Charlie had such a quiet dignity to him. What a loss, but what a life.
RIP dear Charly Watts
Amen👍
Perfect words 👌 xxxx
He was a true English gentleman. I really wished I could have seen him play live.
He just couldn't stand the fact somebody was singing without proper time being kept while there was a kit available. Had to jump in.
We will never see a band like The Rolling Stones in this lifetime, They have been together 58 years, Since 1963.
All time greatest band! Just amazing.
1962
I think you're right. IMHO, the sentiment also applies to a number of other bands. However, much as contemporary music as performed by various teenage "pop stars" receives significant and often valid criticism, there are up and coming musicians out there. They can play their instruments. Give them a few years and, no, they won't be like the Stones, but hopefully they'll be as impressive in a related (or completely different) style, and valued just as much by younger generations.
Amen
1963 i was 4 years old.love stones
100 percent true.🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶🎹🎺
There will never be another band like them. The current generation has no idea what they missed. My generation was lucky. It was a golden age for music.
You are right. Jagger/Richards. Lennon/McCartney .
These are once in multi generational talents.
And for being able to afford your own house!!
@@matidalmahu9419 And being able to afford milk and eggs also.
Fuckin great
Multiple generations- My dad is an original- I was born in 1970, so am second gen- my Nephew, born in 1992- (third gen) is raising his daughter on the Stones among others.
This is what music sounds like when you and your band mates have played together for over a half of a century. It sounds effortless, and that level of trust only comes, from family. The Stones have shared their entire lives with us. I for one, have enjoyed the ride.
Well said mister
Lovely sentiments. Trusting each one to do the right thing.
Don't forget they slept with each other too lol.
Absolutely right!!!!!!

Hi
Its been nice growing old with these guys and it feels better every day knowing what i enjoyed in those days is more admired and appreciated more now
Someday they will all be gone and this video will be a sweet reminder of how special they all really were..............together............as a band of brothers.......greater than the sum of the parts.
I’m 20 years old and saw them live for the first time about 2 years ago for my birthday. My parents and I bought general admission tickets, got to our seats and by pure luck, the security guard upgraded our seats. Was extremely fortunate enough to have seen Charlie’s singer front row and also be right in front of Keith. I’ll never forget it. Greatest rock and roll band ever, and the greatest band ever (along with the Beatles, the who, and Zep) always!
Just great how the song builds, as each band member joins in. Long live the Rolling Stones!! RIP Charlie, the world misses you.
I was just watching this and said the same thing. Beautiful.

Rip Charlie I had the pleasure to see them in New Orleans in the 80s this video is great…
@@MarkSmith-er7fe Except for the loads of songs that define a time, a place, an era.

I can't help to tear up now when I see Charlie playing.
Can't believe he's deceased.
Very surreal.

How wonderful it is to be alive during the era of the Rolling Stones. A band that can never be duplicated. Great pre-show footage. Mick worrying about his son not being warm enough, and Charlie's daughter together. Just another day of entertaining 60, 000 fans.
The rehearsal I mean I’ve seen the stones a number of times and they always bring it to the top but this is a very nice precious video behind the scenes and I love that song and yeah they’re a family.
Makes you realise just how special and integral our Charlie was to the stones ….we all miss him
I like how there was no hesitation and they all just joined in
They've been playing 12 bar blues for 50 years. It should be easy.🤣
Top of their trade Maya
@@MrJohnnyDistortion easy peasy eh .
Second nature. Especially with 'ole mates instantly locking magical melody groves. Cheers. ;-)

Greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world. Glorious.

That one woman at the distance is having a private concert with the worlds best band

That was great the way Charlie Watts just kicked in.

Charlie's singer is pretty freaking good!

Charlie always had perfect timing. Thank you for the years and I will see you there Mr. Watts.
So glad that I have lived in the time of the Rolling Stones.
This is truly a gem. Brought a tear to my eye. The greatest band in history takes the field. They're not only the greatest band, they're like family. RIP, Mr. Watts.
Not even top 5 in history, but yeah, this is sweet.
Yep - Arguably the greatest Rock & Roll band in history. Maybe they're not technically the "best" musicians, but for unreal longevity, and the unrelenting desire to keep creating and performing for longer than I've been alive...
The sheer "Rock & Roll" spirit of that...
Well - No one else comes close.

When Charlie Watts played he always looked like he was above the nonsense. He was there to make great music and the rest was just something he had to deal with. A legend from the start...RIP sir.

I was very fortunate to see the Steel Wheels tour in San Diego. That was the most awesome show ever! I happened to make my way down to the front when Mick Jagger was lifted overhead in a bucket crane, and lowered in various points over our packed stadium of 50k people... It was incredible!!!

It's like a party. Mick hanging by himself, getting things set up. Then a guest arrives and the tempo picks up. Then a second (Charlie) and the party starts to really get going, then two and three more and boom!, the party is kickin' . . .
Great analogy!!
The “guest” was Chuck Lavell, he plays every gig and is their on stage musical director. He arranges the songs, keeps them in time and holds it all together, musically, whilst the Stones do their thing.

Hi Allen, I am so glad that you liked this amazing clip. I just recently discovered it and wanted to share it with real Stones fans like yourself!!
@@DJGerryfromStarlightMusic Breaks my heart that Charle is no longer with us.... . Thanks for posting this amazing clip
It's almost like they have been doing this since the 60's.
come on...it was a wee bit sloppy and keiths guitar was way out of balance sonically. Bass was silent in the mix.
The sound guys had a lot more hours of work to do before show time.
Good grief wash your ears out. Jagger sang like a stuck cat, playing zero capability on keyboards. Charlie sat down & randomly hit a few drums whilst Keef plucked a few chords. It sounded crap. But because it's the Stones it's amazing drool drool. There's loads of bands on RUclips who play superbly & way better than these geriatrics. One down 3 ready to go.
I really like these "inside looks" when bands are just rehearsing somewhere or otherwise musically messing around, especially in the studio. Sometimes you get a glimpse of the creative process, as well as being able to get a feel for each player's personality. And seeing just how each individual interacts with others in a very casual setting. RIP Charlie Watts - You were among the steadiest drummers out there and served as the band's backbone....
Charlie was the heart.
Chuck just jumps right in , this is awesome one of my favorite Stones song , love how Mick changes his voice.

That really felt…magical. So casually can greatness sometimes come together.
I always come back to watch this. Everything makes it special: the sound check, all the Stones arriving, Charlie picking up the drumsticks and jumping right in, Ronnie dancing. And Mick talking to little Gabriel about “layers”-it’s like being there before a show! “I’ve only got SHORTS!” Beautiful!!
God, that's magic right there
as long as they have been touring...they are always on time, and do soundchecks...Very Professional...
lol....I've never seen them when they were on time...1980 Oakland 'Some Girls'...2+ hours late. Santana put on an excellent show. I believe something went bad with sound system because the Stones weren't bad at all, but they sounded like crap, if that makes any sense.
😂. They have been legendarily late in past years!!! Especially the 70's.
Keith truthfully says that 'Showtime' used to start when he woke up!! 😂
Ronnie goes straight for the Strat and Keith the Tele!! Great combo
What is the profile of each guitar and why a great combo? Hard for me to figure out what sound comes from Ronnie at times, which is part of their combining I guess. Thanks.

It's about the music. In the beginning there's nothing else. There's no money, no fans, no business people, no lawyer...just music, but some bands get all of that and then some, but at the end of the day, it still just goes back to the music,.
