Pure nostalgia for me! I grew up listening to Joan Baez. Her voice was like an angel singing to me. I have also been a Bob Dylan fan since 1965. She sings his songs so beautifully!
I was such a lucky young lad to be introduced to Joan Baez's talents in the early 1960s. I have listened to this beautiful music all my life, albums, 8-tracks, cassettes, CDs, now streaming. I hope the young of today can be influenced by her beautiful music and her tireless efforts for a better world. Thank you, Ms. Baez.
Joan Báez...!! CUÁNTO TE ADMIRO, QUERIDA JOAN...!! TIENES UNA VOZ INOLVIDABLE QUE SALE DE LO MÁS PROFUNDO DE TU ALMA...!! SOY UNO DE FANS MÁS INCONDICIONALES...!!
"There But for Fortune" is the very first song I ever heard Joan Baez sing. I was listening to one of the pop station on the radio in Los Angeles. I was about 14 years old and listening to all the pop music of the Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Beau Brummels. So there I was in my room, listening to the pop music for hours and then, all of a sudden I hear this voice I had NEVER heard before and couldn't believe my ears. I thought oh my goodness, who is this? Who is this? I never had heard a girl singing like this before. After the song ended the DJ announced, "That was Joan Baez singing, There But for Fortune.." She is a folk singer" There I sat, 14 years old and just could not believe this girl with the most beautiful incredible voice I was hearing for the first time! I was a fan ever since that one summer day so many, many years ago. As I came to know more about Joan Baez, I grew my hair like hers and I had lovely very thick fliowing long hair like Joan, only my hair was auburn, and not black hair. 😊
Also one of the first songs by Joan that I heard; every now and then, the words come back to me - when I see a rough sleeper or a drug addict - there but for fortune go any one of us. We are all humanity on this oasis in space for a short while. Bad luck and bad decisions can take us all.
After already 60 Years, this will be forever an absolutely amazing beautiful Performance, of on of the best Songwriters in Human History, the incredible Joan Baez. 👌💐👌💐👌
Joan Baez has more than the best woman voice on this earth. She was and is so brave like Paco Ibañez. Her song versus Donald Trump : the Nasty man written in 2017 where she sings at the end : from feet to head he is like a crazy bomb, another form of a dictator 😮
While Joan's vocal prowess is widely acknowledged I feel she has not really been appreciated nor given proper credit for the unique skill and talent she has brought to the art of song interpretation. Not only has she reimagined (and often rendered intelligible) the works but a staggering number of her contempories from Pete Seeger to Bob Marley plus international artists and historical works. For the first 25 years of her career Joan did all this without as much as a manager let alone a retinue of arrangers and paid professionals - just herself and guitar. Likewise the 1500 interviews she gave were off the cuff and without conditions. Could you imagine any artist today having the guts to do this? This clip (thanks!) is a great example of her work at its best.
Her mother was a Scottish 👩🎤 singer 🧑🎤 and her father a Mexican Physicist and that’s why she can sing 🎶 in Spanish so easily and she’s a bit brown like her father.
Nur Engel und Nachtigallen können so wunderschön singen !
I LOVE YOU, JOAN BAEZ .

Mararvilhoso .
Quality individual then and still.

Great song but Mary Hamilton is a Scottish song not English.

Sehr schön gesungen, nur hat Gott leider noch nie dabei geholfen einen Krieg zu verhindern oder zu stoppen.
I think that "nostalgia" is the survivors excuse for not dieing with their bretheren.
