Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his platoon take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered when hostile alien invaders attack the planet in this epic sci-fi action film.
Love this movie, no wartime romances just straight combat from beginning to end.
@1:58 that statement in other words "you'll die defending that line, if that all it takes"
2:08 He said 10 thousand enemies are advancing throught the suburbs from the direction of the coastline. With an element of surprise they had and superior firepower it is really A LOT.
Their Intel was also completely wrong. They believed it was a ground force enemy only and placed all of their bets on the Air Force. The enemy did have Air support though and it ended up costing them their own air support for that region of California
@@BlvxkByrdI’d say the aliens had limited air support, as there’s no evidence the alien drones can work at high altitude
@@TheCrunchbite no evidence they can’t as well though, just because we don’t see them do it, doesn’t mean they can’t. That said, looking at their design, they’d probably be less agile that high up, which would give ordinary planes the advantage, but I doubt the aliens even allowed proper air to air combat if this is a weakness for the drones. My theory for this is based on when the first drones show up, which is when our squad is attempting to get their wounded out at the police station. I can easily see the Aliens using a mass drone attack to OBLITERATE the defensive line, and force their way through to the FOB, destroying the planes on the ground before the defenders have a chance to retaliate.
@TheCrunchbite actually there is. These are aliens with the technology to travel through space.
The thing is the aliens air units were station to protect their HQ ships until a secur location is achieved.
Then it's also the suprise attacks the aliens wanted to use on Humanity. I mean just looked how shocked and hoe easily overwhelmed the US military was when the aliens air units appeared.
@@commandercritic9036The aliens were shown flying at very high and are very agile. It's how they beat the airforce. I don't get that logic that an alien species who can fly in space and do space travel can't fly at high altitude.
Ahh, no action movie is complete without the military saying "And we gotta hit em hard!" 😂
Just like they said to your mom
We need a second movie of this showing elsewhere in the world
Tbh, this is pretty realistic how US would respond if there are aliens. Invasion or not.
Or not💀?
@@Colt502no absolutely. This is pretty much textbook first contact scenario.
"this is not a drill". I'm fairly sure the Captain is fully aware of that.
He was talking about his hammer
One of few movies that shows the military side of an apocalypse
I love how the Fire Fighters are running for their lives with the civilians
their not. They are trying to locate all fire locations and help civilians. That's why In the scene we see a firetruck.
Yea cause what are water hoses gonna do against those aliens
@@Nando.M1 Those firefighters, they ain't looking to fight the aliens. Those firefighters are on scene trying put out fires & assist civilians with evacuating them.
@@Nando.M1 If those aliens weren't Armed, they could actually do a lot, lol. Fire hoses have a LOT of Pressure/Force.
and the 3 random cops running towards everything
Its pretty silly to assume that an enemy force which, um, flew here, from Outer space wouldn't have air capability.
they were going off what had been seen until that point, which was the aliens were ground-force only, then again someone high up dropped the ball; they should've figured if an enemy can travel across space and conduct a planetary invasion they'd have air support going sooner or later too
They were assuming that the aliens didn’t have enough space in their drop pods to carry an airforce.
Anyone with FTL tech is probably going whipe the floor with us, baring some really crazy luck. Unless this really isn't supposed to be a military invasion.
From 2:10 to 3:06 it´s like i imagine the chaos when i read world war z, the beginning of yonkers battle.
its criminal we never got a proper adaptation of that book
Always nice seeing Super Cobras
1:51 "and you kill anything that's not human"
considering the dog that distracted the squad right before ambush...
They must have "followed" the orders off-screen...
I'm pushing 70 and I liked this movie when I first seen it. That's all
2:59 Was that the sound from transformers 😂
Transformers sounds were used in battleship as well
Loved this movie. Pure action right from the get go.
God damn man this my favorite movie brings back so many memories
Such a fantastically done Alien Invasion movie, they threw so much reality into a War film but just replaced the enemy with Aliens.
I think this is called “kicking the hornet nest”.
I bet you would find it an awesome if it was real 👍

I love this movie.
A great movie! 👍
2:08: 10,000 enemy moving inland, they are advancing east from the coastline to the suburbs. Golf Company is overrun, Lima Company requesting immediate air support. Civilians are being stranded behind enemy lines.
I've seen this movie dozens of times and never heard it noticed that he gave an actual number.
Even though this movie was a huge Ad for the Marines, National Guard, and Air Force, it’s a fun movie nonetheless.
great movie
Terra Invicta, nuff said.
This secene gives me WWZ vibes, like somehting you'll see in the Battle of Yonkers chapter.
God if only we got the battle of Yonkers from the book… that was a colossal shit show for the military in the book.
0:23 Child's Play (1988)
ignoring all the criticisms the movie got the part that really makes it hard to watch this movie is the constant and insane shaky camera. makes me feel sick
"we got an infestation of god knows what but they are not of this earth" such a great line. I just hated how the soldiers reacted so blandly to aliens like they were just another country. Maybe thats how it'd actually be, but i think itd be pretty hard to keep composure in that situation
Coming to a city near you.
If there were an alien invasion, the entire world would unite. Ronald Reagan
The only real problem with this movie is the shaky ass camera
The Hollywood army is awesome 👍👍
nnyl kram bor OMG
Aaron Eckhart is too old for a staff sergeant here.
Yes, they made that pretty clear during rhe movie. You should watch it
I enjoyed the movie - all the "hoorah" stuff, but aliens wouldn't attack and destroy the Earth's resources like that. They would drop viruses into the atmosphere, or do something to say, end photosynthesis. Then they'd check reports every so often as they partied down, waiting for us all to die.
Just think of Genghis Khan's unstoppable horde. Just one modern bomber, conventional weapons only, could, without risking a single member of the crew, destroy 85% of the Mongol army in an hour. That is only an 800 year difference - hardly anything. What about 100,000 years difference?
As I stated, we would send in the Marines, but if the aliens were advanced enough to get an armada here, we would never get even one kill. But hoorah anyway.
So you've met aliens to know what they would do? Okay, lol.
@@theoutlawking9123 Barely half a century after WWII the US had weaponry to defeat Japan and Nazi Germany in days - and without losing a dozen soldiers.
I don't need to know any aliens (although I have met some people...) to see how a modest few decades can make a huge difference in warfare.
Idk some people theorize that the aliens in this movie were pretty much a battered and half defeated army from having their own war with another species. So out of desperation for fuel they attack Earth for its oceans since they’re land sharks they live in water. I mean it makes sense if you take into account that the aliens in this movie looked kind of battered and beat up and some of their equipment looked damaged. You could chock that up to their initial invasion and that the military did some damage to them which is probably true. Still as much as I would’ve liked a more thought out and well rounded story from this movie it’s fun and good for what it is and I enjoy it for that. Besides the directors and writers of this film wanted to make a war movie first alien invasion movie second and that is exactly what they did. It’s first and foremost a war movie.
@@frankhoffman3566 Funny how Japan and Nazi aren't Aliens, you sound less coherent with each reply.
@@theoutlawking9123 ... Well there are a lot of people - perhaps including you - who prefer their comforting delusions over evidence they see with their own eyes.
This is what LA looks like every weekend 😂😅

my man said they have no aircraft. then how tf did they get here?!?
Spacecraft.
@@Ishwolv same shxt. but superior
@@williedockery7037 Not even close to the same. Not even a little bit. Aircraft take advantage of airfoil to create lift. There is no air in space. Even the space shuttle, a spacecraft designed to function in atmosphere, cannot fly unassisted. It just glides because the wings aren't designed to function as an airfoil. Spacecraft are nothing at all like Aircraft.
Today's garbage society: "Okay, civilians! Go inside your houses and let the professionals handle this!"
Our founding fathers: "Okay civilians! Grab your guns and any other weapon that you can, and come help us destroy the enemy!"
Venice and Amarosa's point on the map is actually around Hollister Ave and 6th street. Also, there's no Amarosa street in LA.
Apparently the police station is real though.
