Fill plug torque is 50 N*m/36.9 ft-lb. As for the drain plugs, the oil pan plug is also 50 N*m/36.9 ft-lb and 70 N*m/51.6 ft-lb for the clutch housing plug.
Best DIY video for transmission fluid flush, thanks man!
Didn't know was that simple! Awesome walkthrough!
You're videos are awesome dude, Been watching them for a couple months now and just purchased my own STI recently. You inspire me broh.
It about time they put some respect on my guys name congratulations on the 10k bro I know I’m late 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Been waiting for your video on this. Thanks 🙏
That strong smell in the oil are the extreme pressure additives , which is sulfer that protects the gears in extreme hot temperatures , and under heavy load . Thank you sir , for the video , and may God bless you .
Love this bro!
Excellent video!
I like that you actually take the time to show everyone step by step on this stuff for people who don’t know, keep doing this please because some people suck at doing this. Love the channel btw🤣💪
Thanks for the support! Try to walk everyone through everything I do as best as I can.
Your comments about the stinky gear oil reminds me of the 1940 Buick my dad bought back when I was a little kid. It smelled EXACTLY like that oil! Must've had a leak.... Brings back memories.
I like your garage floor by the way!
It’s a very distinct smell haha. Hard to forget.
The parts numbers and information was actually not below :(
He said the part number in the video
literally almost paid a local shop almost 400$ for this service. Thanks for the video!
Glad I could save you some money! It’s very easy to do and gratifying knowing it was done by you and done correctly.
Thanks you for video
Great video! Gasket numbers are a big help👍
Where are the part numbers listed? I can't seem to find them?
i stuffed the bolt heads with silicone grease so they don’t rust out on me. hopefully that prevents stripping in the future.
so far so good - 3 years in
Good jobs
Quickjacks would help a lot. Definitely on the list of things to buy. And damn how long before the new headlights are complete? I've been waiting on mine for a while because they're having issues getting the paint done the way I want of all things lol
Headlights are done. Should be here next week.
Where did you put the washer numbers at? I couldnt find them in the description
Nice thank you for this video. Can you do this change when the car is hot? Where you get the pump?
You could, but may be tough to do. Maybe warm the car up a bit, but not up to full temperature.
There is a link in the description for the pump I used.
Hey nice videos content man, do you know if is the same process for 2018 sti?
Thanks for the support! Yes, same exact process.
So I have 16 sti I can’t find a dipstick for the trans anywhere so I just fill it up until it drips out ?
Hey Chris, thanks for the video! Coming up on my 30,000 mile mark and getting everything ready. I was wondering if these cars come with a transmission filter and how often to replace them if so? Thanks in advance!
no not in manual transmissions
So a transmission flush is another way of saying oil change?
could I use all these parts on my 2017 wrx? btw I love the building man. its clean
I haven’t changed the oil on an fa so not entirely sure.
Just bought my 17 STI I love your diy’s man I am curious thou I was looking through to see if you had gaskets in the description and I can’t find them, do you think you could tell me where you got those?! It would be much appreciated thank you!

@@Scoobyfreak86 awesome thank you so much man!!
I always thought you wanna drain it on a level surface... since you have the car tilted rear wards it might not get all the old fluid out?
I drained the fluid that came out back into the liter motul bottles to see how much came out and it was an exact 4.0 liters, Maybe a hair under. So the few oz’s I put in from the 5th liter dripped out when it came over the fill hole.
Why did you do a flush instead of a drain/fill? I always hear people say not to flush. Is it a myth that flushing is bad?
Why are there 2 drains but only one fill?
Cool lights. Thought those were flashbangs lol
So wait, this is not the same as front and rear differential fluids change…?
Have you ever had 4th gear grind issue ? Was wondering if you tired the “cocktail “ of 3qts redline lightweight and 1qt of Motul 300 , I’m reading diff things, some say yes it solved it and other day it’s a temp fix bc the pump in the trans isn’t compatible with redline and causes more damage . Watching the vid now sry if you answered it in the vid ! Thanks man
I never experienced any grind during my ownership. Use stock trans oil until I changed it out with Motul and didn’t have any issues.
@@Scoobyfreak86 ty man , I’ll have to fig something out
It doesn't matter if you loosen the fill bolt because you can just fill it thru the dipstick
Dip stick on a manual?🤔
INHERENT A 2005 WRX STI WITH ONLY 16.000 MILES SHOULD I DO A TRANS AND DIF FLUSH
I would. Even the low miles, it’s been in the car for 16 years if it’s never been done before.
Was thinking shouldn’t the car be level when filling
Fill bolt is on the side so it wouldn’t be that big of a difference. The amount that went in from the 5th liter was so minuscule and pretty much drained out when it reached the full level. I’ve heard many others say that needed a 5th bottle as well.
Don’t manual transmissions need to be drained and filled every 100,000 miles or so?
Last question, what type of flooring do you have in your garage? Are you happy with it? Pro's/con's?
ruclips.net/video/5Ehpsxmy8tk/видео.html
Here is another where i put it through a few tests that people often wonder ruclips.net/video/wfSVzqi2cGE/видео.html
New to the wrx.. so the front, center, and trans is all one casing and just one fill hole but the front diff and trans have their own drain plugs?
WRX's have different transmission so not sure of the placement of the fill/drain plugs. However, all cases have a fill and drain plug.
How do you make time for these installs/maintenance? New dad here and I have found it difficult.
Night time haha. After all the kids are all asleep, I’m off duty for the most part. If you are passionate enough about something, you find time to do what you love. It’s not easy and there are some really long install/editing nights, but I enjoy it so much that it overrides all of that.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Hmm I'm definitely gonna have to try out the garage night installs. That is very true, thanks for your perspective Chris. Take care
So the trans is drained and the diff is too. but only trans is filled up? Does the Trans filler also fill the diff as well?
Two separate parts. Please see my video in the diff flush. ruclips.net/video/yaQS2UmFcg8/видео.html
Would the transmission plug gaskets work on a 2012 sti as well?
Yes everything is the same for the gr as well
Is this the only access point in which to add transmission fluid? The entire transmission (including front/center differential and excluding rear diff) takes just about 4 quarts of 75/90 fluid? Reason I ask is because I noticed another access point on the front passenger side of the transmission and was curious to know whether fluid is added there as well.
This is the only access point to fill
BTW i have the same transmission - donor car was a 2017 Sti - (just installed this transmission into a 92 SVX - so new to WRX/Sti's).
I was thinking of running motul oil, do you recommend it ? I have a 2020 Subaru sti I’m new to Subaru
Absolutely recommend it! Wouldn’t run anything else but Motul.
Would this be same for a wrx
Transmission is different in the wrx so it would be slightly different. But it’s the same concept.
More like a drain/fill. Flush has diff meaning for me. Like a chemical clean u might do on motor oil crud issues.
Just to clarify. Filling from the one full hole fills both the diff and the trans at the same time?
Correct
you dont think your car should have been level to make sure all the old fluid is out and the new fluid level would be correct and not a little over filled?
Having the car level would help drain fully. However, even if the car was not fully drained, it would take less than the 4L since it would still have residual oil left. I’m confident that it drained nearly completely. I left the car as low as possible. Maybe an ounce or two left, but nothing that would effect the fill level.
The trans shouldn't have been impacted 2 much from not being level as the fill bolt is on the side. But the rear diff based on the cars level prob resulted in the slight overfill as the bolt location to car angle worked more towards a top plug ,(think if you put a hole on the side of a can but then rotate the can so the hole is on the top you can then still fill the entire can).
@@Scoobyfreak86 I definitely think it effects the fill level. It probably will be fine but you should really go pick up another set of jack stands for next time.
Do you have the part numbers for the crush washers for the job?
I show them all in this video
Whats the max mileage before the fluid needs to be changed?
I would recommend doing this every 30k.
So when you fill through the transmission does that go to the front differential too or do you fill the front differential somewhere else ?
One in the same. Fills both.
Ok thanks
How many litres did each drivetrain take ?
Gearbox
Centre diff
And rear diff
Thanks 🤙
TY85 trans 4.1L, H5 rear diff 1.0L for 19MY STI
can i use this fluid on my 2018 subaru sti? i check it on amazon it says cannot fits on my car
Yes
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks
Can you fill from transmission dip ?
You could, but would be a bit harder to do imo.
So there is two drain plugs but one fill plug? Does that fill both the Transmission and diff at the same time??
No, one is a drain plug, the other is the fill. Does not fill at the same time as they are separate components. ruclips.net/video/yaQS2UmFcg8/видео.html
@scooby I think he’s referring to the front diff and trans. Doesn’t draining the t70 plug drain the whole system? Not referring to the rear diff. Thanks!
Not sure if you noticed but according to Motul this is not the gear oil they recommend for the sti.
So which one is then?
@@asaelmendez7781check their website. They don’t have a recommended fluid. I tried this fluid in the video and my diff made all kinds of noise. Changed back to oem all noise is gone
So quick question. The trans filler fills the differential as well?
Separate ruclips.net/video/yaQS2UmFcg8/видео.html
@@Scoobyfreak86 im yes the rear is differential is separate but the front diff fills from the transmission?
Yes those are connected
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks I appreciate you getting back. I was told I had to remove the intercooler to fill up transmission fluid. Thats why i was a little confused but he had a 15 sti not sure if that makes a difference
So is this transmission fluid change or flush?
Both
what spot did you place the jack point?
The frame of the car
can you make a video on where you setup the jack point
I can do that for sure
I swear I’m not peeing😂😂
I'm still on 60k kms i think i need to do it at 100k = 60k miles about that .
When’s the giveaway video?
There’s no video. The description was updated on the video. It was announced on my Instagram like I mentioned in the video.
13:04 I should call her
On your front right wheel your break dics got holles drilled in bad direction. Thats twist effect of holles in rotor should go opposit side can't explain IT better my english Is bad. But your car Is cleanest sti right Now on planet earth.
Watch this video ruclips.net/video/2qjacMl6KvA/видео.html
All rotors are in the correction orientation. It’s not about the holes. It’s about the cooling fins inside the rotor. Plus you are looking at the rotor from the backside.
