell deep into the black hole of youtube videos and have listened to them every day since. i like the whole back story, the tongue and cheek humor, the references to old horror movies……all of it. brilliant. saw them again in salt lake city this year and am looking forward to what the future holds for this band.
My very first introduction to Ghost was the video 'He Is' so I am right with you 🤘🏻
So, I heard my friend playing Square Hammer on bass, then he played the music video for that.
Tobias seems to genuinely love doing this interview. Great stuff!
I’ve recently become a Ghost fan in the last two years and I really dig their sound. I think it’s awesome Tobias has unmasked himself, but I also enjoyed the mystery. I find him intriguing and soothing.
I would buy tickets now to see a movie Tobias hasnt even made yet... His music videos are so movie magic..
He is such a real sweetheart! I can’t wait to meet him again! 🖤🤘🏼
I am a christian and still love Ghost and have been to a concert recently. I guess I'm a unicorn.
Same here!!
This is really good to see as I am a christian also, yet this is my favorite band. I have yet to go to a concert, but I'm still patient about it
If you play Ghost records backwards they say “we don’t worship satan.”
South African Viking/Power Metal...that sounds soooo awesome!
Tobias talking about his favorite bands and all of us here talking about Ghost being our favorite. 🥹🫶
He’s so handsome so genuine and talented 😍😍my inner fangirl is coming out
Handsome? his nose looks like my dogs ass. He isn't wearing a mask to be edgy.
@I have to wait 90 days to change my name Is being good looking a prerequisite for judging beauty?
I fricking love this band and the whole philosophy Tobias has
I like the concept where here we have a Swedish composer who performs, not just writes and plays. You're getting the best of both a retro metal show and a theatrical stage performance, where the composer carries his performance on every part of that fucking stage!!
Laugh reveal in this video!!!!😮😮😮
Scooby Doo meets Ghost
Make it happen
Zoinks!
How can you not love this guy guy?
Very good band that I just came across (better late than never)! Their hooks are unbelievably catchy and stay in my head. By the various hand signs in Ghost videos and certain lyrics Forge says in his songs, it’s fairly obvious he’s a Mason. Tobias Forge is a lot more articulate than I would have guessed- impressive
Scott 3838 “are you on the square?~
Are you on the level?~”
Does anybody get the impression that he's afraid of the fame? He seems really reserved and shy.
Rose Doesn't Know know way
he like me fr- i find myself spending a whole day watching ghost videos LMAO
Best tobias interview!!! ❤ I love him
Mr. dead end That means so much-thank you for your kind words. We appreciate you watching!!
Very intelligent guy. Always a pleasure to hear him talk about his work.
First Ghost song I heard was Secular Haze ,and I was immediately obsessed and impressed by the way they sing, the way they dress ,since then I fell completely in love 🥰 ,
Tobias is SO awesome and intelligent !!
*NEWSFLASH* you can be a Christian and like the band Ghost 🗣🗣 (that’s me)
Yep same here
Truth be spoken, same here!
His voice is so soothing :) I absolutely adore Ghost, I don't know what I would do without them
Tobias would be excellent at Cinema Sins.
Ew
Please do more with him in the future! He's so interesting
One of my top favorite bands 🤟🏻
He seems like cool guy to hang out with.
And a new respect for Tobias seeing an Imperial emblem on his right arm!
The thing i love about ghost is that he's managed to create this 'lore' around the band without stepping on the toes of Alice Cooper or Kiss... I'd love to see more of this theatrical type of approach.
As a Catholic who listens and enjoys ghost, keep doing what you're doing this is amazing
Fan vad jag älskar dig Tobias.
disappointed. he didn’t say boo once.
juno 😂😂😂Wrong Ghost!!
Alternative Press b-but it says it right in the title 🥺
juno 😂😂 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! 🎃🎃
For his next act he will become Casper.
Peepeetime
The first Ghost song I heard was “Elizabeth” after seeing they were opening for Opeth years ago. Been a fan ever since. His music prior to Ghost is good too imo. (ex: Subvision- Lady Morgue)
Peepeetime nice. Someone else that actually knows Ghost.
i appriciate that alternative press actually reads and responds to the comments. most channels like this just disables the comment section. great interview, thanks!
Yeah, pretty cool of them i must admit.
Gosh, now I understand what connects my all time favourote musicians (Gorillaz, Rammstein, Ghost) - the lore behind the music. There is always something more than just music to uncover, you can go very deep into lyrics or music videos or even a fictional characters that are creating the band.
i love him cause of his knowledge and his moments of geekdom. you never know what he will say or talk about. i love hering mentions of other bands he loves. i got into behemoth due pics of both of them together (then nergal came out in an interview about best live gigs and he mentioned "nick cave and the badseeds") i swooons soooo darn hard
