When the wind blows and the rain feels cold
With a head full of snow
With a head full of snow
In the window there's a face you know
Don't the nights pass slow
Don't the nights pass slow
The sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind
Just another mad mad day on the road
I am just living to be lying by your side
But I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road
Made a rag pile of my shiny clothes
Gonna warm my bones
Gonna warm my bones
I got silence on my radio
Let the air waves flow
Let the air waves flow
Oh I'm sleeping under strange strange skies
Just another mad mad day on the road
My dreams is fading down the railway line
I'm just about a moonlight mile down the road
I'm hiding sister and I'm dreaming
I'm riding down your moonlight mile
I'm hiding baby and I'm dreaming
I'm riding down your moonlight mile
I'm riding down you moonlight mile
Let it go now, come on up babe
Yeah, let it go now
Yeah, flow now baby
Yeah move on now yeah
Yeah, I'm coming home
'Cause, I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road
Down the road, down the road
I think that this song is the best
Rolling stones ballad
I agree alongside “Winter”
Pretty unbelievable he STILL has his voice at this age. Incredible.
never too much there to start with
i usually get on these old fart bands till performing way past their prime, but he sounds the same .
My only complaint is why don’t they sing this more often!!! This is incredible - enough with Miss You and It’s only rock and roll - play deep cuts like this treasure
I wish they would play all of side 2 of Tatto You in order one of these days. One of the greatest sides of any rock and roll album in history. It would be like heaven and it would be tops. ✌😉😊
First studio recording : Jagger, Taylor, Watts. For the rest overdubbed later.
Songs like this are what make the Stones so incredibly great. Everyone knows their classics and then they sneak little gems like this in and you just get blown away all over again. Masters of versatility.

Not to mention how good they perform it live.
I would agree with you mostly, except this is one of their best songs, at least my favorite Stones song. Unfortunately when I seen them in concert, they didn’t play it. I guess when you have as many hits as they do, they can’t play them all unless they pull a Grateful Dead, which isn’t very likely.
So true......the hidden gems like this one. Known by the true fans.....
RIP Charlie, one of your best songs, Ride that Moonlight Mile Baby!
This song has always been an underrated gem. It closes Sticky Fingers and the first time I heard it, I figured it was filler, but it is beautiful. The lyrics are a rare example of Mick opening up his soul and showing his vulnerability, losing the rockstar image for a few minutes. ❤️
One of their masterpieces
Mick sounds like a young man. Fantastic voice!!
SI VOS LO observas a medida q van pasando los temas va rejuveneciendo en cada actuacion , y eso es x q lo disfrutan

Moonlight Mile is a masterpiece and this performance is flawless. What incredible range the Stones have - consider that this was the final song on Sticky Fingers - an album that started with Brown Sugar as the first song!
Only Jagger, Taylor, Watts first recording in studio and after over dubbed, Brown Suggar was wrote by Jagger alone in Australia, not bad.
Moonlight Mile is a true gem. The Stones's range is very broad indeed.
The best stones album. On a highschool dance night in my buds dads car on a double date we had 1 tape( 8 track) listened over and over band over. Few albums are worthy of that.
Two words....Mick Taylor. Supposedly he had a big hand in writing this song and also 'Sway'....which is another underrated great song.
Two of my favorites.
@@1blkgsd Awesome! I actually listened to both of those songs last night. I had a little remembrance music listening session of The Stones in memory of Charlie...Rest In Peace Charlie Watts.
@@carpetbeggar I just picked up Exile ,I'm in love with the song Ventilator Blues, I cant believe I'm 52 and don't think I ever heard it until recently.
This song was mostly written by Jagger. Taylor doubles on his electric guitar what Jagger plays on acoustic. Taylor did write the guitar part that ups the tempo, though. But this is a Jagger composition.
And Winter, Till the next time Jagger /Taylor too.
I love this song. Still have my vinyl Sticky Fingers album with a real zipper in the cover
I found this song watching Sopranos and how I loved the sopranos I love the show even more for introducing me to this masterpiece
Mick sang this way better than I thought he would at 70
He can do it if he really puts his mind to it but sometimes he just get lazy😛
A true living legend ! Proud to be living the same time as he is ! Long live, Mick !
It is literally impossible to come up with a list of Top 10 Stones songs, as there are so many great and meaningful ones .. The list will change and songs with jump around daily, however, one song is written in stone for me : Moonlight Mile is, and will always be, the number one Stones song on my list ... There are songs, and then there are pieces of life that stay with you forever
I insist that you include "Winter" in which ever list you compile!
@@rayfriedman9625 what a great song, I completely agree Ray !!
@@rollingstonesa.r.8979 Estoy de acuerdo, las canciones y los recuerdos van de la mano !! ... so many great songs, so many memories
@François Gaspard Francois, Let It Loose is a great song .. It's a song that may not immediately come to mid when thing of the Top 10 or 20 songs, but when you listen to it, you think "this is one of their best" ... Exile On Main Street is one of the greatest albums ever
This is the first time I've heard this song live. Perfect ! :)
I love it . I first heard it lives during the 94 voodoo lounge tour
@@jasonraczkowski6001 RS are Legends !!
Saw them in concert 7 times. One of the shows they played Moonlight Mile, Sway and Beast of Burden all in a row. Then came back with Get off My Cloud. One of the best moments of my life. Love The Rolling Stones!
Wow glad u did.
@@MrPernell27 lucky
Probably my favorite stones song very few people have ever heard of…thanks to the sopranos for making me aware of this song.
Hauntingly beautiful. In my opinion, one of their best, and that's saying a lot.
One of these songs, u NEVER get tired to listen...
Agree..
When I leave this life, my memories will flash before my eyes and my ears will hear Moonlight Mile ❤
muy dulce
The hypnotic closer on Sticky Fingers. Like drifting on a cloud. It’s just a beautiful tune.
This has always been and always will be my favorite rolling stones song.
I bequath to my grandkids, Anna and Lewis this music and may you hear this and feel out hopes for your lives.
Full orchestral Open G. Amazing.
Great song.....thanks Mick Taylor.
If anyone doubted the Rolling Stones should be recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage
a vastly overlooked Stones composition....deserves more love
I think my favourite Stones song. Mesmerising. Happy Birthday Mick!
A beautiful song and a great 'live' performance of this magnificent song. Bravo!
A perfect song to end an amazing series. The Serpent.. To all the people who never made it back to their loved ones. Rip to all those beautiful souls who set out with dreams but never made it back
Great production. What amazes me is how they find actors that look identical to the people they are portraying.
always my Favorite Balladeers ROLLING STONES 4 EVER when the rain feels cold.....
What a great song, so underrated
Masterpiece

@@rollingstonesa.r.8979 It seems like you don't know that it's a pur Jagger /Taylor song.
@@Methilde no estaba ahi me parece que es de los rolling stones . ademas por como estan afinadas las guitarras me tira mas Keith hay 3 violas y 2 afinadas en open G pero no se bien quien la hizo
The best records of RS are those where Mick Taylor was in.
Never heard this song . I love it.
Izzy, the studio version of this song is so incredible and beautiful, give it a listen, you won’t be disappointed. To me it has an Asian guitar sound, could just be in my head, but it’s my opinion.
My favorite Stone's song by far!
Masterpiece.
My god what a song. By far their best and a true all timer
one of my very, very favorite Stones songs - moonlight delight!
I hope they will play this at my funeral ,. as i head on down that moonlight mile
My father died last month.. He was a big fan his whole life. I chose this song at his funeral.
Gorgeous song, its been a dear friend to me for years.........top 3 stones song!
I agree with you, if you never heard this song before, you are missing out.
One warm summer night east in the hills of San Diego we went camping, myself and a good friend. We hiked down a mountain side to a grove of trees that lead to a place called the devils punch bowl. This was some falls that empty 400 feet down the side of the hill into a hollowed out swimming hole. We bought steaks and really nice wine 🍷 and a lot of good things to eat. We hauled old a cooler down the side of the mountain because the road had washed out. At sunset we set up camp and cooked our steaks, and then our brains, preparing for a warm Moonlit summer evening. I have a tape player with a V attachment and two sets of headphones. In the night the moon was coming up at the side of the mountain as we hiked along underneath listening to this song. Sounded so good with the stereo headphones and both of us being able to listen as we hiked. A good memory…Thomas Packer
excellent story 😅
I could exactly envision this and imagine you are taken back to that night each time you hear it.
Wonderful song ! One a my favorite of THE GREATEST ROLLING STONES THE BEST BAND OF THE UNIVERS FOREVER AND EVER !!!!!!
Seen the Stones play this classic a couple times live, but not like this. Absolutely brilliant performance.
This is a great song that most people haven't heard of. I love how mellow it makes me feel. I don't relate to the lyrics just enjoy the sound. Top 5 band all-time any genre!
bonita descripcion
That is true what you write my dear Phil Parsons ( are you a cousin from Gram ? ). And of course without a shadow of a doubt : Mick Jagger is probably the best frontman ever in Rock-History. In these days he plays fine electric guitar . Trussart Steelcaster I think. I which had one too. And I love Stones Songs like Winter ; 100 years ago ; Sway ; Moonlight Mile . Pearls!!!
@@udohoppe6243 ese es el nombre y modelo de guitarra son hachas de acero

I think lots of people have heard it seeing as it closed Sticky Fingers which was bought by millions.
@@udohoppe6243 have you heard let it loose and shine a light from exile on Main Street
They can't be this good. 👏
Lieblings Stück von meiner verstorbenen 😪Frau und mir
This is ridiculously good.
This song is so beautiful... has an oriental vibe to it.
I was PLEASANTLY surprised here!!
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. That is, the studio version, at least.
Stones played this in Pittsburgh the last time I saw them. Seen them a few times before, but Moonlight Mile was the best song I ever heard them play in concert. Awesome time.
Very new Rolling Stones fan. Can’t stop listening to this song. Thanks for the upload, Mick Jagger has an incredible voice
Your going to get hooked

Is this version on cd?
Would have loved to hear where the Jagger-Taylor combo might have gone with a little more time. Richards was MIA on this.
Love it mick you play the guitar 🎸 very good excellent 😍
Totally one of their best... have played it loud off the LP many times. Thanks PCC!
gracias es para disfrutar
I found out you van play it approximately 50,000 times before the grooves just wear out
@@robertsmith-cj6gl Yep!
My favourite Stones song.
shivvvvers run down my spine - pure blissss. The drummin of late great Charles Watts!!! Same for all musicians, crammed on 1 stage!!!
RIP Charlie…
Totally forgot this song, I remember in the back of my mind...........
Midnight party....this song.
The 70's were awesome.
Masterpiece 💥... Amazing song from amazing album... Thanks.. Greetings Tanja 💥👍
Charlie may not have been flashy but he was always on time.
Mind ... blown. Never saw this version
I heard this song at the 1994 Detroit show with my brother . What a great night that was
The more I listen to it, the more beautiful it is. the nuances they create is pure magic.
AMAZING live performance!!
Beautiful live version. In honor and memory of Charlie.
The world miss Mick Taylor on this one, Mick was at least 75% the musical master mind, but Mick Jagger took it. Mick Taylor should have rights
Beautiful song and performance. Greatest rock and roll band in the world. Love the Stones.
Wonderful performance of this great song written by M. Jagger / K. Richards / M.Taylor!
Great Great band and song !
Moments like this are why they are and always will be the world's greatest rock and roll band.
Saw them do this here in PGH several years back - never thought I'd get to hear it live in my lifetime. It was great.
Gracias stones x existir!!!!
Possibly the finest song ever written, by any band ever. Imo.
A little pearl ❤
Eating the heart Out. Crying a river . Bleeding. .
At EXACTLY 4:14 they show me holding up a t shirt I had made with ‘Moonlight Mile ‘ on the front of it. This and many other moments featuring myself is on the dvd of this concert. We got a call the night before the show to get our selves to Hollywood from Texas and we made it. Best show ever.
groso lo tuyo te felicito
Keith could play 10 notes in a song and they would be the 10 notes that make the song
Absolutly !
Funnily enough Keith does not play on the studio version. Mick Jagger plays acoustic and Mick Taylor plays electric.
Song written by Jagger/Taylor.
@@BigSky1 written by Jagger Richards.
@@flyingburritobro68 It is credited to Mick and Keith but Keith had very little to do with creating the song.
@@flyingburritobro68No, Keith wasn't in the studio only on over dumb later.
Iconic.
Wow never thought that done live. Few years ago when I heard how it was written And played id wished Taylor got some credit but my respect for Micks playing went up. Yesterday I got news a bud died from an od. I learned this song as the mood hit the mark. The song emotes feeling. Not the topic but the mood hit my soul.
Pure heaven.
Aha memories of my post student days staying up all night with a head full of snow....wow.
Back in ‘98 we saw this done at the old stadium in Foxboro, before Kraft built Gillette. What a great song. Eltons Madman compares.
fantastic
PERFECT💋
My very favorite Stones song. A true masterpiece.
Ufff q canción! Una maravilla
Riding down that moonlight mile with a head full of snow ,,,oh good days
These boys were serious musicians making that all mighty buck. ..
"...find a girl with far away eyes."
Brilliant 👏
GOD BLESS ROLLING STONES.
My goal will be to travel to some show this world.
Mick sounds GREAT.
Es una hermosa canción. Según dicen compuesta por Jagger en guitarra principal, y así se ve en vivo. Muy bien tocada, muy bien cantada, hermosa.
One of my favorite Stones songs. I read that Keith didn't actually play on the studio version but the riff played by Jagger was written by Richards. They gave Keith a writing credit on the album. Mick Taylor played electric guitar on the album.
Not a Keith riff, easy to gess it.
un pezzo superbo sia per il testo che musicalmente
LOVE
I get a kick out of Mick still calling Ronnie “Sugar” as a way of queuing him into a solo or musical change. I don’t know if he did it before, but in the album cut of “When the Whip Comes Down” you can hear Mick calling him “Sugar” before one of the solos. It’s not something that happens every single time but enough for it to be noticeable.
The Mick Taylor years
The Mrs has just finished watching "The Serpent" on Netflix, they play this at the end credits. I was straight to RUclips. The first time I've listened in years.
