    "INTERDIMENSIONAL SUMMIT" LYRICS
    Mired in illusion
    Lost in the masters game
Silenced by the idea of time
    Nurtured with lies and deceit
    The silent seeker, the seer
    Travels beyond the veil
    The silent seeker, the seer
Fleeing the dense womb of ignorance
    To the trained eye
    There are no coincidences
    The more you see
    The less it makes sense
    To the trained eye
    There are no coincidences
    If you can not see
    You can not truly know
We are the current sum of all the ages
Leaving a trail of burnt pages
    Thrown into darkness as stars
    We travel alone as one
When the dust settles on the tavern
Is when we're liberated from illusion
Taking our first and final breath
Realizing life is always after death

I feel that Norway, Sweden and Finland have done to metal what the Brits did to the blues in the 60s and 70s - they totally took it to another level. So much talent in this peninsula.

We will see about their return to black metal. Despite many BMers not liking Dimmu anymore, their album sales and recognition kept going up. Granted their best selling album was Death Cult Armageddon, their subsequent albums charted high in many countries. My point being, maybe they made this song in such a way at the request of the label. Very interested to see what's in store on the rest of their album.

Life is filled with illusions, be silent and be wary of comrades and your environment. The more you see the more of a perception you develop; life will fillip that around too.
Those who seek wisdom will always be seeking basically, even where others turn a blind eye.
I believe the Havamal had something to do with this or the volsupa Edda
They speak about the illusions of life and being wary of our own illusions, the value of silence to understand things, and the sacrifices required for wisdom etc.
      Idk just guessing

I'm perfectly fine with the evolution of bands! It's so cool when you listen to their new stuff which is so different, but then at the moments you still can here their old style, the old drive. To me that's the amazing. They're not afraid to try new things and it's what keeps them at the top of their game.

Fuck Nightwish, they're shit, and Dimmu Borgir's actually good music. Their symphonic sound doesn't necessarily intertwine them with bands like Nightwish. Plus the black metal side of Dimmu (especially their first couple albums) is brilliant. Like seriously fucking killer

    • @TheJohannes44
      @TheJohannes44 6 лет назад +66

This is actually very similar to the way many nightwish songs are built up. Guitars and keyboards that blend together, playing the same main melody, typical poppy song structure with plenty of repetition, and some choiry vocals to pretty much echo whatever the main vocalist does. Drums are also quite unremarkable. Even the happy diddly melody at 1:34 sounds like something from a Nightwish piece. I can totally image this with Floor from Nightwish and it would be an absolutely delightful power-sympho metal-like song.
I'm just really hoping for another Death Cult Armageddon in my lifetime.

Dimmu Borgir unites what I love about Metal:
    The dignity of Symphonic Metal
    The rawness of Black Metal
The creativity of Melodic (Death) Metal
    The desperation of Doom Metal
    The epicness of Power Metal
Dimmu is unique, will be unique and has always been. Haters should shut the f*ck up.

Why fix something that isn't broken? Their previous albums were really good so there was no need to try another style. If they weren't happy with their previous albums or wanted to try something new it's another thing, but most of this song feels very uncreative. I love both symphonic metal and (symphonical) black metal but this is something in between that lacks what makes those genres good.

    • @louisfriedrich7285
      @louisfriedrich7285 6 лет назад +7

Well, the thing is change certainly is not bad thing, not at all, it can be really good if it has the same songwriting quality as the material what was released before. However, if a band changes and becomes worse, that's another story. I really enjoyed abrahadabra even though it was different to the previous albums, so there is no bad thing about that. This however is really underwhelming, considering it's already been 7 years since the previous album. Especially the symphonic elements are utter crap compared to what they've done before. Man, Mustis influence is truly missing..

Let's take a look to the facebook description of this music video : " This first track off the new record, the symphonically charged 'Interdimensional Summit', comes with a music video shot by Patric Ullaeus, who had previously worked with the band for the clips of 'Progenies of the Great Apocalypse', 'Sorgens Kammer - Del II' and the award-winning 'The Serpentine Offering'.
The song represents the more epic side of a devilish and diverse album, which pays tribute to all eras of the band's 25-years-long history."
The other songs may be much darker.

    • @Exhul666
      @Exhul666 6 лет назад +1

I certainly hope so. I found this track to be a bit of a let down. I'm a big fan of most of their work. Most meaning that I feel that In Sortii Diaboli and Abrahadabra were "OK," IMHO; but it seems like they've lost their ferocity or the part that added a bit of fear or sense of foreboding to their music since "Death Cult Armageddon." I'm sure many would argue that it was even earlier on and some would say they've not lost it at all.... just my objective opinion.

The fact is, almost all great black metal bands (Darkthrone, Burzum, Bathory, Mayhem and Satyricon, just to name five BIG names) changed their style abruptly as time went by. It seems black metal has certain limitations no musician can ignore after a certain time, like an irresistible urge to “overcome” it after you have explored it throughout. As if the guys said “Well, now that we have the money and the opportunity to release well produced music, black metal no longer fits us. Let’s move on.” And all of them know the purists will search for new underground lo-fi material to compesate for the most recent “casualty” in black metal. That’s to say, these Dimmu Borgir guys are so maligned for their change in style, but they have only followed the usual route, they have “overcome” black metal, like Satyricon and Darkthrone did. Now if the music they make today represents an improvement in quality, it’s up for everyone to judge, they should only not to be seen as an exception when they simply follow the rules of the game.

You neglect to mention that Fenriz, and Varg both changed styles due to the disenfranchisement of the Norwegian scene. It was actually because bands like Dimmu Borgir, and Satyricon that they changed styles, and currently resent the genre. And it wasn't so much "trying to overcome" for Quorthon", so much as it was wanting to branch out, creatively.

Everyone talks about "old" Dimmu and "new" Dimmu. Generally, what they mean is that before, Dimmu Borgir used to sound more "evil." While this is true (and not only because of one or another band member. Remember all the albums before Spiritual Black Dimensions? Remember their music and lyrics? Yeah.), this here is great music if we are to detach ourself from that more "evil" sound. Keep in mind that these men are human beings, not demons. They have families and kids. They are getting older. At the end of the day there's more to talk about and with different sounds.

It is disappointing to see how people are never satisfied with new releases. "Where is the Black Metal?" "It sounds like Nighwish." If you do not like it just do not listen to it, it is not mandatory. In the end, true fans will always appreciate how Dimmu has evolved with time and, most important of all, they make the music for themselves, it is up to the fans either to follow it or not. Stop bitching around and simply go away if you do not like this masterpiece.

nothing about that" trve black" shit, simply it´s because this song is awful, I meean, come on bro! this is nightwish with makeup. And I know, every band evolves (for example, behemoth) that´s true, but this is more like metallica releasing "load" (just for commercial purposes than a real exploration of their sound)

BFBeast666 nightwish is not about guitar solos, music is not about guitar solos. Guitar solos are for egocentric guitar virtuosos and are just masturbation. The guitar sound must be just anothe element in the music integrity.. and nightwish (and avantasia too, for example) do that just just fine, because Tuomas is a great composer and Tobias.
Honestly I think Silenoz is a great composer too, looking at his music so far. Obviously the guy just want the money and explote the shit that previously worked

Whos unorignial? Hot topic jokes? Girlfriends in the band huh? Nice classic edgelord elitist banter, step up the word game a few notches before replying if you would. Youre getting a little stereo typical.

The dudes who only listen to black metal are gonna fucking hate this, and I really understand why. This ain't black metal. This is somthing like slightly blackened symphonic metal.
I loved it though! This falls right in my taste of metal (which is pretty wide), can't wait for the album!

    • @michaelangeloh.5383

Well, I listen from Classical, to Folk, to Disco, Electronic, Metal, whatever the fuck has SOUL to it. - But this is just... This has nothing catchy... This is dull and boring, with tinny sounding guitars and a shitty sounding orchestra and some dance-y riff that sounds commercial as heck.
And I like Linkin Park (up to a point)... I like 'St. Anger'... and other stuff people or Metalheads like to shit on... But what is THIS Cradle Of Filth carbon copy?!... - But I will still wait to hear the rest of the album. - This is just nothing like even their last album. Which, fair enough, was 7-8 years ago, but... Hey, a little consistency and some signature of a sound or style helps.

If this had a true hint of black metal to it, it would still suck
