Metal in general has always been a sophisticated genre from the very beginning. That's why it has been unfairly criticized, censored and even banished. Small minds will try to erase/diminish what they can't understand.
For all saying the choir couldn't match Vortex: Did it ever occur to you that perhaps they were going for a choir sound instead of a soloist sound because, I don't know, they had an entire choir at their disposal and wanted to use that instead of attempting to recreate something that nobody would be satisfied with anyway? In terms of power and clarity, yes the choir doesn't match up (also not loud enough - engineering issue) but could Vortex sing all parts at the same time? - no, I don't think so. Comparing Vortex's ability vs the choir's ability isn't the same as comparing Vortex's purpose in the original track vs the choir's purpose during this performance.
To this day it amazes me that a band that would be casted aside for back in the day by how ridiculous it sounded compared to the trend can slap it back in a haters face and get an entire orchestra to back them during a live set. This is more akin to symphonic heavy metal than black metal. Technically it can be considered Symphonic black metal but the only black metal influence left is the vocal style. Not so much the way the song is written/played. Their old stuff however... brutal. Puritanical and Spiritual Black Dimension is more of my taste. I'm not saying it's bad or anything. I like it too for the most part.
Then you listen to the former members solo album, the album he was always bragging about making, while he was in one of the best bands ever and you sit there and go WTF is this shit?

The fact that use an entire choir to replace his missing vocals just shows how awesome he was lol.
0:32 - So nice of Keanu Reeves taking time out of his busy schedule to be part of this fantastic performance
Hahaha I love the orchestra...
LOL....I thought Severus Snape immediately!!!
I once saw him kill three men in a bar... with a pencil. With a fucking pencil. I mean who does that.
On 2023, Still missing vortex
High budget concert, love the sound mixing everything is clear
that sound engineer deserves a fucking statue... just imagine equalizing a full metal band, full orchestra and full choir
The score to this would give John Williams a run for his money any day, absolute class.
True
This song was my first black metal song I've listened when I was in junior high school, this song is masterpiece and memorable for me
What an absolute masterpiece... HOLY SHIIIITE!!!
0:33 the most evil, black metal violinist hands down!! XD
@Dragostea Din Tei wtf? XD , I'm not even gonna ask.
Its Keanu Reeves XD
Did think that there'd be comments like this when I first saw this vampire 😁
He probably got laid regularly in music school.
I'd definitely spend a day in his form!
This orchestra and this choir is a great idea! What an effect during the concert! Respect for ALL OF THEM!
it's not only music... it's state of the art music...
What do you mean?
A full choir for Vortex's part
Still,unable to fill his gap.
Thank you Mustis for this creation!!! 🤘🏼
One does not simply hide an orchestra behind an enormous pentagram...
Justified. It's hard to read sheet music with flashing lights on your face
@@boringveil4783 that's one advantage for sure, besides the supernatural power boost of the future seal
This is the very first black metal song I ever heard I still remember the first time I came into contact with this band I saw a T-shirt in Hot Topic😂
I bought the CD I don't have it anymore but hell I don't have a working CD player anymore either
Black Metal is intriguing yet fascinating. The orchestra makes it perfect. Amazing.
You know a former member was fucking awesome when it takes a fucking choir to replace them :D
Then you listen to the former members solo album, the album he was always bragging about making, while he was in one of the best bands ever and you sit there and go WTF is this shit?
True but his new band is doodoo
And then you read why he left and it becomes apparent that his new material is irrelevant to why he left ;)
0:33 Winter Soldier playing the violin.
I still miss Vortex in this masterpiece ;(
This is so unbelievably impressive. My mind is blown.
One of the finest orchestration of a metal song
Slipknot : we hav 9 members
DB : ok
Imagine Vortex seeing his part and thinking "meh, you did it just ok"
I'd probably tear up out of amazement if I watched this live, especially on the choir part.
That crowd, the luckiest mothereffers to ever live, I absolutely envy each and every one of them 🤘
How can an entire choir not pull off Simon’s vocal line?
Just when you think there are no more levels, they take it to the next level! Must have been an awesome show to attend.
Tyrel Parker they are great I use to sing this in school everyone thought I was nuts
