So happy to be sharing this one! Not sure what has happened to the left ear audio on opening of the video sorry! It re-balances in the car - Sounds better without earphones if you can manage, will investigate for future videos!
Likely recorded into channel 1 of a 2ch interface and then imported as a stereo audio file (where channel 2 was not used) rather than a single mono channel.
People on the internet are pricks that take everything for granted, they sure don't know how to appreacite anything until they lost it. Don't worry, you still have those who enjoy the excellent content and amazing effort that you put in to create something as good as this video (that is free btw). Keep going with the great work and one merely technical issue won't make it any less good!
if those brakes are as mad as you say they are it could kill you. i actually pulled my left eye muscle doing a 75mph to 0mph emergency stop in my Rcz. the brakes on my car in 7 years still feel mental.
My Veyron Story: Of course like many of you, I was about 12 when I saw Jeremy Clarkson drive the Veyron on a Top Gear special and that moment forever changed the way I looked at cars. Fast forward 10 years and I was walking with my sister on Rodeo Drive in California when out of the corner of my eyes, I spotted 4 distinct tail lights and massive hips that could only come from one car, the legendary Veyron. Being able to see one up close for 5 minutes just sent shivers down my spine. My sister was so surprised that her gay brother would be so fascinated with cars rather than clothes, but cars, and now electric cars like the Rimac C2 just gives me more hope and passion to my love of the automobile. Keep up the killer work like always James! PS, you should TOTALLY consider the Porsche Taycan for your new daily driver!
My ultimate dream is to just see one of these beautiful engineering marvels in person. Just to hear that W16 rumble. I’m gay too but damn do I love cars too lol
There's a lovely video on the ISSIMI channel in the Spotlight where Jason Cammisa tells the reason behind the 406km/h. A specially designed Peugeot actually broke Porsche's record (370km/h) on the Mulsanne straight and achieved 406km/hr and Ferdinand Piech wanted that record back to honor his granddad, Ferry Porsche.
The most insane fact about this car: Despite being the most expensive new car at the time, it was sold at a loss. In fact, it was 5 times more expensive to produce, than the price it was sold at. They lost millions with every car sold. That's how much of a leap forward this car was. The tech wasn't even there to make it cost viable.
But the tech researched for this car would have paid for those r&d costs by now. From the polo to the Chiron, all of them have a DSG and much more that came out of the veryron.
@@girishs1755 One of the biggest innovation was their wiring : the developpement of the Veyron led the engineers to work for the first time with optical fiber rather than copper and gold to send information. I'm 11mins 19secs into this and can i just say how much i love these types of videos. I have so much appreciation for the engineering on these vehicles it's literally mind boggling. Looking forward to the driving part lol
Best car video I've seen on RUclips in a very long time. This feels like a real step up in quality. Top work! Can you do a Porsche 959 at some point? The original hyper car... Like the Veyron, it brought whole new technologies to market.
Every decade or so there's a car that defines what it means to build cars: Mercedes-Benz 300SL Lamborghini Miura Ferrari F40 McLaren F1 Bugatti Veyron Aston Martin Valkyrie
@@tededmondson Both were built to compete in Group B originally (288 GTO EVO and 959), and then turned into road cars when that didn't pan out. So it's not really a response to the 959, but a competitor. The F40 continues to define for many people the ultimate analog supercar, where the 959 was the first of the modern tech-fests. So as something to represent a high point or define an era, I would say the F40 is more significant to the 80s. As a scion of change, the origin of a new era the 959 certainly has its place in history though.
What a machine 👌🏻 The bit that got me is when you said it feels like it could have been made yesterday... What an amazing feat of engineering this car is 😊
I had no idea the car had 1100 lb-ft of torque, that number is astronomically high. God I love the Veyron and everything it stands for. Unquestionably one of the greatest automobiles of all time.
Remember the first time I saw one of these - it was parked outside the Dorchester and in a beautiful two tone bronze and black colour scheme - Piech was a mad perfectionist who we have a lot to thank for including the bulletproof nature of your GT3 etc...
Wow man! I remember seeing this the first time on Top Gear but didn’t fully appreciate it, you sir conveyed it beautifully. I also don’t know if it’s coincidence since you launched the production bunker but the production, quality and continuity have just blown the roof right off!!! Incredible man
It's unbelievable the speed at which everything is progressing now. It's really hard to appreciate how quickly the world's grown up in the last 15 years, but it was almost in a kind of technological infancy when the Veyron was launched. 15 years ago we were just getting into DVD, the internet was still in its infancy with many connections still being dial-up and the computer tech that made social media possible (Web 2.0 with it's billions upon billions of interconnections) was only being launched, Ferrari only launched the F430 in 2005 (with its futuristic F1 style flappy paddle gear shifters!), flat screen TVs were only just becoming popular then, and the iPhone was still a couple of years away from existing. We were also still 3 years away from the HD digital recording revolution with Canon's 5D MKII (I'm sure James knows what I'm talking about) which was a game-changer for internet content providers. Lastly in 2005, youtube was just launched. With the Veyron I think it was safe to say the future had finally arrived (sorry, that's horribly cliched)! 🤣
Usually I wasn't a big fan of the Veyron, but seeing it in this video I kind of fell in love a bit. Never saw it as a classic that changed my perspective towards the car.
how JWW is under 600K and Parker is 2.2 is absolute mind boggling. keep up the good work Mate, you’re miles better, in every way, so keep up the amazing work, and you’ll get there
I swear the design brief was, "make it costly to service and run". All this adds to the legend and makes it collectable. Even rims need to be replaced every other to fourth tire change. An oil change is a massive job. The McLaren f1 was similar. I can see how people love them but too me to many compromises in the name of speed. Speed is just a number. I'm a hot hatch man, not perfect, but handle well and can enjoy normal roads, fast enough. Just as much advanced engineering goes into making them reliable and useable and cheap. It's easy to over-engineer with cost no limit.
I remember the first day this car started up and drove them was on top gear then tracks the streets ect everything it's ever done, my passion and loyalty its power and beauty still stands is still amazing and for me the Veyron is still king of the road
JWW always killing it! BUT there are few things to point out. The car needed to go over 406kph b/c that was the top speed of a other le man car that was specifically designed to have a higher too speed than the 917. It was a middle finger to that car. Yes the car loses 2000hp due to heat, but losing 2/3 of your hp to heat is normal for road car engine. Your 500hp mustang loses 1000hp as heat and other forms of energy. Puts thing into perspective:)
Amazing engineering. And the other amazing engineering success is how all these extreme technologies were normalized in a mere decade. These $20k tires which can be only replaced in France, are now superseded by regular stock tires which are rated for higher speed, provide more traction, and you can easily fit it onto your rim without glueing.
Still one of my favourite cars ever. People say it isn’t a “car guys car” but it’s timeless and beautiful in every way and exceeded record speeds whilst being luxurious and elegant. Possibly even better than the McLaren F1 in my opinion
Simply the best car in the world! Awesome review. No one can explain the tires like you did. Well done! The camera on the windshield was difficult to watch from the flashing sunlight every second light shot through the trees. It was like a strobe light in a dark room.
Absolutely love the Veyron! Whilst I don't find it particularly attractive compared to many other hyper/super cars, it's a mechanical tour de force and an incredible vehicle even today. Great review, thank you!
World economy collapsing however James is now driving a Veyron... this channel is elevated to the next level, amazing cinematography and content as usual (if not even better). Thanks and keep it up! 👍💪
James, I truly and honestly love and enjoy all your content. However I think I enjoy your Modern Classic series is my favourite content. We are of similar age and the cars that you review for this series are all cars that were on my walls and dreamed about. I feel as I get older these cars seem to be more important to me (and I feel our age groups) and seem more relevant then the latest Mclaren, Lamborghini, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I love ALL cars new and old. However it’s nice to see how our dream cars are holding up in these incredible automotive times! I also like that your series isn’t just about the crazy expensive cars. I’d love to see more “normal” cars. Like maybe a 1st Gen 986 boxster spyder? Also on the other end of the spectrum, a manual Zonda... Keep up the amazing content and good luck with all your ventures!
Veyrons gearbox is made by Ricardo and they established 2 independent teams to just develop and program the software code for managing the gearbox. In case one program fails, the other one is there to keep the gearbox operating without problems.
It’s magnificent how this hyper car is made, how much thinking and advanced technology went in, and at the end someone from the VW Group thought that it’s ok to share a key with the Golf...
The 16.4 is a seriously cool machine! Side note: Audi also stopped offering/fitting DSG gearboxes because of the Americans. Apparently, most of them didn't like the way a dual clutch behaved in heavy traffic and while parking. Having driven a few early DSG cars, I can see why some people might not like them. VAGs latest DSGs, even the one in the 991.1 GT3 RS, still take some getting used to, but are better overall. Obviously.
Ferdinand Piech was a maniac in the best way. Look at all the crazy shit the VW Group did when he was in charge: the Veyron, a V10 RS6, the Phaeton, the V12 TDI, the V10 TDI, and so on…
Incredible car. Thankful that passionate petrol heads like guy berryman and quality journalists like mr JWW can bring this to us all. On the plus side, my Macan GTS has a Veyron gearbox 🤪
Absolutely fantastic video James! Without the Bugatti I don’t think a lot of modern HyperCars would have had a bar to reach for. This really set the bar for all performance cars from 2005 onwards. Can I just say as well with regards to the video, could you get your editor to do some colour correction in future? The otherwise footage of the car is quite flat in colours and quite muted, but otherwise everything else is sublime!
Absolutely cracking review of a great car. Even now the Veyron does not look second hand or dated. I remember before it came out and all the carmags at the time reported it was delayed due to the tyres needing to be able to take 250mph which at the time seemed an unbelievable speed. I'm sure the likes of Ferrari,McLaren and Porsche nicked some of that hard earned development for the P1 etc. My favourite Veyron tests are Jeremy Clarkson when it launched on top gear driving through Europe and Harry metcalfes drive in a Veyron vitesse. This review is now up there with them, easily could have watched another 10 minutes thanks.
Love the quality and story putting forwards in editing J. Been following your channel since you started and enjoy it more every day.. Cant wait to see what @TheProductionBunker is going to provide for content. Keep on..keeping on mate :-)
This car is such a legend that we all still can't grasp how much. 2020 Cutting edge tech developed in 2002-ish and packaged so gracefully. I still wonder how this car is around a million pounds. Maybe it will follow in the footsteps of the McLaren F1 and when it starts appreciating, the stratosphere is the limit

This review is now up there with them, easily could have watched another 10 minutes thanks.

The 2000’s and most of 2010’s were the best era of cars that many modern car guys like. We will what this decade has for cars.

This car is such a legend that we all still can't grasp how much. 2020 Cutting edge tech developed in 2002-ish and packaged so gracefully.
I still wonder how this car is around a million pounds. Maybe it will follow in the footsteps of the McLaren F1 and when it starts appreciating, the stratosphere is the limit
the veyron is a timeless machine with modern day high tech
Loving the Golf borrowed instrument dials
Wonderfully stimulating my left ear
Oldsmobile Aerotech.
4-cylinder twin-turbo 2.3L petrol engine. 268mph - IN 1987. Momentary top speed of 275mph. It was a project to showcase their production 150bhp engine of the day.
You looked like you had a blast driving that. Still one of the greatest looking cars still today....even if it is 10 or so years old!
