Bill Hader's speaking voice has such range. It's crazy. His sort of high pitch natural speech and laughing normally in an interview, but his deep voices in some of his characters.
His English/Brittish gynecologist accent is smooth too ha!
He does a spot on Alan Alda!
Why the hell did they cut this? This is comedy gold.

At 6minutes 20 seconds....do you see how the music is played like they need to go to commercial....that is “cut for time.” It’s NOT really “cut for time.” It’s just what they do in real life when the award recipient talks way too much and they play the music to have them wrap it up.
@@u.m.a.8119 No, this bit was literally cut out of the episode because it would have exceeded its airtime. That's why there's an entire series of these called "Cut For Time."

@Winds of March Journey Not really a good time to do that. Thanksgiving should be about family bonding. Talking about that during a family holiday feels like attention seeking. I think most people, when they don’t split inheritance up evenly, tend to give more to their favorites. I get that. Take a family dinner where everyone is supposed to be having a good time though, then rank the kids and grandkids most loved to least. Doesn’t feel good. Unless he was senile, it feels like an ah move.

What's wrong with kids knowing that they'll die one day? Do you tell your kids they're immortal? It's perfectly fine for kids to know about death. Sheltering kids from death is weird & not good for their minds.
That this perfect sketch would be cut, and with that level of production and talent, amazes me. The show had so much better stuff that week?
It was 7 minutes so decently long so they probably had a long cold open or a long weekend update. They should shorten update from 15 minutes to 10 and down to one performance from the musical guest.

The claim was that Taran was directing a film and it was cutting into his time. Lorne doesn't like stuff like that usually, but he's given Pete, Cecily, and Aidy a pass regarding their outside projects last year and this year. But...
I think it was because on one of his last episodes, Taran went off-script and ruined the end of a sketch that the host (Ariana Grande) had just done a really good job in. Lorne *REALLY* doesn't like people going off-script and has fired people for that: ruclips.net/video/7E5QXkkF5-U/видео.html
Taran's ad-libbed bit landed with an absolute thud, and he says at the end of it, "Well, it's been fun," because he knew he'd fucked up and he was through on SNL. But all wasn't lost. I mean, he was in _Hamilton_ and he got a sitcom, so.

I'd honestly watch this as an entire feature-length award show
I don't know why they didn't laugh at Hathaway. It was funny. Actually, I think maybe they hit too real for the audience for the whole skit.
One part did 'hit home' for me. I recall one Thanksgiving where I casually refused an offer of turkey by explaning that I was newly vegetarian. I didn't criticize anyone else for eating meat, but I was put on the defensive like a murder suspect being grilled by a cop. Not the happiest of family get-togethers, for sure.

This one wasn't performed in front of an audience. This is the dress rehearsal for the sketch that was left out of the show because they were running long.

I really like her but, i feel like she's just trying too hard in this. I dont know, maybe its also because you have kirsten Wiig or Moynihan that are naturally funny in the same sketch ("I thank my daughter and her black husband... the korean war for giving me my anger" that was gold 😭😂).
@@Avonbarksdaleable I was never a big fan of hers (or maybe just the movies she's in) but I thought she was fantastic on SNL in general, gave me whole new respect for her. She has way more range than I realized.

Fred Armison, not really Jewish, as "Jewish uncle"...Jewish-in-real-life Vanessa Bayer as "Christian Conservative pro-lifer"...that's why I love this show, everybody takes the piss out of ethnic groups without any of it being overly PC OR racist.

The atheist prayer made me laugh. When my family realized I was atheist at Thanksgiving years ago they actually expected me to have some kind of puerile tantrum over the prayer, to which I replied "what am I in 7th grade?". Andy Samberg did the perfect 7th grader version.
Samberg's more like a high schooler here than a 7th grader...unless that's how seventh graders act.
In 32 years of life I've never had a friend come out and we not know. We used to all get together to practice being shocked 😂
