Which use to be hated yet now they understand that is how you make money. I DO however Really Miss Vortex. He was such a presence. Then add his clean vocals. This was the best line up of the band. Vortex definitly made the band a lot more whole, as did Hellhammer.. might've been laughing stock, but at least they were making good money, which is hard as a metal band if you aren't 'mainstream'

In fairness to Tony Laureano, not being quite as good as Nick Barker is still pretty much a compliment. And while i agree, i still think he does great. All of Dimmu's drummers have been good. Just not quite Barker good.

i always liked that they were heavy as fuck without over doing it, but also mainstream enough that the talent was allowed to flow into most of their songs.. theres very few songs up until insorte.

Not so much heavy. It's the orchestral black metal aspect that the masses didn't grasp. You're right in how they were able to dial it down for the uncultured. Enthrone would have never been an option.

I was at a metal fest in the 1990s, and Dimmu was there (on a 2nd stage). I didn't go see them, because I thought they were stupid (I was SO into Metallica, Pantera stuff). I hate myself today for that decision.

Glance into the blackness hidden beneath your surface. And enjoy the suffering, sanity drained in disrespect. With such bedevilled faith in good, subsequently trusting evil. Next step for mankind will be the last seasons in sin
